3 Things To Consider When Renovating Your Bathroom

If you have a bathroom in your home that you’re looking to renovate, there are a few things that you’re going to want to carefully think through before you get too far down this road. Otherwise, you could wind up spending a lot of money on renovations that won’t actually serve you as well as they could.

To help ensure that this doesn’t happen to you during your renovation, here are three things to consider when renovating your bathroom.

Think About Accessibility

One of the first things that you should concern yourself with when you’re renovating a bathroom is what the accessibility of this space is going to be like. Even if you yourself aren’t worried about making things different for your own purposes, if someone ever lives in your home that needs more accessibility in the bathroom, you’re going to be glad that you thought of this beforehand. And, when it comes time to sell your home, the right buyer could pay handsomely for these accommodations.

As far as accessibility is concerned, you’ll want to think about things like putting down tiles that are small and safer to walk on when the floor is wet, installing grab bars so that there’s something sturdy to hold onto, making all of the faucet levers easy to grip, and having lots of space to move around if you need to use something like a walker or wheelchair.

Plan Outlet Placement Wisely

Before you get everything set in place within the new configuration of your renovated bathroom, you’ll want to think about where the outlets are placed throughout the space. Not only will wise outlet placement help to make things more convenient when you’re in the bathroom, but it can also help ensure that you and everyone else in your home is able to stay safe in this space.

Ideally, you should have outlets in a place where your electrical objects can safely sit during use. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure that you include enough outlets in the space, as you might have more items that need to be plugged in than you realize off of the top of your head.

Consider The Height Of Everything

Since you’re renovating your bathroom, you can now make all of the design decisions about the space, including what height you want everything to be.

Depending on how tall you are, you may want to make things either higher or lower than what you’ve been using in the past. Just make sure that you remember not only your comfort level, but the level at which other people in your home will be comfortable using as well.

If you’re planning to renovate your bathroom in the near future, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you make this space exactly what you want it to be.
