Hi there,
My name is Harry Riddles and I am ten years old which my mum says is too young to have problems but she is WRONG. My dad just lost his job, which means we might have to move house and I need money to make my mega-amazing zombie movie but there is NO WAY I will sell my X-box! Iβve written to the Queen, Harry Styles, and the people off Dragonsβ Den who might be able help but I donβt know if theyβll write back. If you have any bright ideas for making money Iβd love to hear them and I can tell you how to get past level 6 on World of Zombies if you like.
Good luck and have fun Harry Riddles
Shouty kid is a book by Simon Mayle.
It is the story of 10 year old Harry Riddles. The book reads in a diary type format. Each day is a letter or message written by or to Harry. The majority of the letters are wrote to Harry’s cousin Charlie.
Harry worries about his family situation. His dad lost his job and this is talked about in Harry’s letters throughout the book. There is a mention of baliffs and Harry worries about his X box as most ten year olds would.
Harry’s idea is to make his own zombie movie. Being ten means he does not have money, so he writes to various people asking for help. These people include the Queen, David Cameron and a few celeberities.
It’s a fun book which many ten year old children can relate to. There are several highlighted issues mentioned throughout the book. Such as internet, bullying, siblings, parents and lack of money. Issues which many children worry about on an everyday basis.
The very first page did infact remind me of Ryan and something he did not so long ago.
I think I told Ryan something very similar when I discovered his Facebook account too.
I read the first few pages and had a flick through the book so I could get a good idea of what Ryan would be reading. I actually enjoyed it, many parts remind me so much of my own son and he is also ten years old.
Shoutykid is published by Harper Collins. It is aimed at children ages 8 and over and costs Β£6.99. Available from Amazon and probably in many good book shops.
Shoutykid even has it’s own website here .
