Forest feast Christmas collection

Published December 6, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Forest feast are home to tasty fruit and nut snacks and have recently launched a festive collection in time for Christmas.

These festive snack packs combine blends of both sweet and savoury ingredients together such as nuts, dried fruits and even bits of chocolate. These make lovely Xmas day nibbles for all the family.

If I’m being totally honest, I’m not usually a big lover of nuts or dried fruits, but I do make an exception around Christmas and these do taste incredibly good. The vanilla cashew, cranberry, chocolate, fruit and nut went down a treat. I would usually expect a mix like this to contain some sort of dried fruit that I don’t like such as raisins, currants, dates etc but no, it contained dried cranberries which are one of the very few dried fruits I actually like.

There are four festive varieties to choose from and each one costs £3.50 per bag.

Kids stocking fillers

Published December 5, 2017 by Bizzimummy

For last minute stocking fillers, HMV has some good deals on their selection of stocking fillers for kiddos. Their pop vinyl figures are great. If you’re not familiar with pop vinyl then this is what they look like.

It’s figures created from vinyl. Many well known characters exist as pop vinyl and they are really collectible. I have a few myself. Characters from movies, games, comic books, fairytales along with pop and rock stars, the list of pop vinyl characters is endless.

These are great for all ages too, both young and old collectors or just a favourite one off figure as a small gift.

The prices vary, usually starting at £10 upwards, however HMV have greatly reduced the price of a selected few. The popular figures sell out very quickly tho as I found out myself from past collections.

A letter from Santa

Published December 5, 2017 by Bizzimummy

When little Izebella came home from School last night, she was so happy to see a letter with her name on it. This letter came with an official North Pole stamp and was from the big guy – Father Christmas his self.

Father Christmas knows all about Izebella. He knows she lives in Bolton, a place that he likes to visit first when dropping the presents off, he even knows the name of Izebellas friend and what presents she wants this year. Izebella even got her own nice child certificate for being so good and has proudly made it onto Santa’s nice list.

Izebella can’t read the big letter herself as she can only read small books with bigger letters, so I read it to her and her little face lit up with delight.

The elves and Santa even sent Izebella a few activities to do before the big day.

Lots of things to make a colour in.

These special letters come straight from The Lapland mailroom. Each letter is made just for every individual child with names, places and wanted gifts. Santa knows everything.

Letters start from £8.95 each.

Wise words from the book of everyone.

Published December 1, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This book would make a brilliant stocking filler or small gift this Christmas!

Wise words comes from the creators of The book of everyone. Wise words is designed for the younger people, not tots or pre schoolers but more towards young teens and older children like my ten year old.

It’s a personalised book with the child’s name and who it’s from (mum). The books pages are full of quotes and funny tips which may just prove useful one day.

These quotes and tips can be chosen from a list and even altered to suit the child and the situation, just like this.

The quotes are all placed where an animals head should be and the pages are all designed with colour and themes.

It’s an absolute buzz to read through it. I would have loved for someone to give me a book like this when I was younger. I chose the quotes which are relevant to Jordanna and her current behaviour. Hopefully she will take some of it in.

Wise(ish) words for kids supports the Well child charity who’s aim is to support seriously unwell children at home.

Wise words comes as many formats to purchase – digital, soft back, hard back and deluxe and all the prices and options can be viewed on the website.

Churchill’s retro tins for Christmas

Published November 30, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I love my tins from Churchill’s confectionery and especially so at this time of year. If you’re reading this and are not familiar with the Churchill’s brand then take a look at their website. The majority of their confectionery products come in special highly decorative tins which makes them more unique than the rest. Festive, flowers, Art Deco and fairground are just a few of the themes on the tins.

This Christmas we are going all retro on the tins, with a touch of the USA too. I am amazed at just how realistic these tins look.

These tins resemble retro American gas pumps. They look really authentic and if i didn’t know better, I would never guess there is confectionery inside them.

Not one, but two big bags of creamy English toffees all in golf wrapping. The toffees are delightful and the tins reusable. Once the toffees are gone they can be used to store other things or just put out on display.

These retro phone booths don’t have a load of wires or change inside, but instead are full of cookies.

These look fab placed on a kitchen unit or table as everyone asks what they are? No one suspects that cookies are inside. They even have an attached little retro phone too.

Plus many other features of old retro style phone booths like the coin slots, coin return and the phone maintenance door ar the bottom.

And of course the cookies taste lovely too.

All of these retro tins and many other themed tins from Churchill’s confectionery would make amazing unique and very festive gifts for anyone young or old this Christmas

Churchill’s products can be purchased from their online shop, their London store, Amazon and a selection of other stores across the UK.

Tumball

Published November 29, 2017 by Bizzimummy

No Christmas could be complete without throwing in a few family games. Like this one from Megableu.

This is Tumball – The nerve wracking bead stacking game.

It’s a very minimalistic easy set up and easy play game. No batteries needed, no board, no counters or even cards. Just a frame and a whole lot of balls and beads.

The coloured calls are suspended in a cradle and the object of the game is to each place a smaller white bead onto the cradle of balls.

It’s not quite as easy as it sounds, as the white beads have to be carefully placed using a thin stick/straw and not with hands or fingers.

If the bead stays on, then the next player goes. However the cradle of balls gradual gets weighed down with the beads on top and begins to come apart meaning the white beads will fall down. If the white beads fall on a go, then the player must pick all the beads up and add them to their own pile. The winner being the one to get rid of all their white beads first.

It takes a steady hand to place the beads correctly and it gets more difficult as the more beads get placed. I think it works best with more players too, as this again adds more beads, building up more of a suspense on each turn. Up to four can play and it’s recommended for ages 5 and over, It’s all about trying to work out the best position to balance the ball cradle out.

I can just imagine this being played on Christmas Day with children and one or two slightly tipsy adults attempting to place the beads with a straw.

Tumball retails around £17.99.

Hasbro: Olaf’s Frozen adventure

Published November 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

If you thought for a minute that the whole Frozen hype was slowly fading then you could not be more wrong. The new film in the Frozen franchise named – Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is due to hit cinema screens later this week. This means young fans of Elsa, Anna and Olaf will no doubt be wanting everything Frozen again this Christmas.

It’s not surprise that the new toys are already here for this movie. A collection of dolls and other items featuring the movie characters with slightly new features.

Here is our snacking talking Olaf. He eats the supplied snacks which include yummy cakes and treats, plus he says a few phrases and talks whilst being fed. Because Olaf is a snowman it means his snacks just slide out of him. This Olaf is a bit bigger than the previous solid Olaf figures that are usually really small.

No Frozen movie would be right without a certain princess and that princess is of course Elsa. We have two Elsa dolls from Hasbro’s new Frozen collection.

This Elsa is dressed in a stunning long dress and fur lined cape. Her dress has snowflakes on it which light up and glow as she sings the well known theme tune – let it go. This doll also looks very much like the movie character.

And to make Elsa even more special, a doll that turns into a melody maker. The Play a Melody gown Elsa.

Her long blue dress is designed like a mini keyboard with hidden notes across it. The snowflakes light up and transform into musical keys to play Let it Go. There are three modes of play including an easy guided mode and free play to play own tunes and melody’s. Izebella says this one is her favourite doll out of her new dolls set.

This seems to also be the most expensive out of the three, costing upwards of £34.00. Olaf and the other Elsa doll figures starting at £21.00 upwards.

So this Christmas be prepared for more Frozen wants and buys.

Gifts for girls: My little Baby Born walks

Published November 21, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Continuing with my “Gifts for Girls” features today I have the new “Baby Annabell learns to walk”

If there is one gift that can be guaranteed to be on a young girls wish list at some point, then it has to be a Baby Born doll. This is the sort of doll that I would have wanted when younger and having two girls myself means I am very familiar with the Baby Born range.

This little darling comes dressed in a gorgeous pink dress and matching hat. There is a while boutique of Baby Born clothes that can be purchase separately. She looks like a small baby with realistic features.

Baby Born walk doll does just that, she walks just like a baby would. She is sound activated and comes with a rattle. When she hears the rattle or another sound such as a hand clap, she will walk.

Her walking function works best on solid flat floors such as wooden or vinyl etc, she isn’t too great on thick carpet so we tend to use her in the dining room.

She also cries and babbles too which adds to the dolls realistic baby features even more. Izebella loves the new doll and enjoys trying to get her to walk by clapping, shouting and rattling the rattle.

I think this Baby Born doll is very reasonably priced compared to previous Baby Born dolls. It can be purchased for less than £30.00 at many toy stores and is suitable for little people aged 2 and over.

Make your home festive with Cox & Cox lighting

Published November 18, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I really cannot wait to get my decorations down from the loft and up for Christmas this year. It always seems to cheer me up a little. Christmas decorations are so fun, it’s no wonder a house looks so bare when they are gone.

Lighting certainly adds to the whole warm festive look and there are so many Christmas lights and light up products to choose from.

Cox and Cox have a great selection of festive lighting for both indoors and outside. I have picked  out a few of my favourites.

This is the Wooden carnival star. It’s a simple piece which gives a huge effect. Placed on top of a unit or on the window sill, it would look quite stunning anywhere.

The candle tree lights make a big difference to the standard fairy lights. There are ten candles, each one clips to a tree branch and can be controlled with the included remote.

For those who like their outdoor decorations, this running deer would make quite a stand alone piece. It’s a little on the pricey side costing £75 but oh my how I’d love this in my garden.

Finally these Naked wire icicle lights. These would be great for hanging in windows or over shelves and they can be used outdoors too.

Project Mc2 spy journal

Published November 9, 2017 by Bizzimummy

If you have a young girl who loves secret diaries and also likes the Project Mc2 franchise then this spy journal may just be her thing.

It’s different to the traditional diaries as it contains so much more. It comes with an Nov8 Missions book, invisible ink pen, “nerdy” bracelet, and also has hidden compartments.

The bracelet is used to open up and unlock the journal, and no worries if my girl loses the bracelet because it can also be opened via a secret button too, tho we best not tell her nosey brother that.

The invisible ink pen uses the black light technology to display text and images in the journal, only when the special pen is shone onto the pages.

The journal is interactive, it requires batteries and when opened will give various greetings and messages. There is also an app but this is only for Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, ipod etc). The app isn’t really needed, the journal can be used without it and it’s just an added extra feature.

The notebook contains chemistry element tables which really come in useful when learning about science. There are also several stickers and space to write own notes.

This journal costs between £18-£25 depending on where it’s bought from and seems fine for girls ages 7 and over. It’s a place to write secrets whilst also learning some science.
