Drumond Park: Barbecue Party, review & competition

Our latest family game from Drumond Park is Barbecue Party and probably one of the easiest and nerve racking games so far.

It’s a really simple set up with no batteries and nothing to give out. There is the small barbecue, several food pieces, tongs and playing cards. The only thing we had to do was to put the eyes on the food, which was really fiddly especially with long nails.

The barbecue unit has an on/off switch but needs no batteries it seems to operate off weight and motion. Each player takes turns to pick a card and then, using tongs, places the correct food item onto the barbecue or takes a piece off as required.

When the barbecue gets too heavy or knocked in the wrong way it will catapult the food into the air, thus ending a round. The players never know when this will happen adding to the surprise and shock element. If a player takes an item off the barbecue then they keep the card and food,  and the winner is the first to collect 3 cards and food items.

The game states that it’s suitable for 2-4 players and those 4 and over. As you can see we have 5 players here and also Izebela, being only 2 is also happily joining in and is more than able to understand the game instructions. She can also use the tongs to pick the food up. Therefore I would say that younger ones can play too if supervised.

This game costs around £19.99 from most good toy stores and it doesn’t take up too much space so perfect for travelling and taking away.
