Mc2 crayon make up science set

Published August 10, 2017 by Bizzimummy

The Mc2 girls are back with a few cool and funky science sets for their girly fans. This one is a great set for girls who love their make up, and especially so lipstick. It also means they no longer need to pinch Mums!

This set does not come with one of the dolls but is one of the MC2 science sets because that’s what the MC2 girls are all about.

Inside the box is a crayon pallette with a lipstick tray, tubes and the maker which looks like some sort of plastic test tubes with a stand.

Personally I never retaliated just how easy making lipstick could be. All we needed was coconut oil which is very easily purchased in most supermarkets.

To make the lipstick, we use one of the coloured crayon segments with a small amount of coconut oil. This needs melting together until it’s liquified. The instructions say to do this in the oven, but microwaving works too.

Once melted the stuff gets poured into the plastic device.

This sets very very fast so we had to be quick pouring it. It’s also really hot, like candle wax so it is best that an adult does the heating and pouring part.

Then leave the product to set. It’s tempting to think it’s done just because it’s no longer liquid but taking it out too soon can ruin it and make it fall apart.

And this is one of our finished products. A real useable safe lipstick in the tube, just like you would buy from the shop. We can also make lip stick in the palette tray too which gets applied with a lip brush.

The only slight problem for us was thinking that the product was not melting enough and needing more oil. Don’t be tempted to add more oil or the lipstick will just turn to greasy mush or be too greasy to apply. Half a tea spoon is enough. Tho this is totally our fault for trying to be clever.

Sleek Make-Up

Published August 2, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Well I think by now, most of my readers know how much I love my beauty bits and make up. Today I have two products from Sleek Make up. Both of these products can be purchased in stores such as Boots and Superdrug.

My first product is the Distorted Dreams highlighting palette. I have really become quite addicted to the whole new contouring conception and a palette like this one is a much needed item for my make up bag.

Facial contouring is all about enhancing your best bits, usually the cheekbones, slimming the face and tricking the eye by enhancing and adding reflection etc. Contouring and highlighting are best started after applying a base foundation. There is no set way on how to contour and highlight your face, everyone’s facial shape is different and there is lots of information on the internet on which way works best for each facial shape.

This particular highlighting palette contains five individual segments of colour.

These colours being – Anodize, Beam, Sweet delusion, Refraced and Blurred lights. This is a little confusing so I’ll just call them bronze, blush, highlight, blue and green as I’ve no idea which one is which. The colours are also a mix of powders and creams.
My face is like a heart shape, larger forehead and smaller features at the bottom. The first colour I always use in a palette such as this is the bronze colour or brown. Add the blush and then the light highlight colour. This diagram shows pretty much where I’d normally apply these colours with either a make up sponge or a brush.

So by following a picture such as this with the colours, I can easily enhance my cheek bones whilst slimming down my forehead with the bronze colour. The lighter colours of course attract more light on the face. These colours together also act as concealer to hide away imperfections.

Now of course I don’t just apply the make up like this and leave it like that. I’d be walking round like a clown if I did! No the idea is to apply correctly and blend in carefully.

My face shape seems to be more oval after contouring and highlighting but it’s really just a good inexpensive cosmetic trick, and yes it does wonders for those cheekbones too.
Now I haven’t forgot, there are two other colours in this palette, and I’m fairly new to adding other colour shades than the usual three. It may sound a strange idea adding green and purple shades to anywhere but the eyes but again these colours do come in very useful to give the perfect contoured look.
The green shade is good for areas of rosy complexion as it neutralises the skin tone. So if cheeks are too red or patches of redness then a little of the green may help. The purple shades actually help to banish dull and yellow areas, think under eyes!
The five colours work together so well, being a blend of creams and powders together and also really shimmery meaning the light will reflect all the right places on the face.
It’s like having five products in one and only costs £10.99. It even comes with a handy mirror too.

And for my lips I have this Matte Me Metallic lip cream.

This one costs just £4.99 and available in 3 luminous shades. It gives a metallic foil like finish. This colour is Rusted Rose. It goes on like a deep lilac colour which I find very pretty. In fact it just happens to be a similar shade to some interior paint I recently bought.

I’m wearing this lip cream in the top photograph above too, it seems to work really well with the palette too.
I think this make up is amazingly priced and great quality too.

Joan Collins Timeless Beautyy

Published August 2, 2017 by Bizzimummy

It's hard to believe that the legendary Joan Collins turned 84 this year. Yes we all know she's had surgery to keep her looking younger but she also seems to look after her skin really well and her make up always looks so flawless! I for one can only hope I look half as good at her age.

Well I turned a big 40 myself this year so I'm almost half her age. Despite not looking my age (luckily) I have noticed the slight signs of ageing . Mainly the lines on my forehead, eye bags and the odd few other creases here and there. So these ageing signs need improvement or covering up and obviously due to cost, surgery is not a viable option so it's all down to the products.

It just so happens that the lovely Joan Collins has her own beauty range known as Timeless beauty. Her products are suitable for women of any age but the majority seem designed for women over 30 and especially so the foundation or base products.

This is the Joan Collins First Base Foundation. It costs £25.00 and is a standard 30ml size glass bottle. You get a choice of 8 shades and it can be purchased from a fair few stores including Marks and Spencer's.

The shade I have is Warm Fair which I'm happy to say, more or less matches my skin tone.

As stated on the box, this is a "First Base" product which means it is applied first to clean skin before other make up products such as blusher, bronzer etc. This foundation gives the smooth flawless complexion, thus almost creating a blank canvas to work from. It gives the perfect colour coverage blending easily with my skin tone and covering up any imperfections – small spots, scars, blackheads, uneven times etc.

I took this selfiw pic after applying just the First Base foundation and nothing else with no filter. My skin looks even coloured and pretty flawless. Once applied other make up can be added.

This foundation also contains something called Re-Age complex, which is known to increase collagen levels helping to recharge the skin with youthful energy.

My Pure: #June: Evolve & Ecotools

Published June 8, 2016 by Bizzimummy

This month’s two products from My Pure are from brands Evolve and Ecotools.

                     Evolve

My first product is very much focused on hair and is just the thing I needed for the recent very hot weather we have been having.

This product looks like something straight out of a chemistry lab but it’s actually the Evolve nourishing hair elixir.

I have used some other products from the Evolve brand previously, their packaging is fairly basic yet mysterious. Brown pots and bottles with white labels, similar to a chemists. It sort of makes me want to open them even more just to see what’s inside.

And inside this bottle is a good quality weightless hair serum which combines three key ingredients to help moisturise and protect the hair. Moroccan Organic Argan oil, mixed with Organic Baobab oil and Tahitian Monoi is a winning formula for controlling frizz and taming fly-away hair. Rich in anti-oxidants, it protects hair from environmental damages and helps regain lost moisture.More information about the 3 ingredients can be found on the product page

The product comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator. The serum is colourless and I use a few drops of this maybe 3 times a week or whenever my hair is feeling a little dry or frizzy. I always use after washing and straightening too.

It does add softness back to my hair, it is not at all greasy when on and smells quite pleasant too. I also use a small amount on my 8 year old daughters hair too as her hair is extremely curly and thick, this product helps towards making it smoother and more manageable.

Being from My Pure does of course mean that it’s made from 100% natural ingredients.

The price is £16.00 for a 30ml bottle which is fairly small. The dropper helps to control the amount used so I don’t end up pouring too much out. A little bit seems to go a long way with this product.

                       Ecotools

Make up brushes are not something I buy often or have many of so I was really happy to get this set.

It is a 6 piece set which includes 5 make up brushes and a hemp and cotton case to store them all in. The brushes include Blush Brush, Eye Shading Brush, Angled Eyeliner Brush, Concealer Brush and a  Lash & Brow Groomer.

If you are confused on which brush is used for what, then there is lots of useful information online for this. There is also a little card which comes with the brushes giving a brief description for each one.

The brushes are lightweight and seem to be strong and sturdy which I need as my girls tend to play with my make up and accessories. The brushes are all really soft and each one with a bamboo handle. The blush brush is just lovely and evenly spreads blusher across the cheeks.

This included case is a nice added bonus. It means the brushes can all be kept together and lots of room left to keep any I already own.

Not a bad price at all for just £14.99. To buy each brush on its own would probably cost a lot more.

All the brushes and the case are again all made from natural materials.

My pure website

My pure #May (Alva & Trilogy)

Published May 17, 2016 by Bizzimummy

It’s almost Summer and we are certainly having some lovely warm summer weather recently which for me means it’s time for some bronzing. I hate my pale skin, as I do not tan so easily and I don’t use sunbeds it means only one thing and that’s faking it.

I was quite surprised to find fake tan products at My Pure as they only sell organic products made from natural ingredients.

HThis is the instant bronzing gel from the Trilogy brand. I am more used to using bronzing mouse rather than gels or creams but at a price of just £12.50 I thought I would give it a go.

There is a full list of ingredients on the product page. Unfortunately I do not know what most of them are so no point me typing them out here. This gel also contains light reflecting mineral mica which again I had no clue what it was until I applied the product.

It doesn’t look great when you squeeze it out of the tube, almost like a dollop of somethng else, there is a slight familiar fake tan aroma too but not too overpowering.

Don’t worry I do use a tan mitt rather than my hand, nothing worse than golden palms. The product goes on really easily, blends in well. It dries quite quickly within a minute or two but it did leave me feeling a little sticky for a few extra minutes, tho dry if that makes sense.

The results are pretty instant, but like most tanning products the best result comes a few hours later or the next day.

I can honestly say that there was not a single steak or bad patch after using this product and I use it all over my body. The light reflecting mineral mica particles become evident once applied. It gives a sort of glimmer in the sun, almost like skin glitter tho no where near as tacky. Imagine bronzed sparkling skin on a tropical beach and that’s the sort of look that this gives. This here is a picture of my lower arm and if you look closely enough you may see the particles.
This is one product that I will want to buy again.
To complete the bronzed summer look, My Pure boast a selection of Bronzing powders and blushers. The one I chose is the Alva organic bronzing powder.

Now this does not come so cheap at £17.85 for a 9gm case. Therefore I was expecting something fairly good if I was to pay this much. There are 3 shade choices with this and I went for the middle one – beige medium.

It comes with the white sponge tho I do think a nice idea would of been to include a little mirror with the case. Anyway this stuff is great for contouring, blusher and to add to the overall bronzed look. I really like the colour, it’s not too dark and has hints of both beige and pink together which perfectly match my tone. There is lots of info on the internet about how to best apply bronzers and blusher and it’s all about face shape and natural skin tone. Not much of this powder is needed so it should last a good few weeks at least.

And the finished bronzed look! (With a sleepy Izebella)

My Pure #March – Lavera mousse make up

Published March 21, 2016 by Bizzimummy

I do love the My Pure products that I have been testing out these past few months. This month I am at it again and testing out more make up.

Both of these pots form part of the Lavera brand. One being a mousse foundation and the other a cream highlighter which is not something I have really used before.

The mousse make up comes in 3 shades – Ivory, honey and almond. I have the middle shade honey. It’s a 15ml pot which seems to go a long way. It has a lovely soufflé appeal to it. It’s really light and not at all thick or clumpy just like a real facial mousse.

As its a mousse it’s easy enough to apply with fingers or a sponge or one of the brushes which My Pure also sell. It does of course go on really easy and almost  glides onto the face. The coverage is even. The honey shade is fairly light in this instance, although I do like it and it does match my tone, I would of had no problems using the darker shade of almond either. This is a product which I would be happy to use every day and it is the sort of foundation I like to buy and use as opposed to the liquid or powder types as its so much easier.

This natural mousse make up costs £12.90 which I think is a reasonable price to pay for this product. I only need a very minuscule amount at any one time so it will last a good few weeks.
Next the soft glow highlighter. I am used to powder highlighters and the stick type so a cream highlighter was a nice surprise to use. These come in 2 shades – golden shine and shining pearl. I chose the lighter shining pearl shade.

It’s a light pink colour so therefore works well with my English Rose type skin shade. Just like the Lavera mouse foundation as above, it’s a similar light consistency and glides on with ease.

I use highlights to highlight and enhance my cheekbones and eyes and help with the overall facial contouring look.

The highlighter costs £9.50 and both the above products work really well together.

Here is a quick before and after shot to show how these combined products enhance and even change facial features.

Yes my cute daughter always jumps in but I can definitely see this difference after the products applied.

Products from My Pure are all made using only natural ingredients.

My Pure #February – eye liner & brow liner

Published February 23, 2016 by Bizzimummy

It’s all about the eyes!

This month for my “My Pure” post I went for 2 eye make up items.

The Alva Kajal eyeliner comes in 3 shade choices. I chose black. This costs £11.00 which is probably the most  expensive eye liner I havd used to date.

The eyeliner comes at the perfect sharpened point, not too sharp and not blunt so it smudges everywhere.

It goes on easy enough. I always try to do both bottom and top eyelines tho find the top more difficult.

The one thing I find with other eye liner pencils is it just does not last. This is probably down to them being cheaper. This one seems to last a few hours before a re application is needed. The pencil is really long to so will hopefully last a while.

Here is a before and after application of the pencil.

Next for my brows is the Inika brow pencil. This comes in 2 shades, one light and one dark and I went for the darker one.0

My brows are naturally very light so things like this pencil help to enhance them. Colouring brows however can sometimes be hit and miss and takes practice as what it invokes is essentially colouring hair with a pencil. There are various stencils and shapers that can be bought to help get it right and it’s best to choose a shade that is not too dark for the skin colour too.

It’s easy to use the pencil stand alone. Use a mirror and gently go over the brow, making sure you don’t apply too much. The pencil even comes with a sharpener on the lid so no need buy a separate one. This eye brow pencil costs £13.50.

As with all My Pure products. These are made using natural ingredients only.

There is still plenty of time to go and buy those last minute gifts and if there is a special woman in ones life then maybe take a look at these pamper sets.

Style and Grace slipper set!

This beautifully presented set combines luxury white slippers with bathing and pamper products meaning us ladies can have a good old relax in the bath and then step into brand new comfy slippers.

(Style & Grace is the new gift brand from Rainbow Cosmetics; it has been created to bring you beautiful and luxurious collections in on trend designs. Show someone how much you care with a gift from Style & Grace)

Spa Collection set

This is just one of many spa sets from Style & Grace. They all differ with various beauty products and scents. This one contains a very generous 5 products. All of which I will get some use out of. Again it comes with lovely presentation and perfect for any lady or even teenager.

Sunkissed Contour set

This bronze & contour set is from the Sunkissed brand which is also part of Rainbow cosmetics. Sunkissed products are more focuses on bronzing and self tanning and I have used a few of their self tanning mousse products throughout the year. I find the self tan products to be one of the best and least expensive.

Contouring seems to be all the rage this year, with achieving the perfect flawless look. This set comes with the 3 contour pallet for bronzing, blushing and highlighting and a brush.

All of the above sets can be purchased in most gift and beauty stores plus some large supermarkets and on Amazon. I have not included prices as it seems to vary from one place to another but all are fairly inexpensive.

COMPETITION

I have one Style and Grace slipper gift set to give away. The competition will end on Monday 28th December and so therefore not a Christmas competition but may make a nice late gift. Entrants must be UK residents.

My Pure beauty: foundation and hair mask

Published November 9, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Last month I was chosen to be a blogger for My Pure, who sell all sorts of natural beauty items, made with natural ingredients. I was able to choose 2 products and it was quite a tough choice as there is lots to choose from.

I chose two products which I really needed. The first being a foundation. When it comes to foundation I seem to have a problem finding the correct shade. It’s usually either too dark, too pale or some rubbish that makes me look like an orange streaky mess. So I was hoping this one would be different.

The Alva fluid foundation is available in 3 shades and I have medium. It’s £16.00 per tube and as you can see it’s not the biggest tube being only 30ml, therefore fairly expensive. All “My Pure” products contain natural ingredients and thos fountain contains blends of Wellmune, natural vitamin E, red grapevine extract and evening primrose oil.
The first thing I noticed is that it does have a strange sort of musty smell which I have not come across before with other foundations. It’s a little strange and probably down to one of the natural ingredients but it’s not too bad or off putting and once on I can’t smell it.

The product glides on reaally easy and is easy to blend in. I really like the shade and it seems to work really well with my skin tone to give an almost perfect coverage.

Not too dark and no orange tones. It’s a perfect shade and also seems good for skin too leaving it soft and free of imperfections and spots. It’s something I would consider buying.
My second product is also something that was much needed. This one is for my hair and is the Vital 5 hair mask.

It contains blends of wheat and keratin and designed to repair damage and combat dryness which it seems to do. When I opened the lid I was greeted by a lovely thick luscious white cream, almost like a thick meringue and it smelt good too.

It can be used as a weekly or fortnight treatment or more often for badly damaged hair. I use it after the usual shampoo and conditioner and then apply this. It does leave hair more manageable and soft and after a few uses I could certainly feel the benefits of better hair.

This hair mask costs £12.75 but it’s a big 200ml pots so that means lots of uses.

I am very impressed so far with the My Pure products.

Send hearts racing this Valentines, with the new Body Shop Collection

Published February 11, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Valentines day falls on a Saturday this year, meaning it's the perfect night for a night out or a candle lit dinner with that someone special. Just in time for the special day dedicated to lovers, The Body shop has unleashed its powerful, Euphoric scent of Smoky Poppy in a fabulous limited edition new collection of pamper products.

Smoky Poppy brings with it a warm and spicy floriental fragrance which when immersed in the aromas takes you to another place. Each one of the tempting products contains real Poppy seeds along with extract of oil rich Poppy's hand picked from Ankara Turkey.

There are 7 products in this collection in total starting from £4-£14 each and for those who are really stuck for choice, there is also a gift set with 3 products for £17.00.

Shower gel £4.00, Body Butter £5.00, Eau de Toilette £8.50, Bath Bombs £12.00, Body Lotion £8.00, Massage oil £14.00, Body Scrub £13.00.

I have chosen to review the Smoky Poppy bath bombs and the Body scrub

The Bath bombs come in a sturdy tube of 6. Each individual bath bomb is in the shape of a semi circle rather than a full round ball. They do look a little small to begin with and one may be mistaken to think they need more than one in the bath. But appearances can be deceptive and these are very powerful bath bombs indeed. It's almost like magic or a fun chemical reaction. To look at them they just look like regular small bath bombs with fancy black dots on them. These dots are in fact the poppy seeds and when one of these is dropped in water it immediately fizzes and turns a plain old bath into a dreamy milky spa filled with sensual poppy aromas and poppy seeds. The whole bath turned milky white using just one of these and the scent was just amazing. It's a shame I could not get a photograph of one in action but having my phone or camera anywhere near a tub full of water really is not the best idea. Trust me these are lovely.

The one slight drawback is that they do leave the empty bath full of black poppy seeds which seem to get everywhere. A quick couple of blasts of water along with a good clean seems to get rid of them tho.

The Smoky Poppy body scrub adds to the whole Smoky Poppy pamper experience. Again this stuff is infused full of poppy seeds. It's a lovely scrub with exfoliating properties and therefore designed to lift away those dead skin cells. It's perfect for using right before applying any sort of fake tan product. I enjoyed using this along with the bath bombs and was left feeling relaxed and refreshed afterwards. It gives the skin a lovely soft feeling too and I could smell the Smoky Poppy aromas all night long. The Smoky Poppy products leave md smelling like a dreamy goddess, ready for either a night on the tiles or a nice relaxing evening and the perfect nights sleep.

As well as the lovely Smoky Poppy pamper products, The Body Shop has also bought out a collection of lip and cheek velvet sticks. These come in many shades and cost £12.00 each.

One of these really caught my attention and I was very intrigued to see what it was all about. It is the Universal Lip & Cheek velvet stick.

This is a little bit of a mystery as it had no shade name on it, it's simply refereed to as “Universal”. The first thing I noticed about it is that it's a black/grey type colour to begin with and I actually thought that meant my cheeks and lips were about to be turned black, almost like a Halloween type product.

But no of course it doesn't turn my face black. It's a very clever little product which I'm sure most ladies will absolutely love. This actually adapts to the pH of the skin giving each user their own unique poppy shade. In my case the shade is a lovely pink/light purple shade which suits really well. Everyone's will be different. It's a great product.

Using this means I do not have to hunt around and try out different colours to see which suits. It is really unique and I'm still quite baffled to how it actual works.

All of the above mentioned products are now available in Body Shop stores which can usually be found in most high streets and town centres. The products can also be bought online at The Body Shop UK.

I have been a fan of Body Shop products for years. I used to love spending my bits of saved pocket money in the Body Shop sales. The products are made from natural ingredients and are not tested on animals. The price of the products certainly reflects the quality of them and I would be delighted if I was to receive Body shop products for a Valentines gift.
