Glow Art boards are a brand new product. It’s a see through board that can be drawn or wrote on. When switched on the board illuminates and whatever is on the board comes to life.
All 3 of my children have one of these boards. They are suitable for any age from 3 and upwards. Adults will no doubt be fascinated by them too.
The box contains one glow board and 4 marker pens. Any non permanent marker pens or felt tips can be used and Glow art sell replacement pens too if needed.
The boards do need 3 AA batteries which does mean 9 at a time for us. I’m unsure how long batteries will last in these as we are all still on our first battery installment so I’m hoping they last a while. The battery cover is fairly hidden underneath the board stand leg.
Once the batteries are in, it’s time to draw. You can draw or write anything on them and even trace things that are behind the board, as it’s totally see through. It’s best doing the creations with a light on, otherwise you won’t be able to see much. The board stands up too like an easel as well as laying flat.
So these just look like regular sketches at the moment and nothing really special, but then we turn the board switch on and look what happens!
It is really effective and dazzling. I got a fair few “Wows” when they first tried it out. The boards work in both light and dark but obviously the better effect is seen when it’s darker.
The boards flash through several colours and can be changed via a push button on the side. Izebella seems to like the red effect best.
Even the most basic images or words will look amazing on one of these boards. The boards certainly provide lots of fun and imagination whatever the age.
Ryan has been gettng quite creative with his, doing lots of tracing from magazines and other images.
The boards have many selectable colour and flash modes to try out. I managed to get a short video clip of Izebellas art work (obviously I helped her with it).
The technology behind the board are dozens of coloured LED lights which create the glowing neon like effects.
When the drawing is finished and a new one is needed it needs to be wiped with a smooth clean dry cloth. As the board is see through it does become a bit murky and stained over time but you can’t really see this when the board is lit up so its not really a huge issue.
These are really amazing products which will keep children fascinated and creative for hours. Without a doubt this will certainly be a popular gift this Christmas. A bit like a modern day etch a sketch but with a brilliant twist. Glow art kids boards cost £24.99 each and can be purchased directly from Glow Art Kids and also Harrods.
