Snazaroo face paint pens

Published February 2, 2018 by Bizzimummy

Snazaroo are probably the most well known face paint brand and they have just launched a brand new product which actually makes face painting even easier for us novices.

It’s quite a coincidence that these face paint pens arrived the day before my daughter had a super hero’s day at school. Her favourite character being Harley Quinn and therefore the red and blue pens being perfect, with a bit of gold added in.

The face paint comes out of the pens by twisting them until a little is visible on the brush, too much out can get messy so it’s best to take time with these.

It does seem slightly easier than trying to apply with a sponge or make up brush as I was able to create finer lines and it’s more useful for finer details.

They seem to contain a fair amount of face paint too and unlike the usual stuff, it won’t dry out or get full of hairs and bits, as long as the lids are kept on.

Well off my little Harley Quinn went to join her friends on super hero day.

We had the adventure pen pack which is fab for super hero’s but there are four other packs with different colours and all for £9.99.

Last minute Halloween from Lidl

Published October 31, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Happy Halloween/ Samahain blessings everyone.

I know it’s a bit late on, bus these Halloween pieces have just arrived at my door from Lidl.

So if you haven’t bought your Halloween props and decorations, then head over to your local Lidl store as there may be a few bits left to grab (before the vampires do!)

Lidl pumpkin lanterns and scary glass candles along with spider webs and floating ghosts too.

And don’t forget the sweets and treats too for when the mini ghouls come calling later!

Happy Halloween with Snazaroo! 👻

Published October 2, 2017 by Bizzimummy

It’s October once again, and that means a couple of things for me. First and most importantly Izebella turns a big five on October 5th, secondly it’s about to get a whole lot colder and my heating bill will start to rise and then of course, right at the end it’s Halloween!

Yes love it or hate it, Halloween is once again almost upon us. A time for the ghosts and goblins to come out in hoards, bang on our doors and expect sweets and treats, and I won’t even start on those dreaded clowns who think they are a reincarnation of Pennywise.

Anyway no Halloween would be complete without spooky products, costumes, sweets and more. Yes it’s all getting too commercialised, my dear gran would no doubt say if she was still around; but it’s once a year and it’s lots of fun.

To kick off my Halloween posts, I have Snazaroo face paints.

Snazaroo are now a really well known brand for this type of product. These mini kits come in really useful for Halloween as they have all the colours needed for a certain spooky character, the image on the packs. Therefore no wasted colours and no big box.

So we have the vampire face and spooky purple spider. We all had a go at painting faces, it’s not really something I do often and to be honest I am a bit rubbish at it. It’s a whole different ball game to applying make up.

I guess practice makes perfect but it was my first attempt. Jordanna practiced on her friend too.

This is probably a much better attempt than mine.

The face paints blend in well and none of the children had any sort of reaction despite Jordanna having fairly sensitive skin.
The packs come with brushes and sponges which help with blending and it all washes off easily with soap and water or even baby wipes.

Head over to Snazaroo to view a whole load of Halloween themed face paints and accessories! 🎃👻☠️👿😺

Animal onesies at TP Fancy dress

Published April 18, 2016 by Bizzimummy

What could that be crawling and miaowing around my home. It looks like a huge cat! But of course it’s just little Izebella.

We were recently given an opportunity to test out animal onesies from TP Fancy Dress (tickled pink fancy dress). I was also given a choice of animal onesie and these come in various types of animal including unicorns. The onesies come in sizes for both adults and children.

Izebella has a love of cats as she has one, and often thinks she is one; so the perfect choice for her was the tabby cat.

Tabby cat comes in 2 sizes for children and Izebella has thesmaller size for 3-5 years so it is slightly big and baggy on her at the moment.

It’s very cute, cosy, fluffy and warm. The hood is the cats face and it even has a tail.

She spotted the onesie when she came home from nursery and put it straight on, refusing point blank to take it off. Then she started crawling on all fours, miaowing and said her name is now Daisy (our cats name).

Izebella loves this cat onesie, she even insisted in sleeping in it too, tho it is very warm to wear so not recommended for warm summer nights.

It seems a good quality outfit, thick and fluffy and it washes well too without any noticeable shrinkage or shape distortion. I dry it outside tho rather than the dryer just incase.

I’m not sure what the real cat makes of it all tho!

The kids kigurumi tabby cat costume costs £32.99 from TP Fancy dress.

World book day with Asda

Published February 26, 2016 by Bizzimummy

World book day is almost upon us yet again. Some parents love it, many dread it. Yet more costumes to buy or even make. I am hopeless at making anything and having 3 costumes to buy can be pricey so I was very happy when Asda got in touch about their costume selection in time for world book day.

World book day is about celebrating books and characters from books. It is quite sad and probably disappointing for the teachers too when a hundred Elsas or Annas from frozen turn up or perhaps a fair few sponge bobs or minions. Whilst there may now be books with the modern Frozen story and the odd minions album, none of these started out as books and therefore probably not what schools really have in mind when it comes to characters from books. It’s a shame some of the older and more classic book characters have become overlooked.

Whilst Asda of course sells Frozen costumes (along with everywhere else) and a fair few other tv characters, they also have a brand new selection of more classic kids book character costumes. Here’s just a few of them.

I was kindly asked to choose costumes for my children. I felt like a big kid at Christmas making the choices for them and they all seem really happy with what I chose. We didn’t have world book day when I was younger or at least I don’t remember it and costumes such as these were not as available and probably more expensive to buy than nowadays. Asda seem to have a really good selection.

I only received the outfits yesterday and therefore this is a fairly fast review in time for weekend when most parents consider going out to get them.

Izebella attends school nursery and for her I chose Alice in Wonderland

She is a little young to be familiar with the story but we do have a few books of both the Alice adventures. It comes with a headband and a little carry purse in the design of the clock.

Now I don’t mean to brag or boast but I think she looks adorable in this and the blue really seems to suit her. The above pic still has the tags on as she could not wait to try it on. Here is one without both tags and dummy.

And the back!

I think Izebella will be very happy wearing and showing off in this next week.

Continuing with the fairytale heroines we have Snow White for Jordanna. It’s a story she loves and like Alice in Wonderland the story goes back to the turn on the 1900s possibly before and it’s a story every child knows.

This dress is quite long and it’s a 9-10 years. Jordanna is 8 but it’s not so long that she’s tripping over it and could easily be slightly tucked up a little. It also comes with a red headband.

So now I have two gorgeous little princesses for world book day.

Finally Ryan. Ryan is at high school now and so far I am unsure what, if anything they are doing for world book day. Ryan is part of the school council and is wanting to suggest that his year (year 7) dress up for it. Hopefully they will and he will also get to wear his costume. It’s Willy Wonka from the famous Roald Dahl book – Charlie and the chocolate factory.

And here he is looking rather smart.

It’s a 3 piece costume with the big hat, pants and the top which combines the shirt, jacket and tie. Size 11/12 and a perfect fit for him plus smiles all round.

The children’s costumes vary in price and cost slightly more the bigger the size. The majority cost between £10-£15. Adult costumes are also available too. Alll the costumes I revieced are all good quality and I am sure they will get plenty of wear long past world book day.

“Let it Go” with the Frozen Elsa Magic Snow sleeve

Published March 18, 2015 by Bizzimummy

My two girls absolutely love Frozen and anything to do with it. They have the DVD, the CD, duvet covers, dolls and much more. Each day Izebella will randomly start singing the “Let it Go” theme tune and I am told she often sings it at nursery too.

The new short “Frozen Fever” film is out from March 27th, Jordanna has already heard this news and is looking forward to watching it. She was also extremely happy to receive a new Frozen gadget from the guys over at Flair Plc. It's a magic snow sleeve. As well as the snow sleeve, Jordanna was also sent a lovely Frozen Elsa dress from Rubies Fancy Dress to help with the review.

The Magic snow sleeve is made up of a small sleeve which matches the blue Elsa dress, the snow sprayer unit which is made from tough plastic and needs no batteries, a water bottle sprayer and a can of snow spray.

I knew Jordanna would love this but I was a little concerned with the use of an aerosol spray which is what this is, especially so around Izebella as I knew she would want a go too.

The instruction sheet comes with steps on how to fit the snow bracelet and a fair few different languages so you have to try spot the English ones on each. The bracelet is first strapped on around the wrist, then sealed with a snow clasp. The spray bottles go underneath and a further attachment over the hand. The snow spray and water bottle are for separate use but both attach on the same way.

The instructions clearly state that it's for outside use only, but being rather silly and eager to try it out before Jordanna did, I accidently sprayed some – oops!!!

It looks and smells like that stuff they sold in Joke shops many years ago. I think they called it silly string. It's foamy strange stuff which dries very quickly, although not sticky and seems safe enough. The extra water bottle is for water. This water spray will no doubt come in handy once the silly snow spray is gone as I have no idea how or where to purchase another.

This is the Elsa dress straight out of the packet. It's a large- 7/8 year size. It's very long and has the queen robe bit at the back too.

It's a good quality Elsa dress. There are probably hundreds out there. Many very cheap on ebay, but I find many are bad quality and wrong sized which tear easily. This is a perfect size for Jordanna with growing room. I am sure she will get much use out of it with parties and occasions.

Well Jordanna could not wait to get the dress on and try out the Magic snow sleeve. I put it on for her and attached the Magic sleeve. She was then ready to “Let it Go” just like Elsa.

It took her a few seconds to get the thing going but when she worked it out it was quite funny to watch. Good job we did it outside, the stuff shoots out everywhere and gets all over the place. The water one is of course much less messy but means everywhere gets wet. Plus Jordanna thinks it's a good idea to spray the water in her mouth every now and then.

I do feel less wary when she is spraying the water around rather than the snow stuff.

The Elsa Snow Sleeve is aimed at children 5 and over. Personally I think 5 is perhaps a little too young for this given that an aerosol can is involved. However the instructions do also state that it is to be used under the direct supervision of an adult.

It costs £29.99 (snow sleeve only, dress is a separate purchase) which is quite a high price for something like this. I think being “Frozen” branded obviously adds to the cost of it. I can see it being popular and especially so amongst little girls. The snow spray won't last forever tho and I could not find anything on the instructions on where to purchase another can or if another brand of the same stuff could be used. Jordanna absolutely loves it tho so I suppose that's what counts. As long as I supervise her when she is using it then it should be fine – except of course for the mess I have to clean up afterwards ha.

Jordanna was also very happy with her new Elsa dress too.

Hug-Mi huggable backpack & Competition

Published December 12, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Jordanna is a typical little girl who loves her bags and also loves dressing up. Hug-Mi takes care if both of her loves by being the worlds first fully functioning huggable backpack. It combines 3 elements of being a useable bag, a hat and a fun costume. The bags come in lots of fun furry characters which include a panda, bear, ladybird, Dalmatian and pony as well as a few others. Each character bag had its own unique name which all end in “mi” such as pony-mi.

For Jordanna I chose the Leopard character which is called Leo-mi. Jordanna likes her animal prints and spots so I knew she would be happy with this particular one.

Leo-Mi has a very cute face I think with big droopy eyes. He is very soft and furry and so huggable.

The card you see in this photograph is not just a tag but rather his own passport to keep. It has Leo-Mi's details on along with his picture and space for Jordannas picture and info too.

The bag itself opens and closes with the zipper which can be clearly seen on the picture above.
The bag measures 34x18x48cm and on first inspection it didn't look like it would hold that much but it's quite deceptive. Jordanna decided she liked it so much and really wanted to take it school. She managed to fit 3 books inside plus her glasses and a water bottle. She goes to get fathers house at weekends too and easily fits her clothes and bits inside it. The bag even has a hidden plush pocket inside too which is perfect for small toys and secret sweets.

The Leopards face forms the hat/hood and the costume arms are carefully tucked away inside the bag. These are very easily pulled out and pushed back in for costume time. The sleeves have soft plush paws on the end and a strap to slip hands in. Both the arms and the bag strap have Velcro straps for the arms to hug the bag.

Jordanna seemed over the moon with the new backpack, wanting to carry and take it everywhere with her. It's very comfy on she tells me and even keeps her warmer. As well as being a role play costume the animal hood also doubles up as a hat to keep the head warm outside and it seems animal hats are the latest fashion at Jordannas school.

Role play is of course very important to a child’s development. It helps their imaginations to develop and whilst engaging in role play activities a child can become whoever they want to be. In Jordanna’s case this time it’s a Leopard which is more cute and cuddly than fierce..

A lot of Jordannas friends love her Hug-mi too and have asked where she got it from. Of course baby sister also loves it and I think she too wants one herself. She puts it on and makes funny Roar noises.

Charity Work

Hug-Mi is more than just a bag and more than just a fun role play costume. The characters have a little story to them in that they are all endangered species. Ani-Me continues to support these species by adopting the animals to match their character bags. By purchasing a character bag the buyer is supporting the charities and species.

More details on the Hug-Mi bags can be found at Ani-Me and also The Kickstarter project along with a video to watch here.
