This past week, I have been testing out more self tanning products. I have fair skin and love nothing more than looking bronzed in the sunshine. Sadly I don’t tan easily. I avoid sunbeds due to the health risks and also the fact the lie down ones are like hot coffins.
I am testing out a few different self tanning products over the Summer months. Today is the Sunkissed self tan mousse from Sunkissed Bronzing.
The Product
I was kindly sent a 200ml bottle of medium shade tanning mousse to test and also a tanning mitt. The mousse costs just £4.99 which is comparison to other similar products is very much at the lower price end. I did have to wonder why it was so cheap. Does low cost mean low quality? Does a higher price mean better quality? – In my experience, No this is not always the case.
This is what the mousse claims to do
” The SUNKISSED Self-tan Mousse 200ml, delivers an instant natural bronze tan that smells divine and lasts for up to 5 days. The easy to apply, lightweight foam formulation absorbs and dries quickly on the skin, whilst moisturising ingredients Aloe Vera and Glycerin leave it feeling smooth and hydrated. The Medium Bronze mousse is perfect for fair to medium skin giving you a deep golden glow.
Kind to skin this dermatologically approved formula contains no parabens or alcohol”.
Application
The mousse comes out easily with a pump action nozzle. The mousse comes out brown in colour and is slightly runny at first but seems to foal up a bit better after a few seconds.
I had to exfoliate and use moisturiser on elbows, knees and face as per instructions prior to application.
The mousse seemed to dry very quickly and had a smell of coconuts. I like this smell but others may be put off by it if coconut smells don’t suit them. I did have to rub very fast as it dried in really quickly and so was easy to miss parts.
I did a full body application and could see a light result almost instantly. For the full tanning effect I had to wait a few hours. This is the norm for most decent self tanning products. I usually always apply mine after bathing at night and leave over night.
Results
I was fairly happy with the results; the morning after application. The clout is perhaps a little darker than what I thought it would be but it’s not so dark that it looks completely over the top fake. I can’t see any streaks, it’s slightly patchy on my back but I didn’t have anyone to help me apply it and this can be easily remedied.
I have also showered lightly just to remove any excess patches.
Opinion
Overall I think it’s a great value tanning mousse. I do prefer the mousse products to the sprays or lotions anyway. It dries quickly, it smells pleasant and seems to give a nice overall even coverage. It can be a little messy to apply so it’s a good idea have plenty of towels around when applying.
For £4.99 you can’t go wrong really. A bottle of this would do a fair few applications. A good cheap product to keep in the cabinet for a night out on the town. After all us ladies love looking like bronzed goddesses don’t we?
The application mitt does not come with the mousse. It can be purchased separately here for £3.99.
The mousse also comes in a dark shade and other tanning products such as lotions can be purchased. Sunkissed also sell a variety of bronzing make up products and gift sets. All at very low cost.
I have to confess that I don’t need this as my skin is brown Your review of the product is nice tho telling us readers about everything that we need to know about it and your experience. Thanks for sharing =) #brilliantblogposts
