JYSK AGERBY & Torrig dining set

Published November 13, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I believe meal times should be family time. A time for parents and children to sit and eat together and talk about the days events. Sadly not many families sit together for meals these days. This could be for a variety of reasons such as time or technology taking over; or through the lack of a nice dining table. Before JYSK got in touch. I had a very small table and worn out chairs; which wasn’t great for all four of us to sit around. However now I have this:

Yes it’s beautiful and creates a rather eye catching centrepiece to my kitchen/diner. This is the AGERBY & TORRIG dining set. It comes with a solid oak and tempered glass table and four TORRIG natural chairs which are made from Banana leaves and solid wood.
The dining table arrived in two parts. The solid oak frame in a long box and the glass top in another. The chairs luckily arrived ready assembled.
It was obvious from the outset that the table frame was good quality sturdy wood.

There weren’t a lot of pieces either, so getting it together was a little like a big wooden jigsaw with the pieces slotting inside each other. Despite one false start – I somehow aligned the pieces the wrong way – it did not take me long to correct things.

Getting the round glass top onto the frame requires two people as it is heavy and, being circular, needs a couple of safe pairs of hands to get everything snuggly fitted. This is quite a substantial round table top with a 119cms diameter. The table is secured to the frame via tiny suction cups which have a sticky side, however the weight of the glass top seems to hold itself in place just fine without them.

The table frame is really unusual, being untypical from the usual four legs. It’s more like a star shape, the sort that would usually be found on more expensive coffee tables.
I love how natural these chairs look. On first glance they may look more stylish than comfortable with their rattan/wicker effect – but they are actually very comfy to sit on. The natural effect seems to blend well with any decor.

Kids and glass tables don’t always sound like the best mix (what if they climb on it, throw something at it, slam something down too hard etc) but this is a tough, high-quality heavy table top and I think it would take a lot more than normal kid behaviour to crack it.

Once you’ve chosen a glass table top, then it’s worth making sure it’s kept clean – choosing the best glass cleaners and buffing thoroughly to remove any smears. Or, if the kids are involved, the addition of a waterproof tablecloth is an excellent means of child-proofing! Glass is much easier to remove food marks and stains from than a wooden table and help create a feeling of additional space – which is great for smaller areas.

My dining set is much larger than anticipated but it slots in nicely in my dining area. It means we can now all sit and eat together and enjoy more family time. The chairs look great with the glass table, but would look just as good paired with a natural wood table.

This full dining set currently costs just over £300. It is fairly easy to assemble and gives plenty of room for four people with the potential to add smaller chairs for extra children, for those special occasions if need be, that’s one of the beauties of a round table. It will certainly make our Christmas dinner more special. Have a look at JYSK’s great range of dining tables and chairs at http://www.JYSK.co.uk  #chooseJYSK.

JYSK “Feel the Happiness” Campaign

Published September 29, 2017 by Bizzimummy

JYSK is celebrating its 2,500th store internationally. To mark the occasion, the Scandinavian furniture retail store group that sells everything for the home aims to find out what makes us happy at home. I’m going to be reviewing some of the Danish home expert’s Scandi-vibe items as part of its ‘Feel the Happiness’ campaign and have partnered JYSK with a great competition for you too.

You’ll find JYSK in 48 countries with 15 stores in the UK and sells online at www.JYSK.co.uk. From furniture including bed frames, wardrobes, mattresses and sofas to soft furnishings like cushions and decorative accessories – a whole house can easily be furnished with JYSK.

JYSK is expert in HYGGE – “the Scandi art of making your home make you happy”. HYGGE (pronounced Hugar) focuses on cosiness, comfort and making time and space for relaxation and interaction with friends and family.

JYSK has one main question for this campaign; so I’ll be asking you to enter the competition and share….

“What makes you happy at home?”

JYSK’s aim is to arrive at the top 25 things that people love, that make them happy, at home. By this they mean the little HYGGE type things such as throws, a comfy mattress, a nice chair or cheerful cushions rather than the big things such as family, pets and love.

I am of course taking part in this campaign along with a select few bloggers across the UK. The campaign will involve me featuring several JYSK products and even attempting to assemble the odd few (that should be fun to watch!). And the best bit for all my lovely readers and followers –is that amazing competition which will start Monday October 2nd!

I don’t want to give too much away but this will be for a JYSK furniture product and may just be my largest giveaway so far.

Yes it’s all very exciting and I cannot wait to see the JYSK range in my own home.

A beautiful Chinese cabinet

Published February 3, 2015 by Bizzimummy

As a blogger I obviously receive and review a fair amount of products and nice things. The majority of these products are things which I really like or that my children really enjoy and get a lot of use out of. It’s especially good when something arrives at my door that makes me shake with utter glee and think “wow” that is just amazing.
Well as luck would have it this post is about one of those “Wow factor” products and here it is.

This is my new Chinese Cabinet from The Nine Schools.

The Nine Schools produce and design Chinese and Oriental style furniture which includes cabinets, sideboards, tables and home accessories. Each piece of furniture is handmade in workshops which are checked, visited and ethically sustained in China. The furniture is then hand decorated and sprayed with paint and lacquer.

Chinese people often use symbols and patterns as tradition and to help inspire lives. The symbols include:

•The Butterfly – signifies young love and sociability – flitting from flower to flower.
•The Dragon – a symbol of power, strength and good luck.
•The Goldfish – helps bring wealth and energy and abundance into life.
•The Phoenix – a symbol of high virtue and grace.
•The Chrysanthemum – signifies a life of ease and good luck in the home
.

These symbols are seen on the stunning pieces of furniture sold at Nine Schools.

Nine Schools contacted me and asked if I would like one of their small cabinets. I sort of fell in love with the thing from the moment I saw the picture of it.
It arrived within a week and my first thought was that it is absolutely stunning it’s like a work of art.

Butterflies have a deep spiritual meaning to me. When my baby girl Keira died at just 10 hours old i started seeing butterflies everywhere and I see them often now as signs of her. This beautiful cabinet is full of beautiful butterfly images.

IMG_2132
The images are so finely drawn, its obvious a lot of work has gone into this and I can say I have never seen such a beautiful piece of furniture like this.

IMG_2139

The cabinets colour is stated as blue but I would say it’s more of a turquoise with hints of green, maybe an oriental blue if that makes sense. The immaculate gold leaf design and edging really compliments the blue colour and it is just so damn pretty.

IMG_2140

There is a drawer at the top. I’m thinking this could fit in magazines or bits of make up.

IMG_2135
The cabinet opens up by 2 doors which then fasten together with a metal latch. The cupboard space inside is quite generous for a cabinet of this size.

IMG_2136

Even the door latch looks a work of art!

IMG_2143
The top and sides of this piece of furniture are so smooth and shiny just look.

IMG_2133

It’s made with Poplar wood and Plywood and measures 40W x 32D x 60H cms. It comes fully assembled too and just needs pulling out of the box which it comes very well packaged in.

IMG_2137

Well I absolutely love this cabinet. They can be used anywhere in the home be it living/dining room or bedrooms. They would make good toy chests or bedside cabinets for children’s rooms and also bedside cabinets for adult rooms too. I am about to decorate my bedroom (after a year of waiting!) I am now considering either an oriental theme or a butterfly theme to fit with the cabinet. This cabinet will be the centrepiece for the new bedroom. I think it will make a lovely mini vanity chest.

IMG_2134

Now for the price! It’s a top quality piece of furniture and also a piece of art. I think the price reflects how much work and craftsmanship goes into it and remember it comes ready built too and ready to use straight from the box. The price for this Chinese cabinet is £150.00. Delivery can take up to 2 weeks. The courier service is very reliable. They send a text message up to a week before with a delivery date and timeframe which can be changed. Then the courier rang me an hour before he arrived to let me know a time he would be here.

This eyecatching cabinet can be purchased directly here
