Last week I received a fabulous box of food items at my door. This box was from Degustabox and is a very new subscription service in the UK which began December 2013.
Degustabox costs just £12.99 a month with no commitment. The boxes come at the end of the month and contain anything from 10-15 surprise food products from fairly new companies/ or new items to the market. Of course the goods in the box will be worth more than what you actually pay and always a lovely surprise unpacking the box.
My first box last month (January) contained 11 items in total. Here is what was inside.
Dorset Cereals: Berry Granola
It’s a delicious mix of oats and berries, obviously great as a cereal but I am also looking around for ideas to maybe make some muffins or bars our of this. Very sweet and crunchy and obviously healthy too.
Goody Good Stuff sweets
Always good to find surprise sweeties in my boxes. Goody good sweets are all-natural, gelatin free, and dairy free plus gluten free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians There were two large bags in the Degustabox; Sour Mix & Match, and Tropical Fruit.
Quinoa Mothergrain express
Quinoa is a healthy superfood. It’s tasty with salads cold or can be served hot. I had never tried Quinoa before and I do like the taste so would consider buying again.
Amy’s Kitchen: Chunky Tomato soup>
Amy’s kitchen make their soups using natural ingredients. If you like tomato soup then you will love this. Huge delicious tasty chunks of tomato. Just perfect for warming up your belly in this cold weather.
Jules Destrooper Butter Crisp
I was very happy that these tasty buttery delights were included. Absolutely delicious and creamy. Great with a nice hot brew.
Go Kombucha: China White fermented tea
this drink comes from an ancient Chinese recipe and apparently is a good health tonic. Unfortunately it wasn’t really something I particularly liked but hey with 11 items to the box there’s usually always going to be one item that doesn’t tickle those taste buds.
Zico Chocolate coconut water
This tasty drink is made using a natural chocolate flavour and is low calorie too. A rather unusual blend of coconut with chocolate.
Maggi Recipe mixes
The last items in my Degustabox were 3 different recipe mixes for chicken by a company called MaggiSo Juicy Sticky BBQ, So Juicy Mexican Chicken, and So Tender Italian Herbs for Chicken. All you need with them is chicken and they are so easy to make and very tasty.
First I made the So Tender Italian Herb Chicken
I just needed a few chicken fillets. The pack contains enough for 4 fillets. Inside the pack are herb coated papers which you wrap fillets in like this.
Then fry for ten minutes each side in a pre heated frying pan.
Once cooked you get delicious herby chicken like this.
. It only takes 20 minutes and gives chicken a totally new flavour. I can’t wait to try the other Maggi chicken dishes.
I loved the surprise of my Degustabox and I think £12.99 is very good value for what’s inside. A helpful guide comes with the box explaining each of the products and individual company information plus a few recipes on things to make with the products.

I’d say the Maggi Recipe mixes. I thought you were using filo pastry for the herby chicken for a moment there.
Ha it does look like it a little doesn’t it.
It’s just paper with herbs on and must have a little oil on them as it tells you not add any oil to pan
Oooh choices, probably the Jules Destrooper Butter Crisp – they sound delicious! 🙂
The berry Granola sounds amazing, but also the Maggi sachets sound good, I will have to give those a try, make chicken interesting!
Definately the Dorset Cereals. Sorry to be a bit pedantic though- I do have an issue with Maggi products being in the box as Maggi is a Nestlé company 🙁 That said though it is a great idea to sample products you wouldn’t normally purchase.
Maggi recipe dishes are definitely my favourites!
