Ssshh it’s baby Secrets

Published December 26, 2017 by Bizzimummy

There’s a new collectible in town that may just be very popular in 2018. It’s baby secrets.

BabySecrets are miniature baby dolls, but unlike many other baby dolls, they come with many strange facial features like this one.

There are currently 50 or so of these strange babies to collect. They all come with accessories too such as these little baths and sometimes other things too. The baths can be filled with water and the water determines if the baby is a boy or a girl. Each one even comes with its own blank birth certificate to fill out once the baby sex is discovered.

They come in multi activity packs and also blind packs meaning you never know what’s inside until it’s opened up.

They are rather strange looking babies aren’t they? Prices start at £2.99.

Make sure the turkey is cooked this Christmas

Published December 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Do you know how hot a turkey should be when it’s cooked? No me neither tho a bit of research tells me it’s 75-80C internal. If not cooked correctly or properly then Christmas dinner can soon turn into the stuff of nightmares.

The most accurate way to check the temperature of a turkey, any other meats or even cakes is by using a special food thermometer such as this handy gadget called thermapen.

Thermapens look simple but they don’t come cheap, retailing at around £65 each. They are however a one off purchase and it gives a slight peace of mind knowing that this can accurately read internal temperatures of food. Thus minimising the risk of food poisoning.

The device, which resembles a parked red Ferrari is ready to use straight out of the packet. The battery which is a AAA is already pre installed. There is a hidden settings menu but to be honest I doubt I’ll need to access this as it’s already set up to use.

When the metal thermometer prong is pulled out, this instantly starts the digital thermometer reading and when folded back up it turns it off.

The device will calculate the room temperature before even touching food. Touching the prong also calculates your body temperature so yes it’s a really clever device. To test the temperature of food, and turkey in particular the prong gets inserted into the the thickest part. The digital sensor will start to calculate the temperature inside the bird. Sometimes the display keeps changing but thats because the meat is still cooking inside.

It works inside fridges and freezers too to determine if it’s cool enough. There is a handy backlight on the device which automatically comes on if the device senses that there is not enough light.

It’s a small gadget with lots of uses and worth the investment for many years ahead.

Last minute gifts for the girls – Baby Born Bath

Published December 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Most little girls love Baby Born and my little girl is no exception. Just a few days ago she was delighted to receive an early present from Santa to use with her Baby Born doll.

Her very own Baby Born interactive bath tub. This is no plain normal bath tub that just gets filled with water, no this tub is lots of fun and has lots of extra features.

The tub lights up whilst Baby is bathing and even plays music. There are bubble sounds and laughter too and all sorts of other fun sounds. The water pump makes water flow from the shower head and then the foaming pump makes the water foam up more.

Bubbles can be added for lots of foamy fun and it also comes with a little duck friend too.

It’s all ready to go straight from the box and even came with batteries ready installed.

This costs approximately £39.99 from most good toy retailers. The Baby Born doll is a separate purchase but most standard size baby dolls will fit in the bath.

Last minute gifts for kids – Haynes

Published December 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

If your dad or grandad drove a car when you were younger, then it’s highly likely he had some sort of car manual from a company called Haynes. This symbol may just get those bells ringing!

Yes Haynes are the producers of many car guides and manuals and I certainly recall both my father and grandfather having these books back in the early 1980s.

Of course times have moved on and companies become more developed. Haynes are still selling their ever so popular hand books but they now have something else too. They have special engine kits designed for teens and big boys (& the girls too of course)

There’s a few of them to choose from with each one costing anything from £20 upwards. They are all based on real engines from various vehicles, something I know absolutely nothing about, but the sort of stuff my teenage son loves doing.

Ryan has this jet engine which is modelled around an actual jet engine. Being a science kit does mean it comes with lots and lots of parts that need putting together a certain way to build this.

If built correctly the engine will move. It had motorised parts and realistic jet engine sounds. This particular Haynes kit is on the higher price range being just under the £40 price tag.

It is classed as a STEM science product which can be read about here. It does contain lots of parts, over 50 and is suitable for anyone over the age of 10 years. It’s not the easiest thing to put together and as we only got this a day ago, we just haven’t had the time to get it all put together just yet. We are getting there slowly.

Last minute toys – Xtrem Bots

Published December 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

If you haven’t bought that present for say a niece or nephew or even your own darling child then fear not as there is still time, approximately a day and a half of shopping left.

Today I am going to be featuring a few last minute ideas for the kids.

Starting with a present that has been popular for a fair few decades now. It’s a robot.

This is the Xtrem bot, it retails in Argos and Amazon at £29.99 and is also available from other stores. Kids who like their robotics and gadgets will love this guy. He talks and walks and can be programmed with a huge 50 Different actions at once.

He doesn’t just walk one way either like some other robots do. No he can walk forwards, backwards and even side to side, he also slides and even dances.

He does various facial expressions too. His language is quite limited to his own “robot” type language and the very smart remote has a really good range on it.

Xtrem bot is suitable for children 5 and over.

Christmas crafting with gel – a – peel

Published December 21, 2017 by Bizzimummy

My girls have once again been busy doing some crafting with another gel-a-peel set.

They were kindly supplied with many decorations just screaming out for a little bit of extra gel colour.

Gel-a-peel is like a colourful squeezy sage glue for children. It comes out like gel and then sets and dries. Using the tubes does take a bit of practice so that the gel doesn’t come out too fast. Most kits contain a few tubes of the coloured gel plus other small accessories.

My girls love using this stuff, it’s safe and non toxic and fairly mess free too.

Last minute gifts for him: Magnitone London

Published December 20, 2017 by Bizzimummy

We all know it’s usually the males who leave their Christmas shopping until the last minute, very often Christmas Eve. But… occasionally us ladies do the same or perhaps accidentally forget that male family member or friend.

For me, I don’t buy for that many males. I’m single for a start and haven’t spoken to my father in a long time. My son is the main male I buy for, he’s now 13 and a typical teenager, meaning lazy, dirty, and seems to have a bath phobia. I have to constantly mither him to get bathed or showered.

Well I recently received some male grooming products from a place called Magnitone London. They also sell female beauty products as well, but this time it’s all about the boys.

These two products form part of the men’s collection at Magnitone and include a clean sweep energising face wash which costs £9.99 and the clean sweep moisturiser at £12.00. They are designed for men, more so adult males, but Ryan is taller than me so he sort of counts.

The products contain caffeine, ginseng and various helpful vitamins. The moisturiser can be used after shaving or just to help the skin in general and may even help with spots and conditions.

Buy from Magnitone London.

Baby Annabell learns to swim

Published December 19, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Izebella is a big fan of Baby Annabell and was very excited to be trying out the latest “learn to swim” doll.

Baby Annabell learns to swim is a very clever doll and does exactly what her name suggests – she learns to swim.

She comes complete with an ever so cute baby swim costume and a pair of tiny little armbands and her own little towel.

She needs 3 AA batteries to get going, but if your anything like me at this time of year, then you’ll probably already have a fairly well stocked battery drawer.

Baby Annabell makes a few sounds too like giggling and coping like a real baby. She splashes whilst in a sit up position and then floats on her back whilst babbling away. She even kicks her legs whilst moving slowly in the water, just like a real baby learning to swim.

Sometimes the doll does get a little too full of water and becomes a little bit too heavy to swim. She has a special drain hole and just needs the water draining every now and again to get going again. Once out of the water she obviously needs draining again and drying off with her special towel.

She can go in the bath or a swimming pool meaning she makes a good little travel companion too.
