I consider January the month for decluttering and deciding on things to do in the home. The month for replacing those worn household items with shiny new ones.
My previous laundry basket was certainly looking a little worse for wear. It was one of those fabric circular things with bendy wire that folds down flat somehow. The wire had come out of the fabric meaning it slouched and I was glad to see the back of it.
It was replaced with a lovely new White round Wicker laundry basket from The Basket Company.
These baskets come in 3 different sizes and the one I now have is medium. It measures an impressive 44cm x h 58cms. It’s much bigger than the previous thing and takes up the same amount of space which isn’t much.
I usually wash every other day and I would say it probably holds a good 3 days worth of all our laundry if not more but as I wash quite often it rarely gets full.
The basket is handmade from willow. It feels strong and sturdy. I have had washing baskets that look like this, purchased from discount stores but they are not made from the same materials and end up falling apart and fraying within a few weeks. This one feels like it’s going to last a very long time.
Inside the basket is a neutral coloured lining to hold the laundry. This can be taken out and washed.
The bigger basket measures 51×65 but I do think the medium one seems big enough for us at present. It is very generous in size for a medium basket and easily holds what it needs too. I chose white as everything in my bathroom is black and white but there are other neutral colours and other types of Laundry baskets available for purchase.
This medium basket costs £50.00. The smaller one is £35.00 and the large £60.00.
Izebella seems pretty fascinated by the new basket. It’s almost as big as her and I think she secretly wants it for her dolls. It would of course double up as a toy basket too but for now it’s staying as laundry, sorry Izebella!
We have the fabric baskets too…Metal wires stick out all over the place….lol
That wicker basket looks fantastic….Very practical too x
Ha ha those metal wires are dangerous arent they? Remind me of old bras with the wire coming loose
