Hubner Silicea capsules

Published December 13, 2017 by Bizzimummy

“Hubner´s Silicea capsules contain the trace element of pure natural silica. It works to support connective tissue, strengthening hair, skin and nails from the inside out. Silica occurs naturally in our bodies. It is best absorbed in the colloidal form.”

Silicon is a natural element that is found everywhere in nature. After the age of 20 the body begins to lose the ability to store silicon.

These supplement capsules contain the correct amounts of Silicon plus other ingredients to aid the growth of hair, skin and nails.

It is recommended to take one capsule per day in between meals with water. I have been taking the capsules myself for a few weeks now and the main place where I have seen improvement is my nails, they seem to be growing much faster than before as is my hair, which usually doesn’t seem to grow past a certain length.

A months supply of 30 capsules can be purchased from Healthy 2 U for £13.95.

Gifts for Girls: Piggy

Published November 21, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Most little girls long to be like their mummies with make up, nail polish and hair products. When I was a little girl, products like this were strictly just for adults and bigger girls, there were no kids safe nail polish and I don’t recall any hair products just for little girls. Either these products did not exist, or they were too expensive or my parents just did not want to buy them. I’m thinking the first is correct and they just didn’t exist back in the early 1980s.

Well fast forward 30 or so years and they certainly exist now and don’t I know it with having little girls myself. Girls who want the make up and nail polish and great locks even at a very young age. Now I get the whole media debates about allowing young girls to wear make up and nail polish and the arguments against it, but the way I see it, is if they are at home and want their nails doing then what’s the harm? And I’d rather buy and use the child friendly safe stuff then have them sneaking in my room and using my “not so safe” products.

Piggy Paint sells both kid friendly nail polish and have their own hair care product line called Rock the Locks.

The Piggy Paint nail polish comes in so many wonderful bright colours. It’s non toxic with almost no odour. It’s a water based formula but unlike a few other kid polishes we have used, this one doesn’t peel off or wash off straight away with water.

Each bottle of nail polish costs £7.99 and they each have really funky cute names such as Brand Spank’n blue and Angel Kiss.

As well as the coloured nail polish there is even a shine top coat, basecoat & sealer and nail polish remover which also cost £7.99 each. The nail polish remove smells a little similar to the stuff I usually use but it’s free of acetone and the odour not quite as strong.

Rock the Locks is all about the hair. The products include – Shampoo & Conditioner, detangler, curl boost, textured paste, hair spray and a style gel. These products are all individually priced and again made without any harsh chemicals or nasties.

We have the curl boost costing £9.99. This acts as both a detangler and curl enhancer. Both my girls have very curly hair. Jordanna’s also being extremely thick and bushy too. Without products like this, doing their hairs in the mornings gets very stressful and sometimes with a few tears whilst trying to detangle as gently as possible. These products really help to make hair brushing much easier and enjoyable for us all.

Curl boost helps the curls to relax, so the hair looks less scraggly if that makes sense.

Piggy Paint products make perfect stocking fillers for mini princesses who love to be pampered.

Christmas pamper gift guide for her

Published November 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Us ladies love our beauty and pamper gifts don’t we? Anything that smells great, and makes us feel great using it always makes a much wanted Christmas gift no matter how big or small.

I am including a few of my favourite pamper type gifts today. I would be very happy if I found these in my stocking on Christmas morning.

1) Heathcote & IvoryWhether its bath treats or hand and body care, Heathcote & Ivory have so many wonderful gifts to choose from for the special ladies in your life.

Like this hand cream trio enriched with natural soothing extracts, just what hard working mums need at the end of Christmas Day.

Or for relaxing in a hot bath on Christmas night, surrounded by fragranced flower petals perhaps? These look just like real flower petals. They dissolve in a hot bath, and make it a little like an oriental experience.

2) Niveaare certainly a well known brand no matter what time of the year. They are possibly best known for soothing skin creams but their Christmas gifts make lovely inexpensive surprises.

This heart shaped perfect skin gift tin can be purchased in Boots and Tesco stores for around £7.50.

Inside there are three products –

NIVEA Indulgent Moisture Rode Shower Cream 250ml

NIVEA Rose & Argan Oil in Lotion 200ml

NIVEA Soft Rose Caring Lip Balm 4.8g

And of course the tin itself is completely reusable and good for keeping small bits of make up inside.

Also fromNivea Uk; and just for the lips, as no one likes chapped lips at this time of year. It’s a lip butter duo.
And in a very festive elf package, a perfect stocking filller for small or big girls.

3) For the Little ladies – Daniel Galvin!

I thought I’d give this a mention for Christmas as they do make nice extra stocking fillers for little ladies.

It’s a new product from the Daniel Galvin “dubble trubble” product line. It doubles up as both a shampoo and body wash. Being cherry bomb means it smells delicious and my girls love it.

4) St Morizbecause no one likes to look pale and pasty around Christmas time and not got the Xmas snaps. Everyone longs for a winter tan, but sadly that’s impossible here in the “not so sunny” UK.

This is one of my favourite self tan products from St Moriz. It’s the velvet finish gel. It goes on white and within  a few hours it leaves a lovely steak free velvet finish all over tan. Addd this one to a home made beauty hamper.

5) Crabtree & EvelynRelax and unwind with gifts from Crabtree & Evelyn bath +body gifts. They are big on luxury fragrances such as their rosewater & Peppercorn items. Containing natural products and real essential oils, your gift recipient will no doubt smell the lovely aroma before they open their gift on Christmas morning. Choose from soaps, lotions, creams and bathing products.

6) Yankee – There is only one thing that Yankee is famous for and that’s its selection of beautiful scented candles, just like this one. So many sizes, styles and fragrances to choose from, a Yankee candle is sure to bring delight to any lady and her home.

So whatever you buy that special lady this Christmas, make it a special one!

Back to School: Tangle Angel

Published August 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

School mornings can be so damn stressful can’t they? The rush of getting washed, ready, fed and out. The shouts, the frustration etc. And for girls with long thick locks – the dreaded morning hair brushing.

Hair that’s just been slept in, full of knots and tangles which are worse if they had a bath the night before. Having your hair pulled and tied up first thing is not a great experience at all.

Special little princesses need special brushes to brush their long locks, brushes that will easily get through any tangles without too much pain. They need a brush that even the angels would use. They need a Tangle Cherub by Tangle Angel.

The tangle cherub is smaller than the regular tangle angel brush and comes with the famous well known angel wings design in a choice of pretty princess colours.

Tangle Angel brushes are specially designed to easily glide through even the most tangled hair with ease. Tangled cherub are made even gentler and even have antibacterial additives embedded into the plastic making the brush very hygenic.

This brush can easily get through both wet and dry hair, even hair that’s been freshly washed or just out of the pool. They are also heat resistant to be used with hair dryers.

Izebella usually cries, shouts and moans when using other brushes but she doesn’t seem to mind using the Tangle cherub brush on her long locks.

Buy the Tangle  cherub from Tangle Angel and various stores for £9.95 and make school mornings a little less stressful.

For those extra pretty touches – Rock & Ruddle

Published August 9, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Us ladies, and the little ladies all love our quirky little beauty items, especially those items which are just a little more unique than others. We all need a good hair brush too, no matter if our hair is long, short, fine or thick, a hair brush that will brush through knots and tangles and that will last a while.

Up until now, my two girls have pretty much just shared my collection of hair brushes. This isn’t a huge issue but they do tend to misplace them and even fight over who’s using which one. Well now they each have their own pretty little brush.

These brushes from Rock and Ruddle really are unique and pretty. When I was a little girl, we did have a few picturesque brushes around with all sorts of girly images on, but these days they seem to be hard to find.

Rock and Ruddle have lots of unique colourful brushes, many with pictures on which come in sizes for both big and little ladies (and men if need be). The brushes are made using natural bristles with three bristle types to choose from. The soft bristle brushes are ideal for babies, the natural without nylon more suited to children and the bristles with nylon for thicker hair.

I really love these small character brushes. They feel really sturdy and solid and the size and shape of them make them easier for my girls to grip, they both like brushing their own hair (and mine!) Jordanna now has the ballerina brush and Izebella has the fairy brush.

Izebella has curly but fine/medium hair so I knew the brush would be fine for her. Jordanna has long curly and extremely thick hair which gets tangled often and is sometimes wirey. I was unsure whether the brush would go through her hair; as some small brushes don’t, but it goes through without problems, wet or dry.

And of course they are so incredibly cute too. It makes me want one for myself. It may just be me borrowing their brushes in future.

The small brushes cost £20 each and a larger (big girl) brush is £30.

To see more brush styles; visit Rock and Ruddle online shop, where the brushes can be purchased directly.

Envy Professional hair care

Published August 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I put my hair through a lot, and have done so for many years. It’s been bleached, coloured, highlighted, low-lighted, permed, blow dried, straightened and had extensions in. So when it comes to products for my hair, I don’t mind paying that little bit extra for a product that claims to help repair damage and give it an overall better condition.

Envy products are used by hairdressers as well as being sold to people like myself who want the best for their hair. Salon products can sometimes be hard to find without buying them in the actual salon after having your hair done.

They are recognisable by distinct black and green containers just like this.

Envy hair products contain silk proteins which help to moisturise, smooth and gloss hair. And Keratin which puts balance and moisturiser back into the hair. I have found that the majority of “better” hair products do contain keratin (the ones that actually work).

I have been regularly using three Envy products.

  • Gentle cleansing shampoo
  • Dual fix 12
  • Gentle detangling conditioner

These products smell absolutely amazing. I can’t be too sure exactly what the lovely scent is, but it smells sweet and fruity, possibly mango but it’s really lovely. I was really surprised at just how nice they are.

The shampoo gets applied the same as any other. I usually leave on for about 5 minutes max.

The Dual fix 12 is a totally new product to me. It’s like an inbetween treatment; after shampoo but before conditioner. This comes out like a mousse and gets left on for one minute. This is the main repair product and boasts an amazing 12 benefits for the hair.

  • 1 Amazing shine
  • 2 Helps to repair damage
  • 3 Weightless silk effect
  • 4 Easier detangling
  • 5 Helps to rehydrate hair
  • 6 Improves styling and blow dry results
  • 7 Thicker, fuller feel
  • 8 Helps Reduce Frizz
  • 9 Rejuvenates tired colour
  • 10 Hair feels stronger
  • 11 Reduces the appearance of split ends
  • 12 Lasts for weeks

This product can also be used as a more intense treatment on dry hair. Full instructions on the back of the bottle.

The Conditioner is a lovely thick lush cream. Even whilst wet I could feel my hair becoming smoother, detangled and overall easier to manage.

And after a quick blow dry, my hair feels lovely, soft, detangled, manageable and refreshed. It even seems to be growing a little better too.

As these are professional hair products which are used in salons, it does mean they cost slightly more than what someone would pay for a regular shampoo or conditioner from shops. The shampoo and conditioner both costing £14.95 each and the Dual fix slightly more at £19.95. In my personal opinion I do think it’s worth paying that bit extra to help bring my hair up to better condition and these products seem to really be helping. I would be happy to purchase more as and when I need them.

Other Envy products are also available at Envy Pro.

Lee Stafford hair growth

Published June 28, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I first spotted these products whilst shopping in Boots and whilst I was very eager to try them, I was also optimistic at what they claim they can do for the hair.

My hair, probably through colouring, heat styling and extensions goes through awkward stages where it simply will not grow past a certain length. Yes I have regular trims but then it’s shorter and still won’t get past a certain length. Well that was until I used these products.

This is me at the beginning of May! Not my best photo but it shows the length and condition of my hair.

Not great at all!

Then I got sent over a selection of Lee Stafford growth products to use.

Scalp scrub – A pre-wash treatment which is applied before shampoo. The scrub works to gently stimulate the scalp, increasing root productivity and accelerating natural hair growth.

It is a unique treatment that  unblocks the hair follicles and removes product build up and pollution.

It feels very grainy, just like a bath or salt scrub and it’s best to apply as close to the scalp as possible, rinse and then crack on with the shampoo.

Shampoo & conditioner – Hair Growth shampoo works by stimulating the metabolic activity of the hair bulb cells, and encouraging blood flow to the root, thus helping to stimulate growth.

The conditioner is thick and creamy and k, works by nourishing the scalp to provide the perfect base from which healthy hair can grow.

Both the shampoo and conditioner contain apple and lemon extracts with green tea.

Hair growth treatment – This a lovely thick creamy product in a round tub, it has a look and feel of creamy yoghurt.

This treatment  fertilises the hair follicles whilst going deep down into the cortex to condition and strengthen from within. It provides moisturise to the the scalp and soothes irritations.

This product is best used in between shampoo and conditioning or even with conditioner.

A good trick I have found to increase hair thickness as well as length is to apply a small amount after conditioning, when hair is still wet but not dripping and leave to dry  in the hair. I find this makes my hair feel much thicker than normal and also more manageable.

And the results, after about six weeks of use! Judge for yourselves.

Something in the products is definitely without a doubt doing some sort of magic on my hair. I have not used any other hair wash products other than the Lee Stafford.

These products probably cost more than regular everyday hair wash products but they are not overly expensive and they certainly work. Boots currently have a 3 for 2 offer for the Lee Stafford hair growth range which I will be taking advantage of because I need some more.

Beauty treats for me: Creightons Argan smooth

Published April 6, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Today it’s all about the hair and hair care. The brand is Creightons who own a good selection of popular high street beauty products. One of their latest ranges is the Argan smooth.

Argan oil has become a very well known miracle ingredient in health and beauty and especially so in hair care products. The antioxidants contained in Argan oil can help work wonders on all hair types, adding shine and nourishment to even the driest of locks.

I have tried out five of the new Argan smooth range. The shampoo, conditioner, heat defence spray deep conditioning masque and thd miracle hair oil.

I love the shiny blue/silver packaging which glimmers with light. I think it’s worthwhile having a few of these products together as they can all be used one after another, starting with the shampoo, conditioner, deep masque, heat defence spray and finishing a style with the miracle oil. It’s like a complete twice weekly hair care routine, I do only wash my hair twice a week as it requires heat styling due to a natural wave/curl and a bit of frizziness due to colouring so the less heat on it, the better.

Using products has made my locks more manageable and the best thing overall is the price of the products – mega cheap. All costing between £1.99-£2.99 each. All of these products together comes to less than £15.00 which is really surprising compared to other brands.

These products have recently been introduced into supermarkets too, as well as being available to buy online on the Creightons website.

And my hair after using these products for two weeeks.

Beauty treats for me: Marula

Published April 5, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Today’s selection of pamper treats come from Marula UK. Marula is not just the company name but also the main ingredient contained in all their products – Marula oil. Marula oil comes from the Marula fruit which is grown in Africa and harvested mainly by African women. The nuts get hand cracked and the purest kernels cold pressed to release the Marula “natural” oils.

Marula oil is known to contain many antioxidants and omega acids. The benefits include hydration, rejuvenation, and anti aging. As well as a daily facial treatment the Marula oil can even be used as a make up primer, and help with distressed skin and sunburn.

This is the Pure Marula facial oil. There are other facial and skin products available including the lotions and a cleanser but this is the pure oil. It can be used alone or mixed with usual moisturizers of face creams.

The bottle itself is really appealing, dark and mysterious and leaves one wondering what’s inside. It’s a glass bottle with a pippette dropper applicator and just the sort of product you would expect to find in a high end store.

I tend to use the oil, with or after applying moisturizer. It seems good stuff so far, smooths on nicely and is non greasy. It does cost £37.50 but only a tiny amount is required due to it being an oil type product.

As well as skin products, Marula oil is also used in hair products just like this one.

As well as containing marula oil the deep moisture hair mask also contains keratin, wheat protein and pro vitamin b5 all which help to condition, smooth, moisturise and lock in colour.

It’s a lovely product to use after the regular shampoo and condition. It helps to make my hair less dry and frizzy. After rinsing it off I will apply a tiny bit more to my hair and leave this on to dry. My hair certainly feels more manageable after using this product.

The deep hair conditioning mask costs £24.00. I can’t be sure how many uses I’ll get from this one product and although good I do feel it is fairly pricey.

Vosene kids: New troll-tactic makeover

Published November 24, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Vosene kids products, which my girls use a lot have been going through a rather exciting makeover to tie in with the launch of the new Dreamworks Trolls movie. From now until February 2017, all kids products will feature the troll characters on the bottles.

This now makes them even more appealing to children. The products inside stay pretty much the same, with a selection of combination shampoos both 2 in 1 and 3 in 1, both of which contain head lice defence products to keep the bugs away. Then why my girls are finished washing they can use the conditioning defence spray for extra protection and detangling there long curly hair.

The new Trolls products are limited edition and on the back of each is a unique scratch off code . This code can be typed into the website (as per instructions on the product) and there is a chance to win one of 40000 mini troll dolls. And guess what? Yes we won one so now Izebella will be excited as Trolls seem to be her latest craze.

Buy Vosene kids troll products from supermarkets, boots, Superdrug and other similar stores.
