Envy Professional hair care

Published August 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I put my hair through a lot, and have done so for many years. It’s been bleached, coloured, highlighted, low-lighted, permed, blow dried, straightened and had extensions in. So when it comes to products for my hair, I don’t mind paying that little bit extra for a product that claims to help repair damage and give it an overall better condition.

Envy products are used by hairdressers as well as being sold to people like myself who want the best for their hair. Salon products can sometimes be hard to find without buying them in the actual salon after having your hair done.

They are recognisable by distinct black and green containers just like this.

Envy hair products contain silk proteins which help to moisturise, smooth and gloss hair. And Keratin which puts balance and moisturiser back into the hair. I have found that the majority of “better” hair products do contain keratin (the ones that actually work).

I have been regularly using three Envy products.

  • Gentle cleansing shampoo
  • Dual fix 12
  • Gentle detangling conditioner

These products smell absolutely amazing. I can’t be too sure exactly what the lovely scent is, but it smells sweet and fruity, possibly mango but it’s really lovely. I was really surprised at just how nice they are.

The shampoo gets applied the same as any other. I usually leave on for about 5 minutes max.

The Dual fix 12 is a totally new product to me. It’s like an inbetween treatment; after shampoo but before conditioner. This comes out like a mousse and gets left on for one minute. This is the main repair product and boasts an amazing 12 benefits for the hair.

  • 1 Amazing shine
  • 2 Helps to repair damage
  • 3 Weightless silk effect
  • 4 Easier detangling
  • 5 Helps to rehydrate hair
  • 6 Improves styling and blow dry results
  • 7 Thicker, fuller feel
  • 8 Helps Reduce Frizz
  • 9 Rejuvenates tired colour
  • 10 Hair feels stronger
  • 11 Reduces the appearance of split ends
  • 12 Lasts for weeks

This product can also be used as a more intense treatment on dry hair. Full instructions on the back of the bottle.

The Conditioner is a lovely thick lush cream. Even whilst wet I could feel my hair becoming smoother, detangled and overall easier to manage.

And after a quick blow dry, my hair feels lovely, soft, detangled, manageable and refreshed. It even seems to be growing a little better too.

As these are professional hair products which are used in salons, it does mean they cost slightly more than what someone would pay for a regular shampoo or conditioner from shops. The shampoo and conditioner both costing £14.95 each and the Dual fix slightly more at £19.95. In my personal opinion I do think it’s worth paying that bit extra to help bring my hair up to better condition and these products seem to really be helping. I would be happy to purchase more as and when I need them.

Other Envy products are also available at Envy Pro.

Beauty treats for me: Creightons Argan smooth

Published April 6, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Today it’s all about the hair and hair care. The brand is Creightons who own a good selection of popular high street beauty products. One of their latest ranges is the Argan smooth.

Argan oil has become a very well known miracle ingredient in health and beauty and especially so in hair care products. The antioxidants contained in Argan oil can help work wonders on all hair types, adding shine and nourishment to even the driest of locks.

I have tried out five of the new Argan smooth range. The shampoo, conditioner, heat defence spray deep conditioning masque and thd miracle hair oil.

I love the shiny blue/silver packaging which glimmers with light. I think it’s worthwhile having a few of these products together as they can all be used one after another, starting with the shampoo, conditioner, deep masque, heat defence spray and finishing a style with the miracle oil. It’s like a complete twice weekly hair care routine, I do only wash my hair twice a week as it requires heat styling due to a natural wave/curl and a bit of frizziness due to colouring so the less heat on it, the better.

Using products has made my locks more manageable and the best thing overall is the price of the products – mega cheap. All costing between £1.99-£2.99 each. All of these products together comes to less than £15.00 which is really surprising compared to other brands.

These products have recently been introduced into supermarkets too, as well as being available to buy online on the Creightons website.

And my hair after using these products for two weeeks.

The Little Bathtime Company

Published February 1, 2016 by Bizzimummy

The Little Bathtime company are based in Ulverston and create many lovely toiletries for children. The toiletries are formulated for young skin and contain only natural and organic ingredients and free from harsh chemicals.

Here is a selection of their toiletries which my children have been testing out.

There is a bubble bath, hair and body wash and a shampoo & conditioner in one. The bottles as you can see will really appeal to young children being bright and decorated with images of animals, dinosaurs and fairies. The lids are the type you press down and the liquid comes out.

The bubble bath gave lots of lovely foamy bubbles using just a tiny amount.

The hair and body wash makes a great double product and would be especially good for boys or girls with shorter hair who perhaps don’t yet need the extra conditioning. It also produces even more bubbles in the bath.

The shampoo & conditioner works well to eliminate the majority of tangles. I found it worked better on Izebellas hair which is slightly curly and more finer than on Jordannas hair which is very curly and thick and I still need to use the extra conditioner as her hair here very knotty.

The products come in 3 scents/varieties hence the different colour bottles. The pink is cherry berry, blue is Sweet and Tangy orange and green is green apple. We received one from each of the scents and they all smell pretty good. The bottles do seem to be aimed more towards younger children but Ryan being 11 had no problems or worries in also using the products and especially liked the hair and body wash.

The products cost £4.95 per bottle each or gift packs can also be purchased for £10.00.

Dominican Hair Care

Published June 12, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Its weekend once again, meaning no kids and I’m free to go party the night away. It’s also my birthday on Monday giving me another reason to go let my hair down.

But my hair isn’t always in the best condition, constantly exposed to some sort of hear source, be it the sun or straighteners and I frequently dye my roots, have foils and all the other stuff which is not so good for my hair.

So I came across a place called Dominican Hair Care and I was rather intrigued as I visited the Dominican Republic myself a few years ago. One thing I remember is that natural products are everywhere with many Dominican families growing everything they need, and of course the beautiful well kept locks which Dominican woman own.

Dominican Hair Care sells many hair products which are made with natural ingredients sources direct from the Dominican Republic. Each product is different and designed to bring out the best for each individual’s hair.

I was unsure which product would work best for my hair, so I told them my hair condition and was sent an intensive hair treatment from the Silicon Mix range. The Silicon products contain a combination of superb ingredients which also includes Keratin. Any beauty addict will be well aware that keratin is a much needed product for the hair which can help repair and smooth heat damaged strands.

The hair treatment comes in 4 sizes of pots. It’s best applied after washing and towel drying hair, so probably best to use normal shampoo and conditioner first and then apply.

It looks like a shiny cream and more like a moisturiser than something to apply to the hair. The scent reminds me of a sweet soap too.

I applied and left on for 5 minutes. It gives pretty instant results as when I washed it off, my hair immediately felt a lot smoothie and more manageable than it normally would. The results were even more apparent during blow drying and straightening, I could just feel my hair becoming lovely and soft as I was styling.

The product has made my hair lovely, soft, manageable and given it a nice shine too. There seems to be less frizz than what I would normally get and my hair smells really good too.

Almost ready for the birthday celebrations.

Best Beauty Gifts – Cloud Nine Wide Iron Gift Set

Published December 17, 2014 by Bizzimummy

I have been in dire need of some new hair straighteners for some time now. My old pair were making my hair very dry and I was constantly finding bits of my hair snapped off everywhere. Cloud Nine are certainly an upmarket brand of hair styling products and their straighteners have been top of my Christmas and birthday lists for sometime. Unfortunately Santa nor the birthday fairy never bought me them.., well until now that is! When my lovely courier gave me my Cloud nine package I was literally like a kid jumping for joy. Very very happy. They even arrived in their own special gift bag. It wad like an early Christmas morning.

I think many women would love a pair of Cloud Nines for Christmas!

I could not wait to use my new straighteners. They come as a gift set in a special gift box and with a Limited Edition heatproof stylecase. It's beautifully presented, the gift box is even wrapped with a ribbon. The straighteners can then be used immediately, straight from the box. Instructions are included but they are pretty self explanatory and very easy to use.

I chose the wide iron rather than the original iron as my hair is quite long and when in good normal condition it can also be quite thick. The wide iron plates are designed for longer thicket hair and the type of hair which takes a long time to style and manage. For normal or short hair styles the original iron does just as good a job.

There are 7 temperature controls to choose from. The control is located inside the plates. I did worry, “would there be a risk of catching my fingers?” But no it's carefully located away from the plates. The temperature is adjusted by two switches – hi and low. I tend to keep mine between the 150 and 200 marks.

They heat up very very quickly. As soon as I plug them in I can feel the heat instantly. Literally seconds and they are very hot so obviously I only have them on when none of my children are around, either night time or in the day if Izebella sleeps.

The Cloud Nines come with some fairly clever technology by way if a MICOM controlled heating system. The irons adjust the temperature themselves according the the thermal sensor. This allows for a totally even temperature across the whole ceramic surface,

As I have my hair coloured frequently it means I have to take care what I use on my hair or otherwise lol end up with a frizzy mess with split ends and hair breakage. My old straighteners caused more damage than good so I was eager to test and see how the renowned top brand lives up.

What Cloud Nine claim to do!

Unlike other cheaper models, the Cloud Nines have an ultra smooth infused ceramic surface which allows users to achieve incredible style results at lower temperatures. The floating plates cushion the impact and minimise dragging and pinching.

And The Verdict! Yes I can most defiantly see and feel the difference using these. They literally glided through my hair very smoothly and no pulling what so ever. I only needed 2 strokes on each section and my hair was more or less poker straight. I do use a little heat protection spray (Cloud nine state on their video that this is not always necessary with their plates) but unlike other irons there is no sizzling noise and my hair does not fry. I am so impressed with just how fast they get my hair straight. It means I can get up in the mornings ten minutes before my children do and give it a quick straighten. Previously it would take 30 minutes or longer to achieve the same results. I have noticed much much less breakage. There has been literally no broken strands on my carpet so it's fair to say that they do what they say on the box.

After bathing or being out in the rain, my hair goes very curly and frizzy. Sometimes I resemble a scarecrow if not styled. Just look at this mess.

And just a few minutes of sectioning and using the Cloud Nines and my hair is like this and perfect for a night on the town. My hair is straight and also much shinier thanks to the plates. It feels and looks much better since I strated using the Cloud Nine Wide Iron.

A protective guard is included in the gift set. This fits over the end of the irons which then prevents them from being opened and thus protecting surfaces and carpets. It also protects the irons from anything sticking to the surface. I put the guard on straight after use and inbetween use if I have to pause styling for any reason. Also included is a Heatproof style case. This looks just like a small make up case or wash bag. It's made from heat proof material and means the irons can be placed straight inside once unplugged

As well as straightening hair, these irons can also be used for curling, flicking and waving using various techniques. It's always best to section the hair first using clips and obviously make sure hair is completely dry before using or there is a risk of damaging both the hair and the irons. Cloud Nine have a useful video on the best way to use the irons here.
http://youtu.be/3PvlvcQ6c28

I am very happy with my new hair straighteners and I will never go back to using any other brand but these. Yes they do come at a higher price than many. The wide iron gift set comes at a price of £129.95 but I think it may save a few trips to the salon to get split dead ends cut off and of course save my locks from being cut short. I think as long as they last a good few years then it's worth the investment to have better looking hair and the fact that they work so fast is an absolute bonus. The high price would be my only negative but it's by far the best straightener I have ever used.

All Cloud Nine products can be purchased from their website and also from selected hair salons. Free delivery with the above product.

A great Christmas gift for all the ladies out there.

Good Bubble

Published November 11, 2014 by Bizzimummy

About Good Bubble

Good Bubble make natural and fun bath stuff to get you squeaky clean and open you and your family up to some new discoveries too. From the superfruits that take pride of place in their bottles, to their journey from far away lands and the way it’s all put together at a family business in the heart of England. They bring you gorgeous, gentle formulations that truly nourish your hair and skin. Rich in nutrients, free from harsh chemicals and kind to the planet. Made with only the best intentions. No tears. No nasties.

I was really happy to be sent over some Good Bubble products got my children to try out. We all enjoy trying out new bath products and toiletries and were getting a little tired of the same brands found in shops. My children have 3 of the Good Bubble products.

Super bubbly Bubble bath, Smooth Softly Conditioner and Clean as a bear shampoo.

The good bubble products come in two super fruit variants, both of which smell fantastic and gave my bathroom a lovely aroma. There is dragon fruit and cloudberry. Dragon fruit is something I enjoy eating when I can get one but I have never heard of a cloudberry and actual even googled it to see if it was a real fruit. It is, it looks a little like a raspberry so I may just have to look out for it next time I shop for fruit.

The bubble bath gave lots of lovely bubbles. I only had to use a very small amount and the bath was filled with bubbly goodness. Ryan is too old for bubble baths now and prefers showers but Jordanna and Izebella love their bubble baths and also both enjoy sharing a bath together. (More fun and more mess!).

The shampoo had a delicious smell and was very foamy on thr hair. It is also gentle on the eyes, being pretty much tear free. No eye sting and no frustration. The products are all formulated with little ones in mind.

Just look at her crazy bath hair!

I was very happy to see a stand alone conditioner product for children. I do find that kids conditioners can be hard to come by and it's usually a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner product which is just no good for long curly hair. Again this conditioner smelt great. It seem to be a good conditioning product too which left my girls hair soft and manageable afterwards.

All Good Bubble products are Vegan society registered making them suitable for almost anyone. They contain special moisturising properties to nourish young hair and skin.

The products can be purchased directly from the Good Bubble Shop and start from £3.69 per product.

Shampooheads

Published May 30, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Shampooheads is a family run business run by the Bell family.
I actually remember the product appearing on Dragons Den back in 2012.
They create a sell a very successful range of kids hair care products. The products are designed for children with an aim to make the child more aware of personal hygiene and hair care.
The 3 characters which appear on the product bottles are Annie, Rosie and Robert. The characters share the same names as the family children whom they are based on.

20140529-183605-66965274.jpg
My 3 kids have happily been trying out a selection of the Shampooheads products.

Busy Bob bubble bath makes lots of fun safe bubbles. It gives our bathroom a lovely fruity blueberry aroma and it’s tear free so we don’t have to worry about sore eyes. The bubbles are also kinder to skin being hypoallergenic.

20140529-184144-67304225.jpg

To get us really clean and smelling gorgeous without too much fuss, we have very handy 3-in 1 bottles. These special bottles contain shampoo, conditioner and body wash all in one.
They come in the 3 awesome character flavours too. Busy Bob, Awesome Annie and Raging Rosie. As Busy Bob is a blue bottle, Ryan has claimed this for him self. The bottles are great for washing both hair and body. Little girls may require a little extra conditioning on their locks afterwards.

20140529-184729-67649376.jpg

Shampoo heads also come in seperate shampoo and conditioner bottles too.
All the lovely products along with the very low prices can be found here .

Once the hair and body and washed and smelling nice and fruity clean. It’s time for brushing and styling. For long locks there is Awesome Annie detangler.

20140529-185059-67859622.jpg
With a few little squirts this will detangle and smooth out unruly knots.

20140529-185142-67902417.jpg
The spray is kind to hair as it contains vitamin B5. It is paraben free and has a lovely tropical scent. Here is Izebellas hair before and after using the spray.

20140529-185343-68023074.jpg
It even works on grown up hair too and leaves hair soft and manageable.
It has a built in heat protection so would be good for older girls who use hair dryers or straighteners.

For the boys is Busy Bob Crazy hair gel>
. This gel gives boys the cool dude wet look. It holds those cool styles in strongly whilst remaining easy enough to wash out. Ryan loves styling his hair and often asks me to buy him gel so this came in very useful.

20140529-185742-68262261.jpg
I think the Busy Bob character even looks a little like Ryan.

20140529-185853-68333406.jpg

All of the ShampooHeads products and more, are available to purchase directly from the Shampooheads on line shop. Many of the products will also be on sale in Waitrose from this month.

Faith in Nature

Published January 31, 2014 by Bizzimummy

20140125-143509.jpg
Isn’t it a nice feeling when kids are in bed and you manage to get some peace to go and have a nice relaxing lovely bath full of bubbles and soothing aromas. I love trying out and using different bath products and experiencing different smells and and scents.
Faith in Nature was founded over 30 years ago by Rivka Rose and they produce a vast range of lovely products for bath, skin and hair. The products are made from naturally derived sources and free from things such as synthetic additives. They have a lot of products to choose from and kindly agreed to send me something to try. The products come in so many varieties, with many different blends and scents such as coconut , raspberry & cranberry, aloe Vera and many more but there was one distinct one that really stood out for me and I knew I just had to give it a go. Chocolate

20140125-144443.jpg
The thought of using chocolate products in a bath doesn’t really sound right and I was very intrigued as to what these products would be like.
The first thing to use was the Chocolate bath & shower gel

20140125-144719.jpg
This chocolate delight contains beneficial aromatherapy oils to help nourish skin.
The smell of this bath & shower gel reminds me of cocoa powder or thd smell of drinking chocolate. It’s very nice and very warming and relaxing. The liquid comes out a light brown colour like liquid chocolate but dissolves in water and produces lots of lovely bubbles.

20140125-151447.jpg
The product is both a bubble bath and bath/shower wash. I love relaxing in my bath of bubbles surrounded by warm chocolate aromas.
Once washed I was then ready to give my locks some chocolate therapy too.

20140125-151738.jpg
First on was the Chocolate Shampoo. It contains a luxury blend of Organic chocolate and sage and again lovely chocolate aromas flow around the bathroom helping me to relax. It lathers in my hair very well and helps give extra shine to my hair.
Then the Chocolate conditioner which contains organic chocolate with vanilla and infusions of sage. This smelt very creamy and chocolaty and was very smooth on my hair.

20140125-152551.jpg
Even when I washed the products out of my hair and came out of the bath I could still smell the Cocoa aromas. I’m not saying I smelt like a chocolate bar but more a very warm luxury smell. My skin smelt lovely and washed and my hair was left soft. Just what a tired mummy needs at the end of a busy day.
The shampoos and conditioners come in many other varieties just incase chocolate aroma aren’t your thing and cost £5.35 per 400ml bottle. Larger bottles are also available and the bath & shower gel is £5.45 per bottle.
Please check back soon for more product reviews from the Faith in Nature ranges.
