Bedding for a princess

Published August 7, 2017 by Bizzimummy

As Izebella very recently went into a bigger bed, and both the girls have a brand new set of bunk beds in their room, it was time to jazz up the bottom bunk with a brand new duvet set from Ollie and Leila.

Ollie and Leila also sell some fab children’s beds with storage which are just perfect for even the smallest bedroom.

This is the Nordic pink duvet set which Izebella now proudly has on her big girl bed.

It’s pink and white and full of forest animals such as hedgehogs, rabbits and deers.

It’s a standard single size with one pillow case. On the opposite side of the duvet is a pink with grey geometric print so Izebella can choose either side to have.

It’s lovely cute and girly and pretty unique and costs £32 to buy direct from their website.

New bedding from Sleepy people

Published May 10, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Now the weather is finally warming up a bit, it’s always nice to change the duvets and invest in a more lighter/summer option.

I am unfortunate to suffer from what appears to be seasonal allergies, I get the awful tickly throat which leads to watery eyes and coughing. It tends to occur in the evenings and through the night a lot too. Both pollen, dust and other unknown causes are triggers.

Sleepy people is a British online bedding retailer with a full range of products that includes a selection of anti-allergy items. They have sent me over one of their Silent night anti allergy bed sets. This consists of a 7.5 tog anti allergy duvet, and 2 anti allergy pillows. My set is king size and other bed sizes are available.

If the tog rating confuses you as it did me then Sleepy people do have a tog forecaster widget creator which gives you an idea of the best tog number per season. I also found this helpful image.
Therefore for the British spring weather a 7.5 tog is ideal.

I love the feel of fresh bedding and especially a brand new duvet and pillows. My new duvet felt so much lighter and more airy than the previous one which I think had been on my bed for a whole year.

Once in bed, the duvet seemed to provide just the right amount of warmth needed. I didn’t feel like I needed any more layers and didn’t feel overly hot so that I had to kick it off, it was just right. My old duvet would feel heavy on me and heavy when making the bed in the morning but my new one is so much lighter whilst still being warm.

As for the pillows, wow! Such a good nights comfy sleep. Lovely, soft, deep and big. My head just sunk into them.

Izebella usually sleeps in my bed once a week and also found them very comfy compared to the previous ones.

I did find that I was sneezing less through the night since changing the bedding, the tickly throat is coming much less at night time so I can only think that maybe something in my old duvet and pillows was adding to the problem.

Now I can get a very comfy long nights sleep thanks to Sleepy People.

The 7.5 tog bedding sets start from £21.99. Both the duvet and pillows can also be purchased separately.

Star Wars at Character World + Competition

Published May 4, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Today Character world are going a little crazy with the whole Star Wars theme. Their website showcases some of their popular items from the Star Wars film franchise including bedding, curtains, towels, rugs and more.
Star Wars was never really my thing when I was younger, probably down to the fact I was a girly girl, my brother loved it and longed for one of those expensive millenium falcon toys, tho he would of also been thrilled with a Star Wars bedding set.

I now have my own boy who is fairly interested in Star Wars and he has been sent one of the Star Wars bedding sets and a towel.

Ryan was very quick to point out to me that both of these are from the latest Star Wars movie which I’m told is called “The force awakens”. He finds it hard and strange to believe that Star Wars movies were out when I was younger than him!
The towel measures 75 X 150cm and shows images of storm troopers or at least that’s what they used to be called. In this photograph it looks more like a movie poster than a towel, it’s quite funky and a perfect excuse for my 12 year old to finally get a bath without me moaning at him.

“Yes he certainly likes it”

The bed set consists of a single size duvet cover and one pillow case (Ihave no idea if you can buy double or king size Star Wars covers as I know a few men will be reading this and wondering!). The cover seems good quality material, strong stitching and overall a good set.( I say this because I have had many flimsy duvet covers which the stitching comes apart and creates holes or the material feels to thin and cheaply made).

The duvet cover is also double sided with totally different Star Wars images on either side. The pillow case is the same images all round which seems to match either side.

The cover snuggly fits over Ryan’s standard single duvet quilt and fastens with poppers.Character world sells many other well known character products.

Character World Bedding

Published October 2, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Don’t you just love the feel of brand new bedding? Well Izebella has been rather spoilt recently with a brand new bedding set from Character World UK. And not just any plain old bedding set either but one featuring the characters of a kids tv show which she loves to watch and that is “Paw Patrol”

Character world  have all the favourite characters available in a selection of kids bedding, cushions, towels, curtains, rugs and beanbags. There are all the modern day heroes such as Frozen, Hello Kitty and SpongeBob plus old classic favourites such as Micky mouse, avengers and Marvel comic heroes. A great place to look if you want a full character theme bedroom.

Izebella was very happy with her new Paw patrol bedding set and her huge cushion. It all arrived in a lovely carry bag too.

She was very excited and instructed that I put it onto her bed immediately.

The sets come in both single bed and junior bed sizes. Izebella has a junior bed but I use a full size single duvet on it as they seem to be warmer and cheaper than the smaller ones. Luckily we got the single bed size which comes with the matching pillowcase too. It’s very bold and good quality, seems strong and not the thin type which easily gets holes in. The big pillow was an extra bonus. She puts her teddies on this.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen her want to get in bed so quickly.

Bambino Merino Toddler Sleeping Bag

Published October 9, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Izebella has been testing out her big new sleeping bag from Bambino Merino.

The sleeping bags are designed for curious tots ages 2-4 years. They come in a choice of 5 colours and made from all natural fibres featuring a soft 100% merino lining and a striped cotton outer.
I chose the Petal design and it arrived it’s it own matching carry bag. Great for storing the sleeping bag and taking away.

IMG_9810.JPG

This is the first photograph of the sleeping bag prior to using it.

IMG_9811.JPG
As you can see I had to fold the sleeping bag up to get a photograph. It is very generously sized at a whopping 116cm.

My first thoughts on the sleeping bag were that is was very big but at the same time quite light compared to some of the bulkier one out there.
There is one long zip which zips all the way up. No poppers to pull apart, the arm bit simply slips over.

IMG_9812.JPG

I was a little sceptical about how Izebella would be using a sleeping bag. When she was younger (now 2) I tried various types of baby sleeping bags and she hated them all. She seems to like her feet being free. However it seems my worries were for nothing because it’s the total opposite.

IMG_9815.JPG

She loves her new sleeping bag. Not just for bed time either. She will happily sit in her sleeping bag both mornings and evenings and sometimes even asks for it during the day. It has in many ways turned into a comfort blanket type thing for her, it’s actually quite difficult to part her from it.

IMG_9816.JPG

You should beable to see from the photographs just how much room Izebella has to move her feet about inside it. It’s very easy to slip on and does not restrict her movement. If she did want it off (unlikely) she would tell me but she loves the thing.

It certainly keeps her lovely and warm which is just what we need with the guaranteed approaching cold weather. The sleeping bag is designed to be worn in all seasons and there are guides on the bag tag advising of suitable clothing layers per season. It is suitable for room temperatures 17-30 C. No extra blankets are needed when sleeping in this unless of course the room temperature was especially cold. It Creates a microclimate around your child to keep him/her warm and comfortable throughout the night without the risk of overheating.

IMG_9818.JPG

Izebella seems to have fallen in love with her cozy sleeping bag. As she likes having it on a lot it does mean it will get messy. The washing guidelines recommend washing at 30C and no higher. It is made of Merino wool so care needs to be taken to avoid any damage. It then can be dried on a rack on bannister not tumble dried.

IMG_9829.JPG

Also when Izebella is not in the bag I can air it out over her cot to reduce the need for washing.

These Merino sleeping bags cost £69.95 each or buy 2 for £125.
Now I know this seems a lot of money to pay for what is essentially one item of bedding. It does last for 2 years, possibly a lot longer depending on size of child and it can be used all year round without the need for extra blankets. My little princess loves her and previously hated sleeping bags. She asks for it at random times of the day. I would recommend this toddler sleeping bags for all mums with 2 year olds. It’s especially ideal as Izebella can put it on downstairs before bed and I can carry her up in it. Then bring her down in mornings and she will stay warm and snug.

Slumberdown Kids Quilted Waterproof Mattress Protector

Published November 19, 2013 by Bizzimummy

Jordanna has been dry at nights for a while but still has the odd tiny accident every now and again. Izebella is just one and still in nappies but it won’t be long until she has to start potty training and wet beds and nights soon follow it.
I was asked if I’d like to test out the new Kids Mattress Protector from Slumberdown .

20131114-170150.jpg
Slumberdown specialise in high quality pillows, duvets and mattress protectors and have been around since 1970.
The mattress protector is lovely, soft and quilted and therefore very different to those awful plastic sheets that can be used. It’s a single bed size and seems to fit on very easily and almost hugs to the mattress. It has an almost hidden waterproof layer inside and you only really realise it’s their if you feel the product before placing it on a bed. This waterproof later will protect the mattress from accidents both of the toilet nature and any spills from drinks too. It can be machine washed at 40 degrees.

20131114-170828.jpg
Aswell as providing mattress protection from accidents. It also makes Jordannas mattress more comfortable for sleeping. She has a basic mattress which came with her bed and although it’s perfectly fine they aren’t the best. This mattress tipper helps to provide an extra layer of comfort with its soft quilted design and Jordanna sleeps soundly when it’s on.

20131114-171131.jpg
I will be investing in another one for Izebella when she gets a little older too. They can be purchased from Tesco for just £10.50 and I have also seen them on Amazon too.
