Movie night goodies – Tommy Tucker + Giveaway

Published February 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

As a family we like to do occasional movie nights. This is where we will choose a movie or two to all watch (on a none school night) and bring in a few munchies, pop etc. Not always the healthiest choices but it’s not every night.

Now when this big box arrived packed full of munching goodies; we knew it was time for another family movie night.

The box was sent to us from Tommy Tucker. They sell many movie style snacks including popcorn, potato snacks and even candy floss.

Some of the popcorn, along with the candy floss even comes in movie style resealable plastic tubs, meaning we can just place them on our knees and help ourselves as we wish.

Each tub contains a litre of popcorn. The candy floss looked just like a tub of fluff and Izebella loved it.

These large 120g sharing bags also went down really well.

Jordanna seems to enjoy the salty varieties of popcorn more than the sweet or toffee. With the share bags it’s 142 calories per serving tho I’m not too sure if a serving means the whole bag or not.

My favourite was the new luxury popcorn bags. These are just delicious.

Each bag is 200g of pure indulgent toffee popcorn goodness. Choose from cocoa, salted caramel & vanilla, tropical coconut and raspberry sensation. All of them taste amazing and the bags can be very addictive once opened. It all just tastes so nice and creamy aswell as crunchy.

All Tommy Tucker products can be purchased via the website in multi packs and of course, you may just spot them in your local cinema too.
PRIZE GIVEAWAY

If you liked the look of all those goodies above then enter this giveaway. The winner will also receive a large box of Tommy Tucker goodies; just perfect for a movie night.

Entrants need to be UK based and have valid Facebook, twitter and email accounts. Closing date is February 28th 2017.

Star Wars at Character World + Competition

Published May 4, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Today Character world are going a little crazy with the whole Star Wars theme. Their website showcases some of their popular items from the Star Wars film franchise including bedding, curtains, towels, rugs and more.
Star Wars was never really my thing when I was younger, probably down to the fact I was a girly girl, my brother loved it and longed for one of those expensive millenium falcon toys, tho he would of also been thrilled with a Star Wars bedding set.

I now have my own boy who is fairly interested in Star Wars and he has been sent one of the Star Wars bedding sets and a towel.

Ryan was very quick to point out to me that both of these are from the latest Star Wars movie which I’m told is called “The force awakens”. He finds it hard and strange to believe that Star Wars movies were out when I was younger than him!
The towel measures 75 X 150cm and shows images of storm troopers or at least that’s what they used to be called. In this photograph it looks more like a movie poster than a towel, it’s quite funky and a perfect excuse for my 12 year old to finally get a bath without me moaning at him.

“Yes he certainly likes it”

The bed set consists of a single size duvet cover and one pillow case (Ihave no idea if you can buy double or king size Star Wars covers as I know a few men will be reading this and wondering!). The cover seems good quality material, strong stitching and overall a good set.( I say this because I have had many flimsy duvet covers which the stitching comes apart and creates holes or the material feels to thin and cheaply made).

The duvet cover is also double sided with totally different Star Wars images on either side. The pillow case is the same images all round which seems to match either side.

The cover snuggly fits over Ryan’s standard single duvet quilt and fastens with poppers.Character world sells many other well known character products.

             Competition

Character world are offering one of their Star Wars sets (as above) to one of my readers. The prize consists of both single bed set and a towel with a combined total of £30.

To take part in this prize draw, please click the link below. (T&Cs apply) Ends May 18th 2016!

Hotel Transylvania 2, pancake making and giveaway

Published February 9, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Hotel Transylvania 2 takes place seven years after the first film, with the hotel now open to human guests. Mavis and Johnny have a young son named Dennis, whose lack of any vampire abilities worries his grandfather Dracula. When Mavis and Johnny go on a visit to Johnny’s parents, Dracula calls his friends to help him make Dennis a vampire. Soon, things turn upside-down when Dracula’s old-school human-hating father, Vlad, unexpectedly visits the hotel.

To coincide with the release of the DVD and of course being pancake day today, Sai Pancakes has a video on you tube of their hotel Transylvania pancake creations among many others.

We were also encouraged to join in the pancake celebrations and try to create our own monster creations. I state “Try” because the first four or so turned out horrendous and were remnants of burnt sloppy mess in the pan. I then changed mixture and the rest turned out okay. Pancakes aren’t really my thing but kids seemed to enjoy them. Our monster faces are nothing like the ones in the video but they did try.

COMPETITION

Sony UK are offering a DVD of Transylvania 2 for one of my readers too. This competition will end Feb 16th.

Portable North Pole

Published November 19, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Last Christmas I came across the Portable North Pole service which enables parents to create personalised videos and even phone calls from Santa his self. Last year I used the free version which still enables a free video which can then be shared by email or social media to friends and family. The free video message is again available this year tho not quite ready to access yet.

I was very happy when I was given the chance to have an “Gold Pass” this time round. This gives unlimited access to all the available videos and I can make as many as I wish. It also gives unlimited calls from Santa too.

So I got to work straight away to create a few videos for my girls. Ryan will also get one just so he doesn’t feel left out, but it’s not the same for him as he apparently thinks Santa is not real and has this strange conception that I somehow change into Santa and leave presents. Hmm no idea what makes him think like that!

The videos last about 5 minutes each and there’s a few choices with each being different thus allowing brothers and sisters to get a different video. The videos are personalised to the child and the first thing is to add names. Now when adding the name you are given options as to how it sounds and how it’s pronounced. Izebella was fine but Jordanna was not. Her name was not in the database and could not be pronounced so I had to use Jordan. This will probably apply to other unusual names but you can use other descriptions such as princess or sweetness. The child’s name will appear on screens and santas books in the video even if old Santa can’t quite pronounce it.

The other personalisation options include age, location, photographs, names of family, achievements, day to day life, school, presents wanted and good things they have done. The best bit and th suspense at the end of the video is of course if the child is on the nice or naughty list. If the naughty list then Santa may tell them to try harder.

I access the service via mobile device and the only problem I had was the photograph inclusion. They uploaded fine but I found I had to do a lot of editing as ended up with heads cut off or half a person. Apart from that it’s fine and once all the personalisation is complete it takes about 10 minutes for it all to be made.

The video I made for Izebella can be viewed here and Jordannas is here. As you can see they are really personal and a little magical. It really helps young children get into the Christmas spirit. I would of loved something like this when k was a young child but sadly the technology was non existant back then. Both Izebella and Jordannas faces lit up with their Santa videos and they both kept glued to the screen the whole 5 minutes. The nice or naughty list keeps them in suspense for a while.

As well as Santa, the videos also feature lots of elves and reindeers and plenty of snow. They really make it feel like Christmas.

You can even create a birthday message from Santa which is perhaps a little strange.

You also get to download these little certificates too.

Head to Portable North Pole to create magical videos.

Annie 2015 & Competition

Published April 27, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Annie is released in stores today by Sony Pictures on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

A foster kid, who lives with her mean foster mom, sees her life change when business tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.

We were sent over a copy of the movie on DVD along with an Annie goody bag.

The movie is a modern take on the old 80s Classic. A movie which I loved as a little girl.

COMPETITION

The prize on offer is Annie’s loveable pooch Sandy who comes as a cuddly plush toy. It’s a Twitter competition and all you have to do is Retweet. Ends tomorrow 28/04.

A Mouses Tale + Competition

Published April 24, 2015 by Bizzimummy

May 25th will see the release of “The Mouses Tale” on DVD and Blu-ray. The movie is released by Lionsgate Home Entertainment and stars the vocal talents of Carey Elwes (The Princess Bride), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Tom Arnold, A MOUSE’S TALE is a magical animation little pests will love!

In order to save their kingdom from evil rodents, Samantha and Sebastian are sent on a quest by the King of Rodencia and the wise Wizard Dalliwog to obtain a legendary magic crystal that has the power to defeat the rodents. With the help of two trustworthy knights, they venture deep into the forest and enter a forbidden world of giants in order to accomplish their mission and restore order to the kingdom.

Lionsgate have sent us over a pre release movie disc so we cab have the pleasure of watching the movie before its official release.

It’s suitable for all the family but comes with a PG rating rather than a U. My children have happily sat watching and I didn’t spot any parts which I thought would be unsuitable for a 2 year old, so I would say it’s fine for all. There’s a bit of sword fighting and axe chucking plus a big fire breathing dragon and many chases but all in animation and it certainly kept my kids transfixed for a while. It has an 87 minute running time so nothing too long either.

Here’s a trailer to give you an idea what it’s all about

COMPETITION

The prize on offer is a DVD copy of this brand new animated movie. As the movie is not released until May 25th then it’s likely the winners copy will arrive after this date rather than before.

There will be one winner chosen at random. Winner must reside in the UK and must reply to their winning email within one week. Check my winners page and blog posts for announcements.

This competition will end May 15th.

Non Stop: movie review

Published June 3, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Studio Canal proudly presents Non Stop. A suspense thrilling ride at 40’000 feet.

The movie is due for release on DVD and Blu-Ray from June 23rd. With limited edition Blu-Ray, Steelbrook and Vod from June 30th.

The movie stars Liam Neeson in his typical role as a disgraced ex police officer turned Air Marshall Bill Marks. Marks is an alcoholic and struggling with personal issues of the death of his terminally ill daughter which is discovered later on in the film.
On boarding a transatlantic flight from New York to London. A pretty red haired mysterious passenger named Jen Summers (Julianne Moore) changes seats and ends up sitting next to Marks. My immediate suspicion from the beginning was that Summers may turn out to be a baddie.

20140524-222248-80568576.jpg

20140524-222248-80568627.jpg
Well either her or the very pretty air hostess Nancy (Michelle Dockery) who also plays a main role in this thrilling film. I was wrong on both suspicions tho.

20140524-222427-80667686.jpg

The storyline seems to develop very quickly and audiences will to quickly pick up the storyline. It’s a hijack film with a twist.
Marks begins to receive strange messages on his phone, which is on a secures network between him and the other Marshall. The messages appear on screen for the audience to see and are demands for money or a passenger will be killed every 20 minutes. Marks confronts the other air marshall who denies all involvement, later a scuffle develops and the other air marshall ends up dead exactly 20 minutes after the first threat. It then emerges that the other Marshall was carrying a case full of drugs.
The messages continue and every passenger becomes a suspect. Calls to those on the ground go unheard. The pilot snuffs it too. Marks takes it upon his self to search the passengers becoming rather aggressive as he goes along.
Suspicion among the passengers and ground officials grows. The passengers turn on Marks as it turns out he is being set up. A news bulletin alerts the passengers that Marks is in fact the hijacker and the passengers turn on him.

20140524-223254-81174582.jpg
Calm seems restored once Marks reveals there is a bomb on board which was hidden in the suitcase belonging to the now dead air marshall.
The bomb does go off and the hijackers reveal themselves. The passengers make it off the plane and the day is saved once again by Liam Neeson.

Overall it’s certainly worth a watch. A few twists here and then and a bit of action. It was obvious Liam Neeson would once again become the hero.

There are a few things which let this movie down.
Firstly I don’t want to give too much away but the ending could of been better. I won’t say too much on this for those who are reading but have not watched it.
The relationship between Marks and Summer seemed over developed for two people who did not know each other before. Marks is an Air Marshall, a position which is usually kept secret from other passengers, yet Summers discovers this from the start.
I did not really see a real story or point of the little girl Becca. She was a travelling alone on the plane and only 10 years old or so. Surely this is not allowed on a transatlantic flight. Although I may be wrong.

It gets a 6 out of 10 from me. It certainly keeps you on edge. It is one you need to keep your eyes firmly glued to, and pause if you need to pee. However the ending lets it down a little.
