Outdoor toys that don’t cost the Earth

Published July 13, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Everyone wants to be outside playing in this unusual British Summer weather. The Entertainer store has some great outdoor toys to suit all budgets. From sandpits and pools to simple accessories such as bucket and spades. I find the Entertainer the best value store when it comes to buying good quality toys for my children.

They have been testing out two outdoor toys from The Entertainer which is also known The toy shop at their online store.

Now Summer just would not be as fun without one of these bad boys.

It’s the Storm hurricane warrior blaster and the good news is that it only costs £10.00. It holds a massive 2L of water so if your child has one and you don’t want a soaking then it’s best you stay well clear because this can fire all that water up to 10 meters.

It’s easy to use via a pump action trigger and easy to fill and empty via a lift up cap. Simply fill and fire and that’s it. Having a long range and holding lots of water also means my windows can get a good cleaning whilst I’m safety indoors dry and watching. This thing will get anyone within its range soaked.

We did have a slight problem with the fill cap being loose and coming off, therefore water leaks. I’m not too sure if this is just a fault on our product or how the are all made. I found putting a small plastic bag over the water fill hole and putting the cap on top sorted the leak/loose problem.

Our other product can still get us slightly wet if not careful but is much less gentle.

It’s a double bubble machine. With this  comes 125ml bubble solution. The machine requires batteries and the bubble solution gets tipped into the machine, a small amount at a time. Once set up it’s just a simple button press and the bubbles come out.

No tireless bubble blowing required as this machine does it for us. The bubble creator inside rotates and hundreds of lovely bubbles fly out. Izebella loves her bubbles. Here is a video clip of the machine in action.

Little children in particular will have lots of fun with this. Once the bubble solution runs out, any bought bubble solution is fine to use. The bubble machine seems very reasonably priced at just £7.50.

Both of these products and more are available to purchase from The Entertainer stores across the U.K. and also online.

Bath time with Childs Farm

Published March 2, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Award winning British brand Childs Farm was the brain child of mother of two, Joanna Jensen.

Having struggled to find baby & child toiletry products to deal with her daughters’ fine hair and sensitive skin, Joanna joined forces with respected UK manufacturer Medichem to make her own.

Her criteria has always been for as many naturally derived ingredients as possible that can do the jobs of cleaning and detangling effectively, for organic essential oils that are suitable for young skin and hair, and packaging that reflects everything that Joanna holds most dear – her children, pets and animals and of course, the great British country-side all thrown together in quirky and madcap situations by children’s illustrator, Emma McCall.

Through clinical trials, the products have proven to be suitable for even the most sensitive skin including skin prone to eczema, and are even mild enough for newborns. Every product has been dermatologically tested and approved, and paediatrician approved.

Ryan is slowly moving on to more adult men’s toiletries as he is now 10 and thinks he is all grown up. Jordanna and Izebella absolutely love being pampered like little princesses and are always very enthusiastic to try out new bathing products. With Jordanna I do have to be careful of what I use. She had not been diagnosed with any form of eczema as such but is prone to dry itchy skin and odd spots and rashes which can be made worse after bathing.

My girls were sent over some Childs Farm products. There is a wide varying selection in the online shop all sorts of bathing, lotions and hair products to choose from at fairly low cost.

This is the Top to Tosie Cleaning Kit. Inside the reusable pouch are 3 bottles of Childs farm award winning products.

Hair & body wash for dirty rascals

Hand & body lotion for silky skin

Bubble bath for sweet dreams.

Each one with delicious zingy/zesty fragrances of citrus fruits making little ones smell very fruity and almost good enough to eat.

I thought the designs on the product bottles were really lovely too, unlike many others these are covered in all sorts of designs. The illustrations are designed by children’s illustrator Emma McCall. They include things which company owner holds dear including her children, animals and the countryside.

Izebella seemed very eager to use her new products straight away and she was in need of a good bath with food and all sorts from nursery all over her.

The warm bath was filled with the sweet dreams bubble bath. It’s comes out rather quick so it’s best not to tip the bottle too much. The bubbles form very quickly and the bath turned into a bubbling spa. Next went on the hair and body wash (for my dirty rascal) this made Izebella smell so nice and it’s really good that we don’t need two separate products.

She kept saying “that smells nice mummy” and it does. It’s a scent grapefruit and oranges and the aroma fills the bathroom.

As well as the Top to Tosie kit we were also sent a bottle of conditioner in a strawberry and organic mint fragrance. Just perfect for the luscious locks of little princesses and the bottle is in a pretty pink colour too.

After shampooing it was time to apply the new conditioner, which left the long princes locks feeling soft, silky, smooth and tangle free. Both the conditioner and the hair & body wash are also tear free meaning no nasty stinging sore eyes and far less bath time tears and fears.

The final product to use was our hand & body lotion from the Top to Tosie kit. Once bath time was over and little Izebella dry, it was time to apply. I found this had the strongest aroma out of all the products. Izebella really liked having it applied even tho she did insist on doing it herself.

It dried pretty quickly, absorbed into the skin fast and left her smelling like a lovely grapefruit, all sweet and nice. She loves it.

I don’t think I have ever seen a 2 year old so happy with bathing products. She was even pointing out the pictures on the bottles and had no hesitation in taking them straight to the bathroom when they arrived.

The Top to Tosie kit costs £8.99 and is perfect for travelling as well as home use and the conditioner is £3.99. Both products along with others can be purchased directly from Childs Farm

Good Bubble

About Good Bubble

Good Bubble make natural and fun bath stuff to get you squeaky clean and open you and your family up to some new discoveries too. From the superfruits that take pride of place in their bottles, to their journey from far away lands and the way it’s all put together at a family business in the heart of England. They bring you gorgeous, gentle formulations that truly nourish your hair and skin. Rich in nutrients, free from harsh chemicals and kind to the planet. Made with only the best intentions. No tears. No nasties.

I was really happy to be sent over some Good Bubble products got my children to try out. We all enjoy trying out new bath products and toiletries and were getting a little tired of the same brands found in shops. My children have 3 of the Good Bubble products.

Super bubbly Bubble bath, Smooth Softly Conditioner and Clean as a bear shampoo.

The good bubble products come in two super fruit variants, both of which smell fantastic and gave my bathroom a lovely aroma. There is dragon fruit and cloudberry. Dragon fruit is something I enjoy eating when I can get one but I have never heard of a cloudberry and actual even googled it to see if it was a real fruit. It is, it looks a little like a raspberry so I may just have to look out for it next time I shop for fruit.

The bubble bath gave lots of lovely bubbles. I only had to use a very small amount and the bath was filled with bubbly goodness. Ryan is too old for bubble baths now and prefers showers but Jordanna and Izebella love their bubble baths and also both enjoy sharing a bath together. (More fun and more mess!).

The shampoo had a delicious smell and was very foamy on thr hair. It is also gentle on the eyes, being pretty much tear free. No eye sting and no frustration. The products are all formulated with little ones in mind.

Just look at her crazy bath hair!

I was very happy to see a stand alone conditioner product for children. I do find that kids conditioners can be hard to come by and it's usually a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner product which is just no good for long curly hair. Again this conditioner smelt great. It seem to be a good conditioning product too which left my girls hair soft and manageable afterwards.

All Good Bubble products are Vegan society registered making them suitable for almost anyone. They contain special moisturising properties to nourish young hair and skin.

The products can be purchased directly from the Good Bubble Shop and start from £3.69 per product.

Elle Macpherson Foot Spa

Published March 18, 2014 by Bizzimummy

I was so happy when I heard I would be reviewing this product. After school runs, work, housework and school clubs my feet aswell as the rest of my body can start to ache a little. I have never owned a foot spa before and sometimes my feet get neglected. Therefore it was about time they got some much needed pampering and all within the comfort of my own home. No travelling or paying for salons.

The Elle Macpherson foot spa from Homedics helps aid relaxation after a busy day. It soothes and relaxes muscles at reflexology points and has the additional benefit of a pedicure.

Key features include
Key features include:

– Twice as many bubbles delivered through 4 bubble strips
• Two inter-changeable pedicure attachments
• Four integrated massage rollers
• Angled base for a more comfortable massage
• Easy pour water disposal
• Keep warm function
• Acu-pressure nodes

The foot spa is a really enjoyable experience. It feels like pure luxury emerging my tired feet in a bubbling spa. I could really feel my feet being gently massaged whilst resting in the bubbles.
The spa offers double the bubbles as the bubbles come through 4 bubble strips. When the bubbles are on, a keep warm function is activated to keep the water warmer for longer. When using and filling, the water needs to already be warm to your liking as the spa can only keep it warm and not heat it up.
The pumice stones (for pedicure) included are: Coarse for exfoliation and removing dead skin and Smooth for polishing skin.
The foot spa is a perfect way to relieve stress as well as soothe aching tired feet. It also aids relaxation and if used at night time can help towards a better sleep.
The foot spa is big enough to accommodate any size feet. I have a size 5 and my fit perfectly with lots of room for bigger sizes.
The foot spa is easy to use, easy to empty out and is small enough to store away in a cupboard for when not in use. It empties by simply tipping the water out.
I now use my foot spa regularly a few times a week as part of my beauty regime. Gone are tired aching feet.
The foot spa has an RRP of £49.99. It is available directly from Homedics. I have also seen it for sale in several other places via a google search.
Here is the spa in use. Please excuse my feet. I self tan hence the colour and my feet aren’t the prettiest. I was also wary of dropping my iPhone into it whilst in use, but you can see it bubbling and working here at least

20140316-204907.jpg

For obvious reasons it’s best to use the foot spa in a room which is not carpeted. I have a large kitchen/dining room so I just sit on a chair and use it in there. It is also recommended to place a towel under the spa whilst in use to minimise spillage. I would also say to use it when kiddies are in bed or they too will probably want a go.

Mother’s Day is almost here. One of these foot spas would make an amazing gift and would certainly show mothers out there just how much they are loved and appreciated for all the hard work they do.
