Xupo review & giveaway

Published May 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This is Xupo (pronounced Zupho)

It is a really basic device that comes in useful for finding possessions such as lost keys and precious lost toys. It is really small, just a small plastic disc shaped device with a hole to put a key ring through.

They are probably designed with lost keys in mind but I think they could be used on anything that a keyring clips on to.

It works via a mobile app which is free, and by Bluetooth connection. Setting up takes seconds. When keys are lost with a xupo on, A button can be pressed on the mobile device which will start a sound on the xupo. The sound doesn’t stop until the button is pressed again. It also works the other way around too. If I misplace my phone which happens often then I can press the xupo button on my keys and a noise will sound on my phone until I locate it.

I have tested Xupo both ways with both xupo keys and my phone in different rooms and upstairs/downstairs and it works really well. How well, depends on the Bluetooth range on the mobile device I imagine.

No more lost keys or phone for me now!

Xupo is a new product and was featured on Dragons den earlier this year. Therefore it is not widely available in stores just yet. I’m not too sure on price either at the moment but I can’t see it being expensive. More info can be found on the UK website. And there is also an opportunity to win your own xupo.

GIVEAWAY

Yes Xupo are giving away one of their devices and all you need to do is CLICK HERE! to take part.  This giveaway will end June 21st.

SuperGeek heros animated series + competition

Published May 18, 2017 by Bizzimummy

The SUPER GEEK HEROES are a unique group of super-kids… having fun in turn with a mission to learn! Their seven friendly ‘super-powers’ are derived from the three prime and four specific development areas of the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’.

These are… Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Understanding the World, Communication & Language, Literacy, Numeracy, Physical Development, and Creative Arts & Design.

By introducing “superhero characters” to represent learning and development areas within EYFS, children (and adults) interact more effectively when they understand and relate to their meaning. The use of fun animated 3D characters in this way make children’s learning and development cool, exciting and interesting right through their early years and beyond.

The series is shown on You Tube via many short episodes. They have recently added ten new episodes and I imagine there will be many more to come. All of the episodes are short lasting between 3-7 minutes long. There are 7 main characters in the series and each one teaches children a different thing.

· Personal, Social and Emotional Development – Suzi Smiles

· Understanding the World – Peter Planet
· Communication & Language – Vicky Voice
· Literacy – Jake Jotter
· Numeracy – Mille Maths
· Physical Development – Ant Active
· Creative Arts & Design – Ronnie Rock

Today me and Izebella have been watching a few of the episodes on SuperGeek heroes channel. I think the episodes are perfect for Izebellas age. They encourage learning in a friendly way. The colourful characters each have their own name and personality which children will start to recognise.

The episodes are also really short meaning Izebella doesn’t lose interest in fact she wanted to watch more.

Izebella especially likes Milly Maths and Vicky voice. I think that’s because they are girls in pink/purple.

Adults and kids can subscribe to SuperGeek heroes channel here. They have their own website too – http://www.supergeekheroes.com/.

COMPETITION

Yes there’s even a giveaway here too. The prize on offer is – A free 6 month subscription to KidsCast APP where you can download and view Super Geek Heroes on the go or cast to your TV! There’s a bit of information about the app here.

To take part just click the link! This giveaway will close June 1st 2017. The winner must have a compatible smart device to use the app.

L.O.L Surprise dolls + giveaway

Published May 16, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This is not the first time we have had L.O.L dolls. We received some a few weeks ago but these dolls proved to be very popular in the shops and quickly sold out. They are now back in many toy stores, if you have not heard of these dolls then keep reading.

L.O.L dolls come as a wrapped up globe shape toy. The idea is to unwrap many layers of plastic packaging, each time revealing a small toy or sticker (hidden surprises)

It’s a bit like a solo version of pass the parcel without the passing. Eventually all layers will be off to reveal the main surprise inside! The L.O.L doll.

These dolls are the new collectable craze and there are many of them to collect. On this occasion Izebella found the roller sk8r L.O.L and she comes with a dummy, outfit and roller skates.

Each one does different things, some of them drink, some change colour in water and other things. Girls will love them because there are so many to collect.
GIVEAWAY

MGA Entertainment are giving away a L.O.L doll to one of my readers. To win one just click the link below. This giveaway will end on May 30th 2017

Jelly Belly Jelly beans + giveaway

Published April 27, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Jelly Belly products are instantly recognisable with their red and gold label. The beans first appeared in the USA  back in 1965 with the mini jelly bean and the first actual jelly bean appearing in 1976  at a Californian ice cream parlour. The first ever flavours of jelly beans were  Very Cherry, Tangerine, Lemon, Green Apple, Grape, Licorice, Root Beer, and Cream Soda.

Since then a lot has happened. The jelly Belly jelly beans are sold worldwide with hundreds of flavours and a fair few different packs available.

Jelly Belly are now known as Jelly Belly Candy Company.

Jelly Belly are the ones responsible for the rather well known “Beanboozled” packs which I actually refused to try over Christmas when my son got a pack. It’s a box containing ordinary looking jelly beans but each colour may not be the same. It could be a normal flavour or something revolting such as rotten egg or stinky socks. YUK! and I hear that they do actually taste like their revolting name too. Kids seem to love them and they seem good for adult parties too.

I much prefer the more normal flavours. The thought of tasting rotten egg or moldy cheese just does not interest me. I would much rather stick with these.

I have a traditional jelly bean box with a massive 50 flavours. A jewel collection which come with a iridescent sheen a bit like a gem or shiny polished rock. You can see the difference here.

And finally, one I’ve not come across before is the cocktail mix which comes with a few well known cocktail flavoured jelly beans.

Jelly beans are good for a sweet fix and also seem to be a popular gift choice and stocking filler for kids. I just hope the Beanboozles don’t make a return this year.

Each one of my boxes above is 200g and they can be purchased pretty much anywhere that sells sweets and confectionery.

COMPETITION

Jelly Belly are giving away a selection of their products to one winner. The prize will most likely be the same products as above (subject to availability). This giveaway will close on May 11th 2017. The only rules are that you have to live in the UK and need a valid email address, Facebook and twitter account.

New DC Superhero Girls book series + Giveaway!

Published March 22, 2017 by Bizzimummy

My 4 year old has developed an obsession with some of the DC superhero girls and very much one in particular – Harley Quinn. Although I have no idea how or when she has seen her as we have not watched suicide squad and nor does she browse many comic books. Izebella begged to be Harley Quinn for world book day at nursery and surprisingly she was the only Harley Quinn in the whole school.

We have recently been sent some new books as part of the new DC superhero girls  series from penguin publishers.

We have three of the books in total, one being a story type book, an activity scribble book and a sticker book.

The story book is focused around Wonder Woman who is possibly one of the most well known and oldest female superheroes. This book is way too advanced for Izebella but big sister Jordanna also likes superheroes and anything girly. The book seems to be aimed more towards girls of Jordanna’s age, so around 9/10 years.

Wonder Woman™ wants to be the best super hero she can be, and that means going to Super Hero High School. But there’s a lot for the teen super hero to get used to at her new school! Save the Day alarms, a room-mate who shares everything on social media . . . not to mention the fact that Wonder Woman has never seen a boy before.”

Wonder Woman super hero high – is the first book in the DC superhero girls fiction series by Lisa Yee. This book has an rrp of £6.99.

Scribble book comes packed full of different activities, perfect for a young superhero who’s having a boring rainy day in or traveling. The pages are full of questions, quizzes, colouring in, mazes, notes and memories.

A full 160 pages of activity superhero girls fun.

      This also costs £6.99.

Finally a fun Power up sticker book. Izebella loves this one. It’s full of superhero girl stickers including her favourite – Harley Quinn.

The stickers are in the middle with page numbers of where they go, however Izebella tends to put them wherever she feels like including on herself. This book costs just £3.99.

All books can be purchased directly from the Penguin website, Amazon and book shops.

      GIVEAWAY

I have a set of the DC superhero girl  books as above to giveaway. To enter you must be a UK resident with a valid UK address and email. You also need a twitter and Facebook account. The giveaway will close on April 12th 2017. To enter please click the link below.

Drumond park: Dig in! Review + giveaway!

Published March 20, 2017 by Bizzimummy

This is our new game, sent to us by Drumond park.

The concept is simple, find the items that match the images on the card, the actual playing is a little more difficult.

Inside the box are 128 coloured pieces which come as all sorts of items, planes, cars, trees, keys, hats, animals to name a few plus several game cards, a game bowl and a timer.

2-4 players can play and each player begins with 15 seconds on the timer to find 6 matching pieces on their cards. The cards can be played to match the item and colour or just the item regardless of colour which is much easier. Of course it’s extremely difficult to dig through 128 pieces and find just 6 in 15 seconds; needles in haystacks springs to mind! Once each player has their 15 seconds, another 15 seconds is pressed and all players then dig in together using one hand to find more pieces. If after this time, no players have all six items then it goes into an “all in” dig round without the timer and with both hands until one player fills the card.

The main difficulties of the game are the pieces being so small and similar sized. The different colours also cause a visual distraction and even I found it hard at times to get the correct pieces. Add to this the short 15 seconds which is not long at all.

Overall it is a very simple game, minimal rules, no batteries, no dice and no playing pieces or even a board. It’s also quite fun and it does not take long to play. The winner being the one who fills 3 cards first. Of course it’s one of those games where you can bend the rules or add own twists to it etc.

There is one thing about this game that I don’t quite understand and that is the age guide recommendation that comes with it, which is 8 and over. Now I understand the dangers of small parts and playing pieces but this is more a danger for those under 3. By the age of 5/6 years the majority of children don’t put stuff in their mouths. Izebella being 4 years has bits of toys much smaller than the dig in playing pieces. She can also play Dig in without help and is more than able to find the pieces she needs to match the ones on her cards and that’s with the correct colour too. So I am slightly baffled as to why the age guide is set at 8 years.

Dig in by Drumond park has an rrp of £19.99 and should be available in most good toy stores.
