Toyologists: Monster high freaky fusion recharge chamber.

A few weeks back we got the very exciting news that we had been chosen as Toyologists to review toys from Toys R Us. The news was very exciting and we sat with sheer anticipation awaiting our first toyologist assignment.

Our first toy arrived last week which cheered up one little girl very much. Jordanna now has the Monster High Freaky Fusion Recharge Chamber.

Jordanna is already a big fan of the monster high dolls so I knew that she would love this.

The contents of the box include a monster high doll (Frankie Stein) a skeleton hair brush and the Freaky Fusion chamber.

The doll is a standard size monster high doll with fully moveable joints and body. She comes dressed in a mini disco dress which is removeable and big yellow lightening heels. Her long hair is a crazy mix of electric blue and yellow.

The Freaky fusion chamber requires minimal assembly, just fixing to the base and the top part attaching. It also needs 3 AA batteries which do not come supplied.

Once the chamber is assembled the doll is placed inside and clipped in. When the button is pressed and held the chamber lights up different colours and the dolls hair goes quite wild with a static effect which is best seen in this video

To be honest that’s pretty much all of what it does but Jordanna seems to love it and Izebella too. Brushing the dolls hair prior to placing in the chamber adds to the static effect and I have no idea how the static hair thing works either so don’t ask me to explain.

It’s quite effective at night time with all the lights off. We can see the light show more clearly and the doll looks quite scary too.

I think Jordanna is hoping it will make her hair stick up to.

This toy (doll and chamber) costs £44.99 from Toys r Us and in my opinion I feel it is overpriced. I think a more reasonable price would be the £25.00 mark considering what it is and what it does. I guess it’s the “monster high” brand name that makes the price higher. It’s suitable for children 6 and over and will no doubt be enjoyed by little girls but I do think it’s one of those toys that may quickly be forgot about after the first few weeks.

If I was to give this a star rating then it would be 3 out of 5.
