Beauty treats – Anatomicals

Published May 17, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Today’s treats come from Anatomicals who make bath and body beauty treats and gifts and they even have a small range for children too.

Anatomicals don’t sell their own products from the website but they do have a list of products and stockists on there.

Anatomicals products are recognisable by their distinct bright, colourful packaging which comes in all sorts of vibrant colours. Also their quirky text on every item which stands out so much in stores that it makes you just want to go over and read it.

This yellow tube of stuff is one of those products for children that I mentioned earlier, but of course is big kids can use it too if we want.

Banana bath and shower gel, which can also be used on hair, just like a kids shampoo. It has lots of banana aroma and my girls love it.

For us grown ups. We have huge bath bars. And when I say huge I don’t just mean slightly large. I mean this.

(And just look at these colours too!)

Lovely grapefruit fragrance and in pink which happens to be my favourite colour. This huge soap bar will last me a long long time.

And when my face needs refreshing or my make up is a mess and needs wiping off, Anatomicals even has cleansing pads just right for the job.

I have no idea how many pads are in the pot and I’m not going to count them either but there’s a good few of them to keep me going for a while. Excellent for removing make up and also act as a daily cleanser. The glycolic acid in them is an exfoliator and helps remove any dead skin cells thus prepping the skin for tanning or enabling fresh make up to stay on for longer.

Lovely products in lovely colourful packaging.

Beauty treats – Delicate owl

Published May 16, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Today’s beauty treats come from Delicate Owl.

Delicate owl have some very lovely handmade bath and body pamper products which all come made with only natural ingredients. Their products don’t just smell good; they also look great in any bathroom and being natural, are kind to any skin.

Here are just a few products that I have had the pleasure of using recently.

What girl wouldn’t want these in her bathroom?

The big pink pot in the middle is a salt scrub with a country rose fragrance. This stuff is just lovely and contains Rose geranium oils amongst a few other essential oils. It looks and smells delicious, almost good enough to eat, and I absolutely love the cute little wooden bath spoon that came with it.

The salts are really fine and the best way to use is to scoop a small amount out and rub all over the body. As well as washing and cleansing this is also great as an exfoliater prior to fake tanning (exfoliating reduces patches). I have also found that pouring a small amount of salts into hot running water helps release the rose atoms and gives a very relaxing aromatherapy type bath. Just don’t fall asleep!

Bare in mind, a little goes a long way, The aroma can be strong if too much is used as the salts contain a lot of essential oil.

These salt scrubs also come lavender and orange marmalade 250g tubs costing £10.50 each.
I love my soap slices too. I love the different scents and how they look so different to the regular supermarket soaps, even in simple shapes. Delicate Owl soap slices cost just £4.50 each for an 80g bar.

The country rose soap is the prefect addition to the soap scrub. I know your all reading and just dying to see what the oatmeal soap looks like unwrapped, so here it is.

This is a hard clear soap and the bits of oatmeal can be clearly seen inside. Again this is a great product for exfoliating and getting rid of those dead skin patches.

And if soap isn’t your thing for hand washing and hand care then maybe natural hand wash is.

These are the smaller trial bottles of the hand wash and lotion gift set for £25.00. Both the handwash and the hand lotion are also available to buy in full size single 300ml bottles for £12.50 each. All with the choice of fragrance. The lotion is lovely on dry or sweaty hands and the hand wash is great when they need a refreshing scrub.

And finally………….. The bath bomb! I do love bath bombs, I can’t get enough of them as I always use them so quickly.

Heart shaped and gift boxed and again a few scents to choose from. This one is lavender and even contains actual bits of lavender. Lavender equals a very relaxing bath, perfect just before bedtime. Each bath bomb is just £4.00.

Amazing bath and body pamper products at amazing affordable prices.

Beauty treats for me: SBC

Published April 4, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I love receiving treats and gifts for myself and especially anything beauty or pamper related. It makes a nice change writing about things I enjoy using rather than just my children.

Today’s beauty treats come from SBC which are the initials for – Simply Beautiful Collection.

A browse of their website will reveal many pamper type products for the skin, face, body and bathing products. SBC products aim to be practical, effective and affordable. For the past 3 weeks or so I have been trying out four SBC products of my choosing.

For bathing, I chose the Arnica muscle soak.  A few drops of this in running hot water helps me to have a nice relaxing stress relief bath. The Arnica flower properties can help to relieve body and muscle  aches after  sports or hard work. It can also be added to a foot spa to relieve tired aching feet. I do have a foot spa but am yet to test this product with it. A 250ml bottle costs £15, smaller and bigger sizes are available. Only a few drops of this is needed per bath so this size bottle will last a long time.

Also for bathing/pampering I have a lovely Superfruits body scrub. This looks and smells like a creamy yoghurt and is made with cranberry and raspberry fruit extracts.  It’s also enriched with pomegranate seeds to buff away skin impurities and exfoliate as it cleans. It’s really nice, smells good and great for my pre self tanning too. It also contains lots of good stuff – high levels of minerals, anti oxidants and vitamins. A 450ml jar which is fairly large coats £25.00.

I also chose two skin care products, both of which contain collagen and thus help with the whole anti-aging process.

Collagen hydra gel serum costs £35 for 30ml and is a facial serum that moisturises, smooths and minimises the appearance of fine lines. It feels very cool on and dries quickly. I use this once a day and have been for about 3 weeks along with the other product – Collagen day and night cream. The day and night cream starts at £29.00. Again this helps to reduce aging facial lines as well as moisturising and hydrating the skin. It seems to be a much richer and thicker overall product than the serum, a little like a white soufflé.

None of these products are greasy and yes they do help to make the skin smoother and softer and I’m sure I have noticed less lines. However these are probably the type of products which have to be used for longer periods to see more beneficial effects.
I would buy these products again, probably not altogether but I would certainly recommend them all for gifts or just a pamper treat for yourself. My favourite overall product from the four is the collagen day and night cream.

Perfect pamper gifts

Published February 21, 2017 by Bizzimummy

With Valentine’s Day over for another year, it’s perhaps time to think about Mother’s Day once again which is on its way in just a few weeks.

Us Mothers need a bit of pampering every now and then and the majority of us ladies just love to receive pamper/bathing type gifts for any occasion.

Now most ladies get fed up of the same bog standard supermarket gift sets that can be purchased anywhere and we like things a little different and special. This is where Perfect pamper gifts comes in very handy.

Perfect Pamper gifts create unique gift sets and pamper hampers containing luxury fragrant products.

My own hamper arrived in a lovely little bow tied Jute bag, like this.

And yes you can even choose the bag colour.

Before opening the bag, I knew it was going to be good inside because I could smell the lovely fragrant aromas inside. And inside – all these lovely pamper Goodies.

The aromas are delicious and smelt so good, they made me hungry.

I absolutely love all of the products inside. Just take a look at this Pomegranate & Vitamin E face mask!

It looks and feels like a fruity whipped cream and feels lovely on my face.

The Whole lot of love bath bomb is huge and I can’t wait to drop into my bath. The centre rose part is made of soap petals which get pulled off and scattered in the bath before fizzing the bath bomb.

Then Sweet cherry body wash – the scent reminds me of my favourite yoghurt flavour and that’s black cherry. It contains cherry kernel oils and smells very sweet.

Seville orange lip balm really helps my dry lips which I seem to get whenever I have a cold (which I do now!)

And finally, for an added bit of bathing luxury – Wild rose scented candle.

There are many pamper hampers to choose from, be it for mum, sister, daughter, friend etc. You can also Build your own hamper by choosing specific products and Perfect Pamper gifts even offer a Monthly subscription pamper box which I am considering signing up to. Monthly pamper treats sound amazing.

The pamper hampers make wonderful gifts for us ladies and are a great idea for a Mother’s Day gift. The gifts hamper bundles such as the one I have start at £14.99 and include choice of bag, gift tag and personalised message. Each bag contains at least 4 pamper items depending on which one is chosen.

There are many to choose from at Perfect pamper gifts.

Bath & Unwind

Published August 16, 2016 by Bizzimummy

So I’m half way through the school Summer hols and yes it’s getting stressful, kids running out of things to do, wanting money, wanting sleepovers, money being tight, house a mess and all the rest of it; whilst also trying to fit blog posts in when I can. Therefore it’s always nice when I’m sent goodies for myself and just myself to try out and especially so when it happens to be any sort of beauty or pamper products.

I had not heard of Bath and Unwind before prior to them contacting me. They sell many beauty and pamper type products from many different brands. I have had a browse of their website and many products do seem to be cheaper than on other sites and places. It is well worth a look to find some beauty bargains.

Bath & Unwind offered to send me out a selection of their products. The three products I was sent all do different things. There is something for the skin, hair and even sleep; perfect for bathing and then unwinding.

Moroccanoil dry shampoo

I have tried a few dry shampoo products before but this is by far the best one so far. Firstly the scent is so much better, there is none of that hairspray scent with this one. Secondly there are two shades to choose from based on hair tone and of course being Moroccanoil; means it contains Argan oil. Any woman who cares about her locks will be familiar with Argan oil. It even contains UV protection to shield hair from the sun. Spray on tangled hair to detangle and leave smoother or give life to dull hair. It does leave a whitish/silver shimmer when first applied but this quickly fades once brushed.

It is £14.85 a can but I have not seen this product in shops or anywhere else and it really does wonders for my coloured hair.

Badger balm
Fear not, no badgers were harmed, or even used (as far as I’m aware!) making this product.

This could be classed as a natural sleep remedy. It’s a balm which can be applied to temples, cheeks, neck or face just before bed. It contains lots of lovely lavender to help you drift off into the land of nod. It is 100% natural too. Lavender is of course a well known sleep aid and relaxant so it does help a little if you can’t sleep.

It’s a little greasy at first but blends in, you don’t need to apply much and it smells lovely. It looks a little like wax and is really firm so I did have to press quite hard to get some out. This costs just £4.99 and it’s one of those products that will last a long time.

Steamcream

Steamcream is handmade in the UK and arrives in a choice of time. This beautiful floral tin is one of the limited edition tins. The cream inside is a multi-use moisturiser and is the perfect all rounder.

Steamcream has a lighweight texture that is infused with jojoba, almond oil and cocoa butter, it instantly softens and smoothes the skin on the face, hands, body and feet making it also great for travel.
The cream gives an instant cooling effect to my skin when applied and easily dries. It has a rather distinct scent and I can’t quite work out what it reminds me of. It is a product I like using. I can’t comment on the long term effects of using steam cream because I have not been using it that long and products like this take time to give any real results.

I will say that opening the tin was an absolute nightmare unfortunately. There is nothing to grip to pull it open and no space between the lid and tin to wedge much in. I was beginning to think it was faulty and somehow fused together permanently. In the end I had to use a really sharp knife to wedge it apart which then bent the tin a bit but at least it’s open now. I do think the tins need to made easier to get in as I am sure I won’t the only one who has problems opening one.

Steamcream tins start from £12.95.
I am enjoying all my products from Bath and Unwind.

Buff & Butter essential oils

Published April 27, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Essential oils have been around for thousands of years and if you have no idea what they are, then here is a brief description.

“An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the oil of the plant from which they were extracted, such as oil of clove. An oil is “essential” in the sense that it contains the “essence of” the plant’s fragrance—the characteristic fragrance of the plant from where it comes from”

Essential oils can be found in hundreds of fragrances, many of them can be rare or hard to find. Each one brings its own uses and benefits. Many beauty products that we use contain one or more essential oils and home made products are made using the oils. The majority of the oils come with health and medicinal benefits, these benefits differ per oil and include relaxation, stress and depression relief and even soothing properties for aches and pains. And of course they smell great to simply add to a bath too or burn with an oil burner.

Essential oils can be purchased at many places and one of those places who specialise in the oils is Buff & Butter. They have a vast selection of oils, with the majority costing just a few pound per bottle.

I was able to choose 5 of Buff & Butters essential oils. These are all 10ml bottles. Larger bottle options are available too.

The 10ml bottles seem small but only a few drops of oil is ever required at once (too much can be dangerous) so they last ages.

Bergamont FCF helps with anxiety and depression which I suffer from. It’s often found in soaps and bathing products. Sweet, fruity, almost citrus smell which is quite pleasant.
Black Pepper – At the time of choosing this, I was experiencing bad backache which is very unusual for me. The heating effect of the black pepper oil makes it perfect for relief of aches and spasms. The scent is unusual, tho definitely hints of pepper. And after just 2 days of bathing with this oil my back ache was gone. I’m not saying it’s a miracle cure but it certainly must of helped.
Eucalyptus – This has to be my favourite scent overall, think Vicks vapour rub when you have a cold. It’s string fragrance is distinct and helps to ease congestion.
Frankincense – Yes it’s not just Jesus or churches who use this oil. It helps to clear the mind and AIDS relaxation and yes it definitely does what it says. The aroma is strong and rather strange. It’s probably best to use minimal amount of this as it can be a bit over powering.
Rose Geranium – Geranium oil is often compared to the rose essential oil because they share almost the same therapeutic traits. In fact, geranium is considered the “poor man’s rose” and its oil is often the alternative to the more expensive rose oil. Rose geranium has many benefits and uses including both pain and depression. It’s also found in food products, perfumes and beauty products, tho I can only think that the more high prices rose products contain rose oil rather than geranium. It has a lovely sweet scent of roses and actually reminds me of my childhood days attempting to make rose perfume with rose petals.

All of the above oils which I have can be used in a bath. No more than 5 drops at a time and if using more than one oil at a time then it is 5 drops between the amount of bottles. The oils can cause allergic reactions just like the products they are used in, using too much can also cause various problems as they are very strong and pure. It is best to do some research on them before using if unsure.

Vosene kids, new products

Published April 20, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Vosene Kids  is expanding its product range with the launch of some new and rather fruity hair care products.

These products are not in the shops just yet, so it’s a bit of a special privelage to test them out before anyone else.

There is the Caring Coconut & Mango Hair and Body Wash which is just burstibg with exotic paradise essence, perfect for helping parents to gently nourish their kiddies’ delicate skin. In addition, the Fruity Goodness range welcomes two new products, Pink Pomelo & Vitamin C 2 in 1 Shampoo and Pink Pomelo & Vitamin C Hair & Body Wash bursting with citrus zest and a spritz of Vitamin C, helping to keep your little ones’ hair fresh and energised.

If you don’t know what a pink pomelo is, which my kids did not; then it’s a fruit similar to a grapefruit and the scents from these products are similar to a grapefruit scent too which is just lovely.

Being fruity I would say that the products are probably aimed more towards girls and perhaps the younger boys. Ryan is more into his “real men” products and fragrances now (almost a teenager). My two girls are always so happy with new bath products and loved the new Vosene range. The scents are great. We found the 2 in 1 shampoo really works as a double product this time (unlike others) it has more of a look a texture that a conditioner does and so reduces the need for additional or extra conditioning even on long or thicker hair.

The hair and body washes seem good for children with shorter or finer hair (young boys included) and saves the need for an additional shampoo bottle.

I am sure these new products will be in stores very soon and you can always visit the Vosene kids website for more product ranges.

My Pure #April – Naturtint & Evolve

Published April 5, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Once again I have been testing out products from My Pure. These two products are both very different this time around. One of them being hair dye and the other a luxurious body polish scrub.

Naturtint Permanent hair colour

My roots have been in need of a retouch for a good few weeks and my overall hair colour needed brightening up too. Naturtint hair colour is free from the nasty chemicals which are normally found in hair dyes, including ammonia. There are 32 shades to choose from, each containing natural vegetable ingredients and claim to be kinder to hair than other chemical based dyes.

I chose the Dawn Blonde shade. It is probably the lightest blonde to choose and the sort of shade I wanted. My roots are quite dark and with this being chemical free I was unsure if it would lighten enough.

In the box are the two colourant bottles which need to be mixed, gloves, instructions plus shampoo, conditioner and CC Cream.

As with most hair dye it’s best to do a strand test if your not used to dying your hair, tho I have to admit I never do the test. 20 years of dying my hair and not a single bad reaction or wrong colour so far.

Just like most other hair dyes I had to mix the bottle contents together, shake and then ready to go.

This is my hair and roots prior to using Naturtint.

As you can see, my roots are dark!

I applied to the roots first, left for 20 minutes and applied to rest of my hair. With the Naturtint I experienced no nasty chemical smells, there was some itching throughout but no where near as intense as chemical dyes. I left it on for a total of 40 minutes. Then bathed and washed it off using the included shampoo and conditioner.

And here is the result!

It’s a lot lighter, both hair and roots. I’m really impressed that the roots have gone blonde without ammonia or other chemicals which is not usually possible.

The included CC cream can be applied after towel drying and helps with conditioning and breakage of hair as well as aging.

Since applying the Naturtint I have found my hair in better condition than I would using a shop bought chemical dye, certainly less breakage and better condition.

It is something I would recommend as an alternative to regular chemical dyes and costs £10.49 which is not much more than shop bought dye.

Evolve: Tropical Blossom body polish

This may not be up everyone’s street and especially not at £20.00 a tub, but I like it.

To look at it from the outside it resembles something from a chemist, a plain white label and dark tub of hidden contents. Whilst inside is like another world entirely.

It’s like a mini pot of gold. This oil based body polish contains fine particles of organic sugar to buff skin to smooth perfection and natural Tahitian coconut Monoi macerated in exotic Tahitian blossoms of Gardenia.

It’s grainy like any other body polish, the grains help with exfoliation to remove dead skin particles so it’s good to use before applying fake tan too.

It’s a strange, but good sort of scent, fruity elements with something else. It’s very thick and lucious and melts away in water too so there is no mess left in the bath.

It is a nice product but I do think it is quite expensive being £20.00 for a 180 ml pot. Certainly not something I will be leaving in reach of any of my children.

Once again, some lovely products with natural ingredients from My Pure.

The Little Bathtime Company

Published February 1, 2016 by Bizzimummy

The Little Bathtime company are based in Ulverston and create many lovely toiletries for children. The toiletries are formulated for young skin and contain only natural and organic ingredients and free from harsh chemicals.

Here is a selection of their toiletries which my children have been testing out.

There is a bubble bath, hair and body wash and a shampoo & conditioner in one. The bottles as you can see will really appeal to young children being bright and decorated with images of animals, dinosaurs and fairies. The lids are the type you press down and the liquid comes out.

The bubble bath gave lots of lovely foamy bubbles using just a tiny amount.

The hair and body wash makes a great double product and would be especially good for boys or girls with shorter hair who perhaps don’t yet need the extra conditioning. It also produces even more bubbles in the bath.

The shampoo & conditioner works well to eliminate the majority of tangles. I found it worked better on Izebellas hair which is slightly curly and more finer than on Jordannas hair which is very curly and thick and I still need to use the extra conditioner as her hair here very knotty.

The products come in 3 scents/varieties hence the different colour bottles. The pink is cherry berry, blue is Sweet and Tangy orange and green is green apple. We received one from each of the scents and they all smell pretty good. The bottles do seem to be aimed more towards younger children but Ryan being 11 had no problems or worries in also using the products and especially liked the hair and body wash.

The products cost £4.95 per bottle each or gift packs can also be purchased for £10.00.

My Pure #2 (Dead Sea and Inika foundation)

Published December 11, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Last week I received my second package of products from My Pure. Each month I am given my own choice of products to test out and this is what I chose this time round.
Dead Sea bath salts
I have seen similar looking packages of bath salts about in high end stores and have been temped to try them for a while. I use a lot of “Dead Sea” products, tho mainly facial masks and body scrubs. These bath salts come in 2 bag sizes starting at 500g for £5.15.

Sea salt contains more calcium and magnesium which have a calming effect on the skin and retain natural moisture barriers. They are meant to be very effective for those with certain skin conditions too. My oldest daughter Jordanna seems prone to spots and dry skin so I have been putting a small handful in her baths as well as my own.

The bath salts have no scent and they don’t make the bath bubbly or creamy, it’s more for the effect on the skin rather than a pamper product but certainly not expensive.

Inika liquid foundation

I do love getting new foundations and other bits of make up. This one is on the pricey side of £29.50 and for this price I would expect it to be long lasting and a good shade, also easy application. It certainly manages to tick all the boxes for me.

The shade I chose is honey and oug of 4 shades it’s the 2nd darkest but still a good natural skin tone colour.

There is an Inika foundation primer to match this, I don’t have it but I do find if I use any primer underneath this then the colour tends to stay on most of the day. Application is easy, it glides on evenly and smoothly with no hard rubbing and I should add I always use fingers to apply too.

The foundation is packed full of organic antioxidants which I really have no clue what that is, just that they are good and beneficial for the skin. Prior to using this particular product I was finding odd spots on my face and since using it, they have gone and no more have appeared.

Despite the price it is a great foundation and seems to give a gear flawless look.
