Our Ciao bimba doll –  Anouk

Even though I grew out of playing with dolls many years ago, I still get a sense of nostalgic excitement when I see one that’s unique and collectable.
Ciao bimba dolls are certainly special and each one is produced in limited numbers. Ciao bimba dolls come made with all natural materials right down to what they wear. These materials include Guetermann Mara threads and polyester. All the dolls are made exclusively in the Bulgaria studio and sold on their own Ciao bimba website. You won’t find these dolls in your local toy stores.
The dolls come in limited collections and although they are not necessarily one off productions, being handmade means they may vary slightly and therefore come with their own personality.
As well as different names, personalities and clothing; the dolls also come in slightly different sizes – Classic Ciao Bimba is 46cm (18in) tall, Darling Ciao Bimba is 48cm (19in) tall, and the smaller dolls are Mini Ciao Bimba, Baby Ciao Bimba and Mini Bambini.
We are very lucky and  very happy to now own a Ciao bimba doll of our choosing. This is how the doll will arrive.

The dolls come in their own large box which we have kept, this also doubles up as a dolls bed as its strong and sturdy and makes a good safe place to keep the doll.

I chose Anouk doll. The reason being because she has reddish colour hair which is curly and so it’s something my girls could relate to a little. I also loved her clothing and well she’s just so sweet isn’t she?

Anouk is a Classic Ciao Bimba doll. She stands 46 cm (18 in) tall. Anouk comes with her own jersey shirt, Tatum Liberty print dress, hat, underwear and shoes.

I was quite surprised at just how pretty this doll is. She is also very unusual and unique. She looks a little like a rag doll from a distance but feels much different and is also bigger. Our new friend Anouk is extremely good for cuddles.

Her clothes are all fully removeable and can be washed. She is a similar size to a baby so may fit in baby clothes if we wish to change her. And look she even has a belly button! How cute.

Izebella sure seems fascinated by our new little house guest.
Now as you can probably guess! A handmade, natural limited edition doll is not going to come cheap, even if they are designed to be cuddly companions for little girls. Ciao Bimba is based in Bulgaria so all the prices are in Euros. The prices are different for each doll but for Anouk, she costs €204 which converts to about £173 or just under which is without a doubt a high price to pay for a doll.  If your a lover of dolls or a collector of dolls or nice things (like me) then it may be worth buying one. The Ciao Bimba website is lovely to browse and clearly indicates that their dolls are aimed at girls to play with, but if your a parent purchasing one for a young child then I imagine having big reservations about this doll being taken outdoors or to a friends etc after paying so much for one.

Anouk is a beautiful doll which I’m sure will bring us all lots of happy play time and hugs.
And incase you wanted to know – Ciao Bimba translates to Hello baby girl in Italian.
