Zomlings (series 5)

Published January 31, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Zomlings come from the same company who bought us our Star monsters many months ago – Magic box toys. Although zomlings are now on series 5, I have never actually heard of them. So… just what are they?

Well as the name sort of suggests, they are zombie type figures, and the sort that can be collected and swapped between friends. Unlike our usual figure collections which happen to be cute and girly, these are a little different being squishy and a little weird. However I can still see them being highly collectible with the addition of the ultra rare collectable figures and vehicles.

I have given the Zomlings pack to Ryan. The girls have more than enough collected figures and these do seem more of a thing a boy would like.

These are what you get with zomlings. It is mostly “blind” packs meaning it’s a surprise figure each time. The big book type item is a zomlings town map.

Each zomling has a name and a guide comes included. Many of the zomlings come with a veichle or a house of some sort. These include police cars, fire trucks, towers, police stations and ice cream shops. The idea is to build the town on the map and collect all the figures.

The shiny metallic items are the more rare and more collectible pieces.

Zomlings series 5 figures will be in most supermarkets and stores that sell this type of product from tomorrow (February 1st) They don’t cost too much either, starting under one pound for the smallest packs.

Heavenly scents this Valentine’s Day

Published January 30, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Yes it almost February already and February is all about love and romance (the things I lack at the moment!) and also lovely fragrances.

This is the body & soul collection from Joan Collins timeless beauty and it would make a lovely valentines gift. Unlike many beauty/fragrance sets which come with body cream of some sort (which rarely gets used) this one comes with both perfume and a reed diffuser.

The scent – I am woman is similar in both the products so both room and woman can smell equally as good. The perfume is a fairly strong one with both woody, floral  and citrus hints, tho it’s not so overpowering that it smells like an old ladys handbag as it does have softer tones to it too. The eau du perfume bottle is fairly small in this set being only 12ml but with this, a little really does go a long way.

The reed diffuser comes with a fragrance bottle and several reeds. The reeds just sit in the liquid and I turn them twice daily. It gives a different but rather lovely scent to my room. The diffuser liquid will eventually all evaporate into the air but this will probably take many weeks so the scent will be around for a while.

The set costs about £32.50 and can be purchased from Joan Collins beauty, QVC, Urban retreat, Harrods and M&S

First Degustabox of 2017

Published January 30, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I am very happy to still be recieving my monthly Degustaboxes. I never know exactly what I’m going to get inside so it’s always a nice surprise.

This months box (January) contained a lovely selection of drinks, and snacks. The first product I had, which I finished rather quickly, is the Protein boost shake.

Anything that tastes good and is also good for you is a bonus and this ticks both the boxes.

And keeping with the drink/beverage products, look at all these!

There are 2 Aspire cans which have a green tea base so once again healthy. A can of Crabbies ginger beer which is the alcoholic version, so not for inquisitive children and a bottle from Chosan. Chosan appears to be an organic drink with ginger and hibiscus. So yes I can only assume that January’s box may just be themed around healthier foods.

Then some instant coffee from Littles which comes flavoured with natural vanilla. If the coffee isn’t sweet enough then add a spoon of Natvia.

Natvia is a natural sweetener with zero calories and tastes fairly similar when added to hot drinks, so yes once again a healthy start to the Degustabox year with this box! However that’s when I found the surprise white package as in the photograph above!

Now this was a nice surprise. It’s from Pip’s real hot chocolate company. Unlike the usual hot chocolate which you make with powder; this one is a solid chunky chocolate disc which gets added to hot milk and then dissolves just like this. See the bits of delicious melting chocolate stuck to the sides!

This milky chocolate drink was delucious and even made me feel a bit sleepy after it. Shame there was only one in my box.

Moving on from all the lovely drinks, the box contained some rather lovely snacks too like these four items.

Popchips – Now these are one addictive snack and luckily they contain less than 100 calories per serving. I’m just not sure if a serving means the whole bag or not. I really love bacon flavour snacks too.

Snapea – I have tried a few times previous. At first they did not sound too appealing being made with green peas (Yuk!) but I honestly cannot taste any peas at all.

Finn Crisp – Think healthy nibble crackers, a bit like small bits of Ryvita but much tastier.

Fruittella – 30% less sugar so much healthier with even more fruit juice inside.
Plus- Chia Co and Quinola Mothegrain!

The Quinola I’m giving a miss. I’m not a big fan of the stuff and it’s also cooked with split peas which I don’t like either. The Chia seeds, I am a little confused by as I really don’t know what to do with them. I think they can be added to hot drinks and desserts and they provide multiple health benefits such as fibre and omega 3 but I’m yet to use them.

And finally………….. The Collective gourmet yoghurt!

No this was not in the box, it wouldn’t last long without being in a fridge. Instead I found a voucher to buy one. I have had this yoghurt many times. In fact a tub or two is usually in my weekly shop. The Russian fudge is a favorite of mine but there are other varieties in both big and little pots. This yoghurt is deliciously creamy and has a unique taste compared to other yoghurts.

Now for just £12.99 per monthly box, I don’t think anyone can grumble about all these tasty products inside; but if your still feeling the Xmas pinch then I have a very special code to get a box for even less. Use this code 0MES2 and get the box for just £5.99. You sign up to the box subscription at the Degustabox website. It is a really good monthly box and as many of you probably know – I have tried a fair few of the many subscriptions out there.

Sylvanian goat family

Published January 27, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This is our latest and rather cute Sylvanian family set and this time it’s a goat family with 4 members.

After doing a little research on the internet I have found out that this particular family is known as “The Brightfield Goat family”;  yes all the character sets  come with family names. There is Father Billy, Mother Nancy, Sister Mandy and Baby Jenny.

Father Billy is a postman, hence the blue bag, Mother Nancy loves to sew and make cushions for the nursery, Mandy likes reading and writing and baby Jenny enjoys trips to the park and going to nursery. Each Sylvanian character comes with its own role and personality too.

As always Izebella was happy to add more Sylvanian characters to her ever expanding collection of these adorable, sweet, furry animal figures and she had only had them minute before their clothes came off and got swapped around (something she loves to do).

A Sylvanian family set such as this goat family will cost between £10-£16 depending on store.

Sylvanian families are collectible figures which have been around for decades. It’s one of those toys that will probably be around for ever and it’s easy to see why, they are very cute and appealing. Many toy stores and supermarkets will stock various Sylvanian family products.

What’s inside *Fred’s Box* review & giveaway

Published January 26, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This mysterious little box came through my door a few days ago, but what could possibly be inside?

Well no, there are no Fred’s inside it but there are people of some sort!

Yes it’s mini figures. The box can be a subscription service or a one off gift and each box contains many mini figures just like the ones I found in our box. There are hundreds of these to collect with many themes too – such as movies, tv , Christmas, Easter, princesses, heroes and more.
The box we have is the larger box containing 10 figures. There are options of a medium box with 6 figures and the small box with 2 figures and the price starts at £4.85. There is an option of selecting a girls, boys or unisex box too and a further option of adding greeting cards.

The figures are small and can be played with most leading brands of lego. My 4 year old has some strange obsession with Harley Quinn and look what we got in our box!

Also a few batman figures and others that I’m not too sure on, but I’m sure my kids will no doubt let me know.

If I was to put this subscription box into a category then it would be between kids and geek as it’s a little bit of both. Kids will no doubt love collecting and using the figures with their lego; but I also think many men out there may just enjoy re-living  their childhoods and wanting to collect these figures, especially so the old movie and more retro type figures.

My children seemed happy enough with it. Izebella loving the Harley Quinn figure and only that one. Ryan of course seemed most interested so maybe it is more of a boy thing as Jordanna isn’t really into lego and these type of figures any more but Ryan loves it.

If interested you can get your Fred’s box here and there is also a chance to win one below.
COMPETITION

Fred’s box are giving one winner a 3 month subscription to one of their small boxes. You will get 2 figures each time, so a total of 6 over the 3 months.

Charlie Doodle review & giveaway

Published January 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Izebella is one very clever 4 year old who can recognise letters and even small words. She is very interested in the alphabet and how things are spelt at the moment so I don’t think there could have been a better time for a personalised print from Charlie Doodle.
Charlie Doodle sell a fair few items for the home and as gifts but their main things seems to be wall art and prints. For young children there are these personalised wall prints which come on choices of colour and the option of a frame with the print.

The prints come with the child’s name on and many drawings of things beginning with the letter of the child’s name, so in this case it’s an I.

Izebella is very happy with her new framed picture as cannot wait to have it up on her wall above her bed. The letter I is perhaps not one of the easiest letters to think up objects and words for but there are 18 or so words on there. Izebella recognised a few of the images and she knows they all began with the letter I, just like her name.

The personalised prints come as A4 size and start at £14.00.

Win a print

And now it’s your turn to get your own personalised child’s print. The prints are recommended for children under 10 and as you can see, they are really unique. Charlie Doodle are giving away one of their wall prints to one of my readers. The prints come in a choice of colour borders, being white, pink and blue and the winner picks their colour.

To take part in this giveaway you must have both a Facebook and twitter account and be a U.K. resident. This giveaway will close on February 14th 2017. One winner will be contacted by email.

Love the Sales!

Published January 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Yes I do love the sales but that was not actually a question. I wanted to share a website that I recently came across called Love the Sales. This website is particularly handy for people like myself who just love bargains. Love the Sales don’t exactly sell products themselves but they partner with hundreds of stores worldwide to find the best offers and discounts and put them all in one place. By using this website you can find the best deals on items you really want. Prices change frequently so it helps to shop around for deals and this website makes it easier as all the main brands are in one place.

I have just finished decorating my hallway and my home was missing one important thing – A big mirror. I used the Love the sales website to find the perfect one. I typed in mirror into the search bar and many of them came up, so I then sorted via price order and finally found this one.

This Shelley oval mirror is sold by Marks and Spencer’s. The usual price is £69.00 and the price sticker was on the back of the mirror when it arrived. However Love the sales tells shoppers the now discounted price of £35.99 which is almost half price. See it for yourself here.

And now I have a very beautiful and fairly large mirror taking pride of place on my hallway wall.

It’s a lovely pretty mirror, the colour states pale blue but it’s more of a turquoise or very pale green colour which works fine with the purple background. It’s 60cm high and designed with flowers around the edging.

I am very happy with my mirror and will be checking Love the Sales for more bargains.

New num noms are here

Published January 19, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Look at this happy little face!

She’s happy because the new series of num noms have arrived. Izebella absolutely loves these tiny plastic collectables. I have even bought her a special large box just to keep them in.

These are Num noms series 3, and I’m thinking we made need a bigger box soon if many more series follow these. Series 3 seems to be all about sweets and candy type food stuff and it’s okay that they aren’t so healthy because kids aren’t eating them but collecting, stacking and playing instead.

Like previous series these come as collectable blister packs and the blind “surprise” boxes and a full collectors sheet of each num nom in this series. The new additions this time are the eraser noms.

As well as the new series 3, Izebella also now has some of the brand new num nom lights.

These can be stacked and played with in the same way as regular num noms but they light up too. Izebella got 2 blind boxes and both contained one of the rarer special edition lights.

Again happy faces all round!

Buy num noms from most good toy stores and supermarkets, prices vary.

My first attempt at decorating

Published January 18, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I am probably the most anti-diy person in the world; but I have come to realize that if I really want something doing then I have to try it myself, either that or pay someone a ridiculous amount to do it for me.

I have been wanting my hallway redone for ages as it’s not been touched at all since we moved in. I did the majority of painting before Christmas which was not too difficult and now attempting the wallpapering a bit at a time. As I have never done it before, I don’t think I’ve done too bad a job.

I purchased both the wallpaper and the paint from Graham Brown, both in the sale.

The wallpaper is paste the wall. I can’t really do a comparison to the normal paste the paper type as I’ve not used it. However from just watching others decorate this paste the wall type paper looks so much easier. No decorating table is needed, no measuring each piece and no sponging. I just pasted the wall and hung it. The hardest part for me was cutting away the excess around the edges.

I will post more pictures once the rest is done. Now I have the hang of it I may even do the rest of the house myself too.

Oh and I highly recommend ready mixed wallpaper paste too rather than attempting to mix your own.
