Epaderm Junior for skin conditions

Published August 9, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I’m lucky to have near perfect skin, no dryness, no irritations. Unfortunately my ten year old daughter does suffer from dry skin and frequent irritations and strange spots, possible mild eczema (doctors words, not mine!). We have tried several creams and ointments, some work a bit, some don’t.

This time we are trying the new Junior range from Epaderm. Epaderm are experts in emollients and emolients are moisturisers which soothe, hydrate and keep skin moist so it doesn’t itch as much.

The Epaderm Junior range includes Epaderm Cream: a 2-in-1 emollient that can be used as a skin moisturiser and a skin cleanser; and Epaderm Ointment: a 3-in-1 emollient that can be used as a skin moisturiser, a cleanser, or added to a bath.

The ointment has a similar consistency to Vaseline, tho not quite as thick, it’s oily but doesn’t feel greasy or sticky once applied.

The oily substance really helps to keep the skin from drying out and adds enough moisturiser for a twice a day application. I have used this on my skin too, I don’t have skin problems but I always test any child products on myself first. I can see how a product such as this can work to help with dryness and irritations, it contains no fragrant or anything that could irritate the skin further.

The Junior cream is a little lighter than the ointment and comes out as a white cream. It’s cool when applied and again no fragrances or anything else so this seems good for applying to very irritated or hot skin as the cool feeling is instant. This also doubles up as a soap when bathing.

Both the cream and the ointment can be applied as many times as required throughout the day. Jordanna seems okay using both products daily by herself, mainly on her arms and legs which is where the skin seems especially dry, sometimes almost like sandpaper.

The products packaging seems very child friendly too, with cute hippo and frog images. Thus encouraging the younger children to use the products too.

As for the question on whether the Epaderm products work or not? Well this is difficult to answer. The products are not a miracle cure and nor do they claim to be. Jordanna may always suffer from dry skin problems which seem to worsen in Winter. These products simply help to provide relief and moisture for her skin, and yes that’s exactly what they do for her. Her skin does feel better after a few days of using them.

Buy from Boots, prices on their website. Epaderm also offer similar products for adult and teenage skin.

Beauty treats  – Janiro + giveaway!

Published May 15, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This week I will be writing  lots more beauty type posts and including some new products that I have been using recently.

Today I have 3 products from Janiro and their Bio-essence range.

Miracle water!

The first product is pretty much a multi use product and can be used by all members of the family. Bio essence water comes as both 100ml and 300ml aerosol spray bottle. It does a lot of things including acting as a cooling spray on hot days, moisturising dry hair, helps to reduce eye strain and even as a make up stay spray.

As it’s ph balanced and hypoallergenic it means even those with very sensitive skin can use this without problems. My 9 year old daughter suffers from dry skin problems and this helps to relieve dry patches.

It’s only ingredients are Aqua and nitrogen so it really is a very gentle product. I imagine the nitrogen is just for the aerosol bit rather than the product itself.

The one slight let down with this product is that if using it as a general cooling spray to cool down in the sun when sweating then it does make my skin smell a bit, like a sweaty odour which is luckily temporary.

It seems perfectly safe to spray all over the body even on the face.

Price starts from £9.00.

Facelift?

Next onto my favourite product of the three- The Facelifting cream with royal jelly and ATP

I’m always a little dubious when products and creams claim to beable to give face lifts and make the skin feel better, but this is one that I actually really like. The moment I apply it, I get an instant lovely cooling sensation all over my face and it lasts a few minutes afterwards. It’s not often I get this from other creams and it tells me that something is definitely working there. I have also noticed a slight reduction on my head lines which just don’t seem as noticeable recently.

And look it’s like a pot of whipped cream!

I love this stuff. The cooling effect, the reduction of lines and how it dries so quickly. This is one product that leaves my skin feeling great after just one application.

This cream has many benefits, all of which you can read about on the product page. It is not an amazing cheap product because good products don’t come very cheap. A 40g pot of this stuff costs £33.90 but it really is a good buy.

Snail secretion! Yes really!

This product got me thinking. It couldn’t possibly be made from real snails could it? Not those slimy things with shells that we all find in our gardens? But yes it is.

The use of snail slime in beauty products actually goes back to Ancient Greece. Just as we excrete oils in sweat to protect our skin, snails do a similar thing. As a snail protects itself, the slime that is excreted from its body is packed with nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, antimicrobial and copper peptides, and proteoglycans. All of these nutrients are already commonly added to beauty products and are thought to provide many benefits to skin.

As well as natural snail secretion this snail repair serum also contains collagen and bio energy fluid amongst other beneficial ingredients.

The application is by a glass dropper and it can be applied alone or with a moisturiser such as the face lift cream above. This is the first time I have used any type of snail secretion product. It is not slimy or smelly and unless told I would have had no idea that this product is made with the help of snails.

This serum is £26.90 for a 30ml bottle.

If you like the sound of the snail serum then you can enter my giveaway to win one for yourself below.

Necta Perfecta beauty mask

Published May 4, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I have been testing out another beauty mask. I love products that are made with all natural ingredients just like this one from Bee Good. Yes that’s spelt correctly too and as you can probably imagine – Bee good products contain honey.

British wildflower honey in beauty products attracts and locks in water, protecting against skin dehydration and creating a silky smooth film to plump and visibly improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

The honey is just one of five natural ingredients in this beauty balm. The other four being – Supercharged plant oils (wheatgerm & camelina), natural waxes, Bisabolol and Propolis (from beehives).

This is a top to toe beauty balm meaning it is of benefit to many areas of the body and can even be used on the scalp and part of a hair treatment.

This beauty product arrived very well presented in its own gift box with a very upmarket style pot.

The balm itself is as you would expect yelllow/gold in appearance just like honey.

The texture is thick and appears a little waxy. When applied to my face it did feel ever so slightly greasy for a second or two but it did dry really fast. My hands did feel a little more greasy than my face and for some reason the product took a little longer to dry on my hands. It has a sweet honey sort of scent. It can be used as an overnight beauty balm and left on or as a quick exfoliater and washed off after five minutes.

As well as a beauty product it can also be used as relief for dry skin problems due to its natural ingredients.

It costs £39.95 but it is a fairly big pot and contains lots of product inside. It is really soothing to irritated skin and can even help with sunburn.

My Pure #3 – Trilogy Botanical lightening treatment.

Published January 20, 2016 by Bizzimummy

This month I am reviewing just the one product from My Pure

This is the Botanical lightening treatment and as with all My Pure products it is made with pure natural ingredients.

It’s a daily use product which aims to lighten and brighten to give a more youthful complexion. I am quite lucky to look a little younger than the grand old age of 38, but that doesn’t mean that my face is perfect. I have been noticing the odd lines on the head and other places here and there. I really don’t want to be looking old before my time.

The product also claims to help reduce and prevent pigmentation and age spots as well as giving instant illumination.

The best way to apply is this before the make up, this way it saves the need for a primer/highlighting product too and containing the natural ingredients means it’s also good for the skin when applying make up.

The pump nozzle on the tube was a bit hit and miss I found I had give a few good hard pumps to get the product to come out. It also has a bit of a musty smell too at first but you do get used to it.

It comes out as a white cream which glides on the face with ease. It dries very quickly too.

I could not really see much of a difference with day time use in a mirror; but.. When looking at a photograph from a night out I can really see the illumination part.

This was just a few nights ago and I can certainly notice the glow in my face and of course the rather youthful look so I think it does work.

The product does not come cheap. It costs £25.08 currently for a 50ml tube. I have had this just over a week and hoping to see more good results with daily use.

My Little Star Nappy Cream

Published June 12, 2014 by Bizzimummy

The “My Little Star range is the collection of baby products exclusive to Superdrug stores.
The newest addition to the range is a tub of deep moisturising nappy cream.

20140604-204041-74441405.jpg
The cream comes in 150g tubs. It is hypoallergenic, dermatologically tested, paediatrician approved.
The cream is enriched with castor oil which works to create an antibacterial barrier.

The cream looks and feels like most other creams out there with a white thick creamy consistency. There isn’t much of a smell to it, or maybe it’s just my nose but I couldn’t smell much when using it.
The good thing about this cream is that it can be used for many other things other than just nappy rash and bottoms. It can also be used for cuts, scrapes, blisters, sunburn and dry skin and possibly a few other things too.
Jordanna recently got a nasty blister on her toe through walking about in sandals. Whilst Izebella has had a bit of nappy rash. I used this cream for both of them so it certainly comes in handy to store in the cupboard for multiple uses.
The really good thing about this cream tho is the price. It costs just £1.49 which seems much cheaper than other nappy creams out there. It can be purchased in Superdrug stores along with many other baby products in the Little Star range.

Trying out Arbonne Intelligence CC Cream

Published May 9, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Arbonne International are a global health, beauty and wellness business which were founded in Switzerland. Arbonnes products are all vegan friendly and made from premium botanical ingredients.

I have been testing out one of their products over the past few weeks.

20140503-204104.jpg
Arbonne intelligence CC cream is a complexion cream which has 10 different uses.
It acts a Primer, Protector, Concealer, Hydrator, Mattifier, Brightener, Pore refiner, Comforter and Complexion controller. By being a 10 in 1 product it will save money, space and hassle from buying separate products.
The cream comes in four different shades- Fair, Light, Medium and Dark. The shades can even be mixed together to create over 16 different options.

I’m testing out the fair shade which seems to suit my fair skin perfectly. The tube of cream is only 30ml but I have found a little goes a long way.

20140503-204829.jpg
It is non greasy and blends in my skin very smoothly. I apply the cream prior to putting make up on and found it smooths out any odd patches giving my face an even colour and all over smooth texture. It acts as both a pre foundation primer and also as a foundation base. I like the even colour that I am left with after one small application and often find I don’t need an extra foundation on top.
It leaves my face looking flawless whilst at the same time soothing and moisturising my skin. It also adds an element of brightness. It almost makes my face glow on a photograph.

20140503-205607.jpg

Intelligence CC Cream does come with a £30 price tag, which when you look at the small size of the tube may seem rather expensive. I guess the argument would be that it is like several products in one, saving money buying other products etc. Also when it comes to skin care, we need to be careful what goes on to our skin and only the best will do.
