On DVD
The 2nd of December saw the release of the much awaited Smurfs 2 animation from Sony pictures.
Smurfs 2 is available on both DVD, Blu-Ray, and the new ultraviolet format.
SYPNOSIS
The story tells of evil wizard Gargamel who is in fact in human form who creates Hackus and Vexy, a pair of mischievous Smurf‑like creatures, hoping they will let him harness the magical Smurf‑essence.He soon discovers that he needs the help of Smurfette, who knows the secret to turning the pair into real Smurfs. When Gargamel, Hackus and Vexy kidnap Smurfette from Smurf Village and bring her to Paris, it’s up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity to reunite with their human friends, Patrick and Grace Winslow to rescue
The film stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria and features the voice talents of Katy Perry as Smurfette, George Lopez (Rio) as Grouchy, Anton Yelchin as Clumsy, and Alan Cumming as Gutsy.
The DVD runs for 1hr 41 minutes on DVD and 1hr 45 minutes on Blu-ray. The film has a U rating and therefore suitable for any age.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray version contain bonus features which include two deleted scenes and two featurettes. The Blu-Ray version contains an extra 3 featurerttes.
This is a great family film especially in time for the festive period. All 3 of my children enjoyed watching it and did not get bored. We never saw the original Smurf movie so cannot compare. The main villain Gargamel is a great character which kids will hate as the evil wizard. However even he is lovable in his own way. The movie cleverly combines humans with animation and will be watched over and over again by my kids.
