Books always make excellent stocking fillers. My children have a mini library, a book case full of hundreds of different books and thanks to Scholastic books they now have some more.
I did not know which books we were being sent but I was really happy with this selection as each book is suitable to the age of my children.
Christmas around the world – for Izebella is a lovely festive read which follows the Christmas story around several countries and how different places celebrate. It’s not one that Izebella can read herself just yet but it does make a nice bedtime read.
The girl who saved Christmas – for Jordanna tells the story of a girl named Amelia Wishart who becomes trapped on Christmas Eve in a workhouse and needs to be found by Father Christmas. There is lots of magic, pixies and more in this story.
Refugee – This one is for Ryan but I was really inspired by the plot and have decided to read it myself. As the title states it is about refugees but tells the story of three child refugees from different countries and different decades and their harrowing escape to safety. It’s really sad in parts but a great read.
All of these titles are available on the Scholastic website to buy.
Last year Scholastic books hosted the #GIVEABOOK campaign. This meant many schools and nurseries could win free books. The campaign was a big success and is back once again this year.
This year, Scholastic’s Santa style sack is packed even fuller with enough books to donate to five schools or nurseries. Join the conversation on social media and tell us at Scholastic which is your favourite book to give to a child, and why, using the hashtag #GiveABook by 15th December and we’ll select our five favourite posts and donate £50 worth of books to a school or nursery of the winners’ choice.
- To enter the competition, all you need to do is tell us which children’s book you’d love to give to a child this Christmas and why, tagging Scholastic and using the hashtag #GiveABook. The five winners will be able to nominate their chosen school or nursery to receive a £50 credit to their Scholastic account, which can be exchanged for free books. Entries need to be made by midnight on Friday 15th December.
