Beauty gift guide: Oral B genius 9000

Published November 27, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I purchased my first Oral B toothbrush several years ago and have never gone back to a manual brush since. Since using Oral B, my overall dental health has improved greatly. Now all four of us all have our own Oral B electric toothbrushes and that’s all we intend to use.

There are many Oral B electric brushes to choose from. These range from the more basic and less expensive to the more powerful costing a few hundred. Each one does a great job it just depends which one suits.

I am now using the new Oral B 9000

This seems to be one of the higher end models and it’s easy to see why when you read all the specifications and what this brush does.

In the box, comes the brush in a choice of white or sleek shiny black design, you get the basic white two pin charger which if you don’t have a razor port you’ll need an adaptor. There’s also the black case which has its own special charger. A brush head holder, four brush heads and a mobile phone holder with mirror suction. So a fair few bits for one brush.

I do prefer the black design on this, as opposed to the usual standard white brushes. I find the white ones attract more stains which make the brushes look dirty. The compact hard tough case also protects the brush from dirt and airborne nasties.

This charging case even comes with a usb charging port too. Meaning phones can be charged at the same time as the brush.

The brush has more than one brushing function. The down arrow button is used to activate each one. A normal clean does not need to be activated  this is standard. The button functions are – pro clean, sensitive, 3D white, Gum Care and Tongue clean.

This brush is also Bluetooth enabled and connects to a free app. The app is really good. It tells me how good I’m brushing and how much of my mouth I’m covering etc, also if I press too hard. It provides lots of useful tips too.

The instructions suggest attaching the phone holder to a bathroom mirror via the suction cups.

I haven’t done this with my phone because my mirror is just too close to my toilet and I have visions of it coming loose and bye bye phone! So I just position mine elsewhere and it still works fine.

The app even allows me to change the colour of the lights on the brush, from white to any colour of my choosing. Izebella insisted I had to have bright pink so that’s what it is. My brush came fully charged ready to use and charging is quick compared to other brushes tho I do wish Oral B would include charging adaptorsd and we aren’t all lucky enough to have bathroom charge ports.

Now the price of this one varies greatly across stores. The RRP is a huge £280 but Boots are currently selling for just £99 and Amazon £89.00. I’m not sure those low prices will last so it’s best to buy before they go.

ZacSmart – interesting gifts & home stuff

Published November 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

ZacSmart certainly sell some unusual yet very practical gifts. A browse of their website is certainly worth it. Many of their items crafted from wooden with stunning fine detail.

We have one of these beautiful Cantilever wooden sewing boxes. They cost just £24.99. They are great for those who enjoy sewing and crafts for keeping needles, thread, bits of fabric in. However no one in this house really enjoys sewing much at all, but this box can be used for many other things too other than sewing accessories.

’s also good for storing stationary with many different compartments for pens and accessories. Or even a make up box or tool box. I’ve not quite decided what I’m going to use it for just yet but I absolutely love it. There is so much space inside.

We also have a lovely wooden photo frame. The frames start at under £4.00. Frames with a photograph always seem to make nice gifts and especially when it’s family or friends you don’t see often.

The frame can be positioned either way and has a rear strut stand to prop it up.

Other gifts from ZacSmart include mirrors, money boxes, storage, trinket boxes and much more.

Gifts for Girls: Gel-a-Peel

Published November 22, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Gel-a-Peel is still a fairly new product. It came out a few years back and my girls have enjoyed crafting with a few sets over the years.

Gel-a-Peel is a new way of crafting and combines a safe non toxic gluey substance with colours. Kids can they create all sorts of things, pictured. Jewellery, or decorating bags and other items.

The coloured gel comes in squeezy tubes along with applicators to attach. The gel comes out and then sets and sticks and goes harder.

One of the new sets is a special colour change kit. The coloured gel in this kit reacts to the light and will change colour.

This set contains 3 colour change gel tubes along with gel trays and templates. It’s easy to do but the finished designs don’t always resemble those pretty ones that appear on the box.

Gel-a-Peel kits vary in price. It keeps my girls busy for a while when the weather is too bad to play out.

The kits are aimed at girls ages 8 and over. I allow Izebella to also use the kits with supervision as she does have a strange tendency to put things in her mouth at the age of 5.

It doesn’t always work out how we intend it to. If the designs are too thin then they will just snap and fall apart. If they are made too thick, with too much gel then they take forever to dry and again end up breaking or never gelling properly so it does take practice to get better results. It can also get messy too so it’s best done on the floor, or on a cleanable sheet or surface.

Gifts for girls: My little Baby Born walks

Published November 21, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Continuing with my “Gifts for Girls” features today I have the new “Baby Annabell learns to walk”

If there is one gift that can be guaranteed to be on a young girls wish list at some point, then it has to be a Baby Born doll. This is the sort of doll that I would have wanted when younger and having two girls myself means I am very familiar with the Baby Born range.

This little darling comes dressed in a gorgeous pink dress and matching hat. There is a while boutique of Baby Born clothes that can be purchase separately. She looks like a small baby with realistic features.

Baby Born walk doll does just that, she walks just like a baby would. She is sound activated and comes with a rattle. When she hears the rattle or another sound such as a hand clap, she will walk.

Her walking function works best on solid flat floors such as wooden or vinyl etc, she isn’t too great on thick carpet so we tend to use her in the dining room.

She also cries and babbles too which adds to the dolls realistic baby features even more. Izebella loves the new doll and enjoys trying to get her to walk by clapping, shouting and rattling the rattle.

I think this Baby Born doll is very reasonably priced compared to previous Baby Born dolls. It can be purchased for less than £30.00 at many toy stores and is suitable for little people aged 2 and over.

And now for – “Something Different”

Published November 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Something Different is actually the name of an online wholesaler and distributor of many unusual, fun and perhaps a little bizarre items. If you’re wanting an unusual gift and stuck for ideas then this could be the perfect place to browse!

Their product category list is enormous, from clothing to books and decorations to children’s stuff, there is just so much to choose from. This is my ideal online shopping heaven.

Some of you may know that I am actually pagan and therefore I love the things that most people would find strange and unusual or even a bit weird. Items like this burner that I can decorate my home with any time of the year.

I actually have a pentagram on my back, as well as on several things around my home. This elegant tea light oil burner lamp is created with soap stone. The idea is to place a tea light inside and oils in the top bowl. The candle heat then gently warms the oils releasing aroma into my home. The candles and oil don’t come with the burner, but can be bought from many stores inexpensively.

These are just some of the candles from the website.

They are chakra candles. The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. Each one of these small candles represents one of the Chakras.

They are designed to be lit and burned in glass holders and release strong relaxing aromas. The aromas can be sensed without lighting them too. I really like these.

Now this is so pretty – it’s a lotus flower candle holder.

Again this has something to do with the the Chakras and in this case – Chakra 7 which is violet and is the highest (crown) chakra located at the top of the head. Violet has a lot of meanings – spirituality, wholeness, letting go, magic and mysticism to name a few.

I found this lotus flower really alluring and when it’s near light or when a candle is inside it seems to change colour slightly  – it certainly is mystifying.

I own and often use tarot cards, although  I tend to stick to reading my own cards and those of very close friends only (my family thinks it’s a load of rubbish). These lovely two items come in useful for storing the cards and also make extremely beautiful decorative features.

Again both with the pentagram symbols I have a triple moon goddess tarot bag in rich velvet and a Celtic pentacle tarot box in embossed finished silver which as you can see is just absolutely stunning.

A perfect place to keep gems, runes, spells and small items as welll as tarot cards.

Something Different even have lots of clothing apparel and accesssories for both adults and children in many themes. Us girls all love our unicorns and fantasy in this house and for those who like something  a bit darker, welll there’s goth and many other t-shirts just like the ones we have .

And for gifts – they have jewellery items like this gorgeous angel star stone necklace.

Or a pair of monster claws for the feet!

Well monster slippers really but so warm and fluffy and good for both  big and little monsters alike.

For the little monsters who are feeling the cold already then wrap them up in one of these!

It’s a lazy one critter blanket and they come with all sorts of crittter and monster designs. Very big, fleecy and so snuggly, mini critters just won’t want to unwrap out of them.

Alll of these amazing products and more can be viewed on the Something Different website but only trade orders are accepted on there.

Many of the products can be purchased via Amazon or  through  one of these retailer links.

Christmas pamper gift guide for her

Published November 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Us ladies love our beauty and pamper gifts don’t we? Anything that smells great, and makes us feel great using it always makes a much wanted Christmas gift no matter how big or small.

I am including a few of my favourite pamper type gifts today. I would be very happy if I found these in my stocking on Christmas morning.

1) Heathcote & IvoryWhether its bath treats or hand and body care, Heathcote & Ivory have so many wonderful gifts to choose from for the special ladies in your life.

Like this hand cream trio enriched with natural soothing extracts, just what hard working mums need at the end of Christmas Day.

Or for relaxing in a hot bath on Christmas night, surrounded by fragranced flower petals perhaps? These look just like real flower petals. They dissolve in a hot bath, and make it a little like an oriental experience.

2) Niveaare certainly a well known brand no matter what time of the year. They are possibly best known for soothing skin creams but their Christmas gifts make lovely inexpensive surprises.

This heart shaped perfect skin gift tin can be purchased in Boots and Tesco stores for around £7.50.

Inside there are three products –

NIVEA Indulgent Moisture Rode Shower Cream 250ml

NIVEA Rose & Argan Oil in Lotion 200ml

NIVEA Soft Rose Caring Lip Balm 4.8g

And of course the tin itself is completely reusable and good for keeping small bits of make up inside.

Also fromNivea Uk; and just for the lips, as no one likes chapped lips at this time of year. It’s a lip butter duo.
And in a very festive elf package, a perfect stocking filller for small or big girls.

3) For the Little ladies – Daniel Galvin!

I thought I’d give this a mention for Christmas as they do make nice extra stocking fillers for little ladies.

It’s a new product from the Daniel Galvin “dubble trubble” product line. It doubles up as both a shampoo and body wash. Being cherry bomb means it smells delicious and my girls love it.

4) St Morizbecause no one likes to look pale and pasty around Christmas time and not got the Xmas snaps. Everyone longs for a winter tan, but sadly that’s impossible here in the “not so sunny” UK.

This is one of my favourite self tan products from St Moriz. It’s the velvet finish gel. It goes on white and within  a few hours it leaves a lovely steak free velvet finish all over tan. Addd this one to a home made beauty hamper.

5) Crabtree & EvelynRelax and unwind with gifts from Crabtree & Evelyn bath +body gifts. They are big on luxury fragrances such as their rosewater & Peppercorn items. Containing natural products and real essential oils, your gift recipient will no doubt smell the lovely aroma before they open their gift on Christmas morning. Choose from soaps, lotions, creams and bathing products.

6) Yankee – There is only one thing that Yankee is famous for and that’s its selection of beautiful scented candles, just like this one. So many sizes, styles and fragrances to choose from, a Yankee candle is sure to bring delight to any lady and her home.

So whatever you buy that special lady this Christmas, make it a special one!

Christmas shortbread from Walkers

Published November 7, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Walkers are well known for their fabulous range of shortbread biscuits and gifts. The factory is based in Scotland and Walkers  began over a hundred years ago.

Walkers began with one man back in 1898 – Joseph Walker and has remained a family company ever since. The history of Walkers Shortbread makes an interesting read over on the Walkers website

Walkers shortbread products are available in all supermarkets and many shops throughout the year. At Christmas time, Walkers bring out a few extra special products containing their finest shortbread and a few extra products too.

Walkers shortbread has a unique sweet buttery taste that sort of just melts away in the mouth. Combine that shortbread with rich chocolate and a hot drink on a cold Christmas night and it’s just divine. These luxury shortbread Christmas boxes contain assortments of chocolate shortbread, just perfect for the festive season.

Walkers also produce various cakes, tarts and mince pies as well as their famous shortbread.

I have no idea how to correctly pronounce Ecclefechan tarts but they are a little similar to mince pies in that they contain a mixture of sultanas, cherries, sugar and almonds inside a butter pastry casing. The mince pies here contain a few extra “Christmassy” type ingredients such as more fruit and a few extra spices. But both go down very well on a Christmas dinner table.

Walkers also boast some lovely shortbread gifts too. Such as these two tins.

The Rockin Robin tin actually stands up and contains star shaped shortbread biscuits. The Christmas wreath tin is full of chocolate cookies.

Lots more Christmas gifts are available to buy direct from the Walkers website. Of course shortbread is one of those products that can be enjoyed all year round but seeing packs of Walkers Shortbread always makes me think of Christmas!

Lily O’Briens petit indulgence Collection

Published November 2, 2017 by Bizzimummy

If chocolates are on your to buy present list this Christmas then consider making it a special box of chocolates rather than the usual same old yearly box.

Lily O’Briens are one brand that I would consider more suited for special occasions such as Christmas and birthdays. A nice luxury box with assortments of fine truffles and melt in the mouth pralines. Surprising they don’t cost the Earth either despite being much nicer than many other chocolate brands found in supermarkets.

Yes that’s correct, many of Lily O’Briens chocolate boxes can be found in various supermarkets.

This Petit Indulgence Collection is very deceptive. The box is small so it made me think that there was not going to be all that many chocolates inside. However what I did not realise is that this small box actually contains 3 layers of six chocolates per layer, thus giving 18 chocolates in total.

There are six varieties of chocolate in this one box, 3 of each one, so plenty to share if feeling generous. Each one is extremely satisfying in its own way. It’s also a mixed combination of milk, dark and whites chocolate varieties and a mixture of fillings.

And all for just £5.50 in Waitrose too.

The presentation box and quality of chocolates would easily fool a recipient into thinking it had cost a whole lot more. So this Christmas it’s time to ditch those horrible cheap bog standard boring chocolates and buy a box of these instead. And if anyone is feeling generous then feel free to send me some more too as mine are now all gone!

Back to School – Bureau Direct

Published October 30, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Half term is now over for my lot, and it’s back to school once again. Wow! this year does seem to be flying fast doesn’t it?

With a new school term, comes new school supplies; not usually uniform or big things, but stationery. We had lots of stationery at the beginning of September but it never lasts forever.

Here we have a few bits from Bureau direct . They sell a selection of notebooks, journals, pens amongst other stationery type items.

The larger black book is in fact an “observers notebook”, aimed towards those who have any sort of interest in astronomy (think star gazing etc). It’s not my thing but my teenage son seems to have an interest in space and telescopes and that kind of thing so it’s him who now has this notebook.

Inside are 140 pages with varying layouts along with many astronomy illustrations throughout.

I’m not exactly sure what it is that gets recorded about stats and space, but there is plenty of space in this book to do it. Pair it with a telescope for a very thoughtful gift or just a nice addition for someone more experienced in the hobby.
The  “Whitelines” notepads  are a new product. You write the notes and then scan with an app and save to a device. Clever eh?

the
They seem a  good idea for students and anyone who uses notes in their job. The app is free and the pads come in various sizes.
Finally there isn’t much point having notepads and journals without the pen. The pen you see in the pictures above is a new Japanese brand called Mark Up. In true Japanese style they aim to confuse by adding the French days of the week and French text around the pens. It’s a slim pen designed for fitting inside notebooks, black ink with various pen colours (just to confuse even more). The ink is refillable and they cost £5.95 each.

A rather “royal” street sign

Published October 19, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Take a look at my new sign, proudly hanging on my hallway wall for all to see!

That’s correct – The palace of err… Me!

This very special and rather quirky sign has had many of my guests amused and even wanting one for themselves. Oakdene designs are the people who designed it for me. They can make the signs with any personalisation. Family names, palace of, castle of, cave of, street of, literally anything you can think of. It doesn’t need to be something of either. Basically if it fits then it can go on.

The sign also allows for place marks, cities, towns, postcodes etc, again anything you choose as long as it fits.

They are made of metal, with various options: different colours, sizes, frames, boxes etc, plus an option to add mounting tabs so it can easily be hung on the wall without any screws or any drilling.

They start from £17.50 and will certainly have visitors talking.
