Christmas decoration at Melody Maison

Published November 9, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I cannot wait to put my huge Christmas tree up once again in just a few weeks time. I have a very large tree that measures almost 8ft. I tend to decorate when my children are not here, otherwise it gets too stressful. I have bags full of decorations in my loft, but this doesn’t stop me wanting more new bits every year.

This year I’ve been sent some rather lovely items from Melody Maison who sell all sorts of wonderful items for the home. They have a Christmas product section on their website just full of beautiful products.

Christmas magic signs and gold instruments to hang from my large tree. I’m not one for following designated colour patterns on the tree, instead I like to add lots of unusual hanging decorations. These get a lot of people saying how lovely and old fashioned it looks.

This bright red wooden sleigh would look perfect on one of my cupboard tops with a cheeky elf inside.

The candy canes are made from foam and always look good hung on a tree!

And pretty silver sparkly bird cages with a place for a tea light!

The tea lights don’t come included, but if like me you are wary of using real tea light candles, then buy a battery operated one. Most stores sell these very cheaply.
And now I’m even more excited about putting the Christmas decorations up.

Last minute Halloween from Lidl

Published October 31, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Happy Halloween/ Samahain blessings everyone.

I know it’s a bit late on, bus these Halloween pieces have just arrived at my door from Lidl.

So if you haven’t bought your Halloween props and decorations, then head over to your local Lidl store as there may be a few bits left to grab (before the vampires do!)

Lidl pumpkin lanterns and scary glass candles along with spider webs and floating ghosts too.

And don’t forget the sweets and treats too for when the mini ghouls come calling later!

Lalaloopsy fluff n stuff & more Christmas crafting

Published December 2, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Lalaloopsy Mittens Fluff ‘n’ Stuff Doll is busy sewing snowflakes into her dress, because there’s a princess ball coming to Lalaloopsy Land! Mittens and her friends have sewn their unique style into their magical gowns. They Lalaloopsy Mittens Fluff ‘n’ Stuff Doll was sewn on December 21st and has been sewn from an eskimo’s scarf.

This is Izebellas new Lalaloopsy doll and it also happens to be the first one she’s had herself. Big sister Jordanna is now getting a bit too old for dolls which is a shame as this is a lovely doll.

Bright blue hair style and matching blue dress and shoes. Her arms and legs fully moveable and she comes with a little pet too. Those big button eyes are just adorable too we think. Like all Lalaloopsy dolls, this one also comes with her own personality and story of when she was created.

As well as a new doll for Izebella, we got a little Xmas snowflake decorating kit too and some sparkly bits to make it. Izebella made this star by herself.

And on the tree it now proudly hangs!

The lalaloopsy dolls make lovely friends for little girls everywhere and can be found in many toy stores before making their way to Santa. The new fluff n stuff dolls cost between £15-£20 depending on the store.

Christmas decorations with Gel-a-peel

Published November 30, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Did you know; Gel-a-peel isn’t just for making squiggly patterns or even jewellery. It can also be used for decorating objects and as it’s almost Chrismas, we have been decorating Xmas bits using the stuff.

This is the kit and accessories that we started out with.

If you don’t know what Gel-a-peel is, then in short it’s a new type of craft/design product. Tubes of squirty coloured gels that harden as they dry.

And here are my children’s #craftychristmas designs.

The gel-a-peel pens are easy to use and the stuff dries within a few hours. It is best to do it on an old towel or a non carpeted surface just so it doesn’t end up stuck everywhere.

Ryan now has his made stocking in his bedroom, yes boys will enjoy it too. My girls decorations are of course now proudly hung on our tree.

Gel-a-peel packs and accessories can be purchased in most good toy stores.
This post is part of the #CraftyChristmas campaign to celebrate Christmas being less than one month away.

Halloween at Asda

Published October 16, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Asda shelves are bursting with some very sinister and spooky Halloween goodies. There’s outfits, spooky food and lots of props and decorations like this assortment here.

This is just a small selection of what’s on offer this Halloween at Asda. The best bit being that all of these items are very inexpensive too meaning Halloween does not need to cost the Earth.

Props to hold such as big axes, fairy wands and ghoulish hands to collect sweets all add to the spooky effects of outfits.

This year Ryan is wearing the Scream outfit, for which the toy axe will go quite well with.

Jordanna has a fancy witch outfit and will be wearing this Monstrous witch kids mask.

And Izebella has a cat dress and will be wearing her new cute monster type pink hood.

To decorate our home on Halloween we have these ghastly hanging decorations.

The big devilish thing hangs on the door and costs £1.00.The glitter bird beasts come as a 5 pack again for just £1.00. The white skull plaque has a strange error appeal to it and big shiny beads  for eyes which shimmer in the dark.

Finally if you find yourself battling with a pumpkin and a whole load of messy pulp and unable to carve a real face, then fear not because this year I will be using this instead.

It’s a battery operated pumpkin lantern and when switched on it changes colours and illuminates the ghostly images on its front.

It certainly beats carving one.

All of these frightening gadgets and bits can of course be used over and over again for future Halloween celebrations. A bit like Christmas really, once used, put them in a box and in the loft for the next year. At these low prices they are certainly worth the purchase and will keep my kids happy for the night.

All of the above items can be found in Asda stores and Asda online.

Wundur Wall Art: Review & Competition

Published May 26, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Wall stickers are becoming the latest trend for modern homes. My kids already have a few on their bedroom walls and they can look quite effective and really transform a plain painted wall if chosen and applied correctly. They can even be a very inexpensive alternative to wallpapering which not only costs more but is a very time consuming job. The rooms in my hous consist of half paint/half paper hich is becoming quite the norm for many people thes days.

Wall art is what Wundur is all about and they have so many of the wall stickers to choose from for every room in the house, even kitchen and bathroom. The kids stickers include some pretty cutesie ones with fairies and butterflies and of course football for the boys. For the very young there is balloons and even a child’s name above the cot. The chalk board wall arts are certainly worth a look and I was slightly tempted to get one for the kitchen but decided against it ad I can only imagine them fighting over who gets to chalk what onto it. Still it’s a pretty smart idea tho.

I spotted a fair few double named wall stickers too, obviously for star crossed lovers who want their names above the bed or in the hallway for all to see how in love they are. Definitely not one for me given the state of my love life recently. I could just imagine tearing it from my clean painted walls in anger, but for young lovers or even old ones ,maybe.

Many of the stickers can be personalised and the majority come with many colour choices too.

There is a lot of choice. I spent a fair bit of time deciding on the perfect one and it was a choice between two or three but this is the one I found, and this is also the photograph of it in my room and above my bed.

This also comes in other colours!

I really lik it, after all dream is what you do in bd isn’t it.

The stickers arrive rolled up in a cardboard tube. The instructions were slightly complicated. The sticker comes in a 3 layer sheet and the best way to apply is to attach it to the chosen wall with tape and peel off first layer, leave to stick and remove second.

I was glad I chose a fairly small and less complex sticker because sticking them to the wall can be tricky and especially by myself, hence why it’s not 100% straight. The hardest part is getting the actual sticker to stick to the wall rather than the sheet when attempting to remove it. It requires a plastic card (credit card etc) to smooth it onto the wall whilst peeling and can be annoying when it starts to come away. I imagine the larger stickers will be quite difficult but once on the wall it looks pretty good.

And I’m not too bothered if it’s slightly mis-aligned as not many people will be getting in my bedroom. I have had wall stickers such as this before and they do peel off the wall easily enough too, should I get fed up of it. This one costs £20.00 but they are all priced differently.

Christmas Photo Gifts from Snapfish

Published December 16, 2014 by Bizzimummy

I have been a big fan of Snapfish for many years. It’s great for uploading photographs and then with the click of a button have them arrive at the door days later. Snapfish always seem to have constant offers on for both their individual prints and gifts which is really good for saving money. I recall just after Izebella was I purchased 100 prints which came to less than £8.00 and I have always found the prints to be clear good quality.

Snapfish very kindly gave me so e credit to spend on their site on festive photo products. The list of products to choose from is endless. It’s amazing how photographs can now be put on almost anything. Toys, cups, phone cases, calendars etc.

I got a total of 4 items and the total cost for all of these was just over £30 with postage. Here is what I chose!

First a very special Christmas decoration which is already carefully placed on my tree. These pretty personalise decorations come in a choice of both shape and design, loads of designs to pick from too.

The front allows for a photograph and unfortunately I did not have a Christmassy one at the time but at least it shows the three of them which by itself is a rarity for my photographs. Then the back can be personalised with text and a message. I chose to just put all 3 names on along with the year (incase I forget in many years to come!)

Now for some children’s stocking fillers. Ryan and Jordanna both have a personalised mug/cup each. I really love these, means no fighting over cups anymore. The cup allows for a photograph and a name and some text. There are a few designs and patterns available and the text also comes with a choice of fonts and colours which is why it looks different on each cup. I may put these in a small stocking Christmas Eve for them along with some small bits.

Izebella is a little too young for a cup like this just yet but I have not forgot her and Snapfish has something for her too. Just look at this cute little teddy. Yes this was also purchased from Snapfish.

It’s a lovely little teddy and it’s legs bend into a sitting position. This photograph does not show the Teddy’s T-shirt which has a photograph on it of Izebella very well, so here it is a little clearer.

The child’s photograph is put on the top and I’m sure Izebella will be quite fascinated by this, seeing herself on her new teddy. I could not see an option to add any text tho I may have just missed it but it would make a good addition to have her name put on it too.

I love all thes lovely things and I am sure my children will too when they see them at Christmas. The gifts are fairly inexpensive as I said previously, all 4 came to less than £30. Prices for each vary with different options of designs and personalisation.

The process is fairly straight forward. You need to register for a free account first. Then create an album, upload the photographs which is very fast on my laptop and then create gifts or order prints. The whole process took me about 30 minutes and I uploaded just over 300 photographs in total. The only downside is that it needs flash player to work so it’s cannot be done on an Apple device. Maybe this will change in the future.

The last order date for Christmas gifts is tomorrow (December 17th) so still time to get those last minute very personal gifts purchased.

They have many other photo gift ideas for almost any occasion too.

Halloween at Aldi

Published October 21, 2014 by Bizzimummy

IMG_0281.JPG

Aldi is about to turn very spooky with the launch of some very inexpensive Halloween accessories, including costumes, masks, decorations, food and lots more.
We have been sent over some spooky goodies to test out.

IMG_0282.JPG

First our rather scary Pumkin mask. there are 3 other masks to be found and they are excellent value, costing just 79p each. They make a great addition to costumes.

IMG_0279.JPG

IMG_0172.JPG

Also a spider headband. This one is probably more silly than scary but again would go with most outfits and again very cheap costing just £1.49 each.

IMG_0280.JPG

IMG_0187.JPG

For those wanting to push the boat out this Halloween and decorate their whole house, there are these very low cost LED berry lights.

IMG_0283.JPG
The lights come with a choice of 3 colours and with 40 lights a piece. They work on batteries so can be hung literally anywhere. I think they would be best hung over those big hanging skeletons or horror statues. These lights cost just £4.99 each.

Finally and probably the best item is our big pack of Play Doh. in the packet are 15 small individual tubs of assorted colours.

IMG_0285.JPG
This Play doh was soft and squidgy enough to use straight from the tubs and is very easy to work with.

IMG_0171.JPG
Ryan seems to love this stuff. Jordanna started making some things but got fed up and walked off so it was left to Ryan to make some spooky creations.

IMG_0172-0.JPG

IMG_0173.JPG
The Play doh does state that it’s suitable for ages 2 and over but I was a little wary about letting Izebella play with this just yet. I can imagine her trying to eat it and getting it everywhere, hence why she is not in the pictures either.
Anyway the Play doh costs just £4.99 for a 15 pack and will bring lots of fun even once Halloween is over.
So for a relatively inexpensive Halloween I would advise everyone to get down to their local Aldi as products seem to sell out very fast in stores. Many of their Halloween products can also be viewed on their website here.

Aldi also have a cool range of downloadable crafts and activities here

Lovely Festive Decorations from Tesco

Published December 14, 2013 by Bizzimummy

Have you put your tree and decorations up yet or are you perhaps doing it this weekend? Mine went up a few days ago but was a real rush with us just moving house and I actually worried it wouldn’t get done. With a little helping hand from a Tesco and there fab Christmas product range I finally got there.
Tesco have lots of amazing Christmas decorations, whether you want something modern or traditional they will have something everyone likes.
The decorations are also very inexpensive. I spent just over £20 and for that I got a total of 16 items plus it was on express delivery on a day of my choice and delivered to my new house. It arrived all neatly packaged in a big box by a smiling delivery driver. What more could I ask for- no queuing or rushing around shops to find things I can just pick, click and wait for it.
So what did I get your wondering. Well firstly for the tree: all of this.

20131213-144723.jpg
Oh and not forgetting these as well.

20131213-144746.jpg
There are baubles, eggs, toadstools, candy canes, angels, Santas, cinammon sticks, icicles and crowns. I went for the rather traditional look with mostly red and gold colours. Finally a star for the top too.

20131213-144955.jpg
My house is new so the walls are bare however this is what my tree looks like
at the moment with everything on.

20131213-145130.jpg
I was very surprised at how many things I could buy for £20 and also just how lovely and unique the tree decorations are. I have had lots of people commenting on them and asking where they are from. I think they expect me to say some fancy expensive shop and seem rather surprised when I say Tesco.
I got more than just tree decorations too. I also bought this ornamental gingerbread house.

20131213-145357.jpg which sits rather nicely on my display stand. Plus an extra little tree in gold.

20131213-145436.jpg
Ryan put this small one on our dining table and decorated it his own way. I think he has more or less claimed it as his tree. These come in other colours and they measure 2ft 5 and cost just £3.50. They even come with a stand too and great for small / spare or extra rooms you wish to decorate. Finally I chose an Oval wreath just to hang on a door.

20131213-145734.jpg
I think these give any home that old fashioned Christmas touch with berries and leaves on it.
Now my home is decorated thanks to Tesco and all for just £20. Unbelievable really when many people spend so much more and get so much less.
