ST MORIZ tanning mousse

Published February 8, 2018 by Bizzimummy

When living in a country like the UK, it’s very rare we get a good spell of real tanning weather, add to that, being light skinned means it’s incredibly difficult to achieve a real glowing tan. Sun beds come with so many risks, so for me I reach for the tan in the bottle.

There are so many fake tan products out there, so it can be difficult to find the right one. Some of them are very overpriced whilst some cheaper products can leave me looking like an oompah loompah.

St Moriz tanning mousse is available in most stores selling beauty products. It happens to be one of my favourites for both cost and quality.

This 200ml bottle goes a long way and can usually be purchased for about a fiver or even less.

It’s always best to apply any tanning product with a tanning mitt as opposed to just using hands and fingers. St Moriz mousse comes in a choice of shades. The one I’m currently using is the dark shade. This gives a deeper yet natural looking all over tan.

The product comes out a really deep brown colour with a hint of orange but don’t worry as it does not develop this colour. Being a mousse makes it easy to apply to give a real non streak all over coverage. I use it everywhere, starting with my legs and moving upwards. I find my back difficult but even then the are no streaks.

There is no horrible smell with this product and it contains ingredients that help to moisturise the skin.

The tan will develop within 4-6 hours. I apply mine the night before and by morning I’m tanned.

See this and more products over on the St Moriz website.

Christmas pamper gift guide for her

Published November 8, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Us ladies love our beauty and pamper gifts don’t we? Anything that smells great, and makes us feel great using it always makes a much wanted Christmas gift no matter how big or small.

I am including a few of my favourite pamper type gifts today. I would be very happy if I found these in my stocking on Christmas morning.

1) Heathcote & IvoryWhether its bath treats or hand and body care, Heathcote & Ivory have so many wonderful gifts to choose from for the special ladies in your life.

Like this hand cream trio enriched with natural soothing extracts, just what hard working mums need at the end of Christmas Day.

Or for relaxing in a hot bath on Christmas night, surrounded by fragranced flower petals perhaps? These look just like real flower petals. They dissolve in a hot bath, and make it a little like an oriental experience.

2) Niveaare certainly a well known brand no matter what time of the year. They are possibly best known for soothing skin creams but their Christmas gifts make lovely inexpensive surprises.

This heart shaped perfect skin gift tin can be purchased in Boots and Tesco stores for around £7.50.

Inside there are three products –

NIVEA Indulgent Moisture Rode Shower Cream 250ml

NIVEA Rose & Argan Oil in Lotion 200ml

NIVEA Soft Rose Caring Lip Balm 4.8g

And of course the tin itself is completely reusable and good for keeping small bits of make up inside.

Also fromNivea Uk; and just for the lips, as no one likes chapped lips at this time of year. It’s a lip butter duo.
And in a very festive elf package, a perfect stocking filller for small or big girls.

3) For the Little ladies – Daniel Galvin!

I thought I’d give this a mention for Christmas as they do make nice extra stocking fillers for little ladies.

It’s a new product from the Daniel Galvin “dubble trubble” product line. It doubles up as both a shampoo and body wash. Being cherry bomb means it smells delicious and my girls love it.

4) St Morizbecause no one likes to look pale and pasty around Christmas time and not got the Xmas snaps. Everyone longs for a winter tan, but sadly that’s impossible here in the “not so sunny” UK.

This is one of my favourite self tan products from St Moriz. It’s the velvet finish gel. It goes on white and within  a few hours it leaves a lovely steak free velvet finish all over tan. Addd this one to a home made beauty hamper.

5) Crabtree & EvelynRelax and unwind with gifts from Crabtree & Evelyn bath +body gifts. They are big on luxury fragrances such as their rosewater & Peppercorn items. Containing natural products and real essential oils, your gift recipient will no doubt smell the lovely aroma before they open their gift on Christmas morning. Choose from soaps, lotions, creams and bathing products.

6) Yankee – There is only one thing that Yankee is famous for and that’s its selection of beautiful scented candles, just like this one. So many sizes, styles and fragrances to choose from, a Yankee candle is sure to bring delight to any lady and her home.

So whatever you buy that special lady this Christmas, make it a special one!

And more self tanning; St Moriz

Published July 31, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Most of my followers already know just how much I love my self tanning products that I use any season of the year. I love trying out new tanners to see which give the best overall results. Today’s self tanning products come from St Moriz.

Their self tanning mousse is available in shades of dark and medium. As with all tan products, a mitt is required for even application. The mousse comes out a dark brown colour making it easier to see where it’s being applied. It’s a fast drying product with the real results appearing a few hours later. I usually apply at night time after a bath and check the results in the morning, topping up any missed bits if required.

There were the odd few patches and streaks with the mousse but nothing too noticeable and overall it gave a good natural coverage which lasted a few days.

I have also used the St Moriz velvet finish tanning gel. This product is different to the mousse. It comes out white and the colour develops over a few hours. I would say it’s more like a thick cream than a gel and it takes a little bit longer to dry but with minimal stickiness.

I “surprisingly” preferred the results from the gel to the mousse, even tho it was more difficult to see where I was applying it. The results from the gel were literally streak free with no patches.

This gel also doubles up as a make up base.

Both products which I have been using are the darker shades. My skin is fair/medium but I was more than happy to try a darker shade. I found the overall colour from both products was fine and not too dark for me.

Sun protection without the high price tag

Published July 18, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Yes it’s Summer and a pretty good one at that so far, considering the many wet Summers the UK has had over the years. When the sun is out, everyone likes being outside whether it’s at a park, beach, on holiday or in your own garden. Of course this unusual hot weather comes with risks. The main risk being sunburn which can be severe if skin is exposed to the sun all day.

Sun protection is vital, especially so for children, babies, the elderly and those with very fair skin. Every family should have at least one bottle of sun cream in their home because living in the UK means we never can tell when the sun will be shining.

Some sun screen brands can be ridiculously expensive and so over priced when in reality the cheaper priced products are usually just as effective, if not better.

Aldi stocks a great selection of “Lacura” sun products and I was really shocked at just how inexpensive they are. The price did make me wonder whether they would be as effective as others that cost more.

The sun creams and sprays are available with many protection levels. My girls are both really fair so factor 50 is best. Factor 30 also works great too in British weather. If I was to go abroad then it would be only factor 50 that I would use on my children. Factor 50 seems to be the highest factor available to buy without prescription. The higher factor products seem to be mainly for people with extremely sensitive skin conditions.

The Lacura range includes both lotions and sprays. The Refreshng sun spray (factor 50+) also doubles up as a cooling agent and gives a cool refreshing feel when applied.

This also dries extremely fast too.

These two factor 50 sun lotions are very similar and both designed with youngsters in mind.

The difference between them both being that the white tube on the right is for extra sensitive skin types. My 10 year old suffers from minor dry and irritated skin problems and seems to have flare ups with certain products so this makes a good one for her.

The Lacura products all have a nice similar scent which is just like most skin cream type smells. They apply easily and dry quickly and we have not come across any problems when using them.

We have had many hot days recently and I have found applying 2/3 top ups of Lacura sun screen per day gives the same protection as any other good sunscreen that I have previously used. They are all water resistant too so fine to use prior to going in a pool.

The big difference between Lacura sun protection and many other well known brands is the price. The Lacura SPF50 Clear Spray is just £3.29 with the  Kids water resistant SPF50 Lotion even less at just £2.79. All the bottles being 200ml which is standard for most sun products.

Once the sun goes down, Lacura range also offers a moisturising after sun spray at just £1.99.

It is a pump action spray bottle. The product sprays out white and needs a little rubbing in but a little goes a long way. It gave my skin a lovely cooling sensation all over which actually lasted a while too. My skin did not just feel cool to me, but was actually cool to touch too. It’s almost like a cool bath on the skin but without the wetness of water if that makes sense. Aftersun products are not just for the silly people who don’t use sun protection and end up burnt, but for anyone who has been out in the sun even if fully protected. Sun screens stop burning but skin is still exposed to dryness. Aftersun help put some moisturiser back into tired dry skin as well as helping cool us down. Some Aftersun products are rubbish but this one from Aldi ranks as one of the best I’ve tried.

So this Summer, head to Aldi and grab your amazingly low cost sun protection before supplies run out.

Skinny tan: body glow moisturiser

Published June 28, 2017 by Bizzimummy

It’s Summer time and this year it’s a real Summer for once in a long long time in the U.K.

When you have light skin like myself, you long for a natural tan but unfortunately it rarely happens. That’s where self tanning products come in very useful, they are in fact a god send. Although some of them can make me look a streaky mess; but Skinny tan seems to be one of the better ones out there. I have previously reviewed their tanning mousse and oil products and now it’s the turn of their body glow moisturiser.

You get a choice of light or medium shade with this product. Unlike Skinny tan instant tanning products, this is more of a build up glow. It doesn’t give an instant deep tan or even a tan that develops after a few hours. It’s a product that can be applied daily and gradually builds up a natural looking colour on the skin. This looks more like a tan that many instant tanning products out there. The tan builds up, getting slightly deeper but also gives a nice all over body and facial glow too. The tan turns out totally streak free and even because it works differently to instant tanners.

I could see results from the first application, although mild there was definitely a tan to my skin and no streaks.

The product is a white lotion and has a slight fragrance. It does not dry instantly but does dry quickly within 1/2 minutes. Being a moisturiser also means it’s beneficial for the skin as well as adding a glowing natural looking colour.

Perfect for a hot Summers day or a night out as it looks natural and does not rub off onto clothes when sweating either.

I have the light body glow moisturiser and here I had used for 5 days once a day.

This product is sold exclusively at Superdrug stores costing £7.99. Superdrug currently have a buy one, get second half price offer on Body glow too.

Sun free tanning with skinny tan mousse

Published April 24, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I don’t tan too well in the sun. Not that we get much sun here but I seem to burn rather than tan. I also had a bit of a skin cancer scare earlier this year with a suspected melanoma which luckily turned out to be non cancerous. Last year my sister had to have surgery to remove a cancerous mole from her face. Therefore I know just how dangerous sun beds and even constant sun can be to our skin.

I have tried a fair few self tanning products. Some of them fare much better than others but all of them claim to give an even natural looking coverage and all claim to be streak free.

Skinny tan seems to be one of the better tanning products out there compared to others. They have bought out some new mousse self tanner in medium and dark shades.

I find mousse the easiest tan product to use compared to lotion, gel, liquid or spray. A good tip is to always use a tanning mitt which can be purchased very cheaply. A tanning mitt not only helps to give the tan an even coverage and avoid finger marks but it also helps to keep the fingers and hands free of brown tan stains which can be difficult to remove and look quite hideous.

This mousse comes out brown, so I can see exactly where it’s being applied and it’s pretty much an instant tan product as the results can be seen instantly with more of a natural look over a few hours.

It dries very fast, almost too fast. It’s a good idea to only apply a little at a time, otherwise it will dry before properly blended in and then will cause streaking as I found on first use as I applied too much at once.

I really liked the finished colour it gave after just a few hours. I have used both the dark and medium tan mousses. The colour difference between them is not big. I did notice a slighter darkness using the darker one but it’s not stupidly dark at all.

Unlike a few other tan products, this one does not make me look orange but rather a more natural tan colour and even slightly reddish in places just as the sun would. This product contains 2 green based certified natural tanning agents which help to eliminate any orange colouring. Organic coconut is also added to give the scent so it does not smell like fake tan.

And the best bit is that the tan can last up to 14 days. It may need a light top up after showering to keep it going and obviously if I have a bath and scrub then it’s going to come off.

Both tanning mousse bottles cost £26.99 each which works out cheaper and much safer than sunbeds.

Skinny tan: tan & tone oil

Published November 23, 2016 by Bizzimummy

“Skinny Tan is the first self-tanner that combines a natural tanning active with naturally derived skin smoothing actives to tan, contour and reduce the visible appearance of cellulite!”
Skinny tan differs from many other tanning products that I have tried (and believe me I have tried loads). It differs as it’s made with naturally derived tanning ingredients and therefore does not smell like fake tan and nor does it streak. I found the no streak claim a little hard to believe at firsr; I mean what tanning product will claim otherwise?

I use products such as skinny tan because I have very fair natural skin and so unless the weather is extremely hot (which it rarely is over here) then I just won’t tan. As my sister had treatment for skin cancer earlier this year, I won’t use sunbeds either. Therefore I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a self tan addict. I have a drawer full of the stuff, all different brands and types.

I spotted Skinny tan on an advert and was pretty eager to test out their new product –  the skinny tan tone and oil to see if the product lived up to its claims.

The bottle itself is fairly plain, no gimmicks or half naked women or bold claims on how good the product is. It’s a spray on type oil tan. I am more used to using gels and mousse but found this pretty much mess free.

Starting on my legs and working upwards I spray a fair few sprays all over and then use a tan mitt (not included) to blend it all in. I think the only time you don’t need to blend in a spray type tan is when you go to a salon so make sure you have a tan mitt or gloves if using this product. It does have a scent but it’s not fake tan smell, a little like coconut and something else. Bring oil, I was quite surprised at hot fast it dried (almost instantly) and it blended in really well too. The results are instant, with deeper results within an hour or so.

The finished tan look is certainly impressive looking very natural and not at all orange or fake. The shade being just right for my skin too, not dark but no longer pale skin either. And as for streaking!! There is none, none at all, it’s a perfectly even tan and I am really happy with it.

The bottle is 100ml which will be enough for approximately 4/6 applications. The tan can last up to 7 days and fades like a normal tan.

My pure #May (Alva & Trilogy)

Published May 17, 2016 by Bizzimummy

It’s almost Summer and we are certainly having some lovely warm summer weather recently which for me means it’s time for some bronzing. I hate my pale skin, as I do not tan so easily and I don’t use sunbeds it means only one thing and that’s faking it.

I was quite surprised to find fake tan products at My Pure as they only sell organic products made from natural ingredients.

HThis is the instant bronzing gel from the Trilogy brand. I am more used to using bronzing mouse rather than gels or creams but at a price of just £12.50 I thought I would give it a go.

There is a full list of ingredients on the product page. Unfortunately I do not know what most of them are so no point me typing them out here. This gel also contains light reflecting mineral mica which again I had no clue what it was until I applied the product.

It doesn’t look great when you squeeze it out of the tube, almost like a dollop of somethng else, there is a slight familiar fake tan aroma too but not too overpowering.

Don’t worry I do use a tan mitt rather than my hand, nothing worse than golden palms. The product goes on really easily, blends in well. It dries quite quickly within a minute or two but it did leave me feeling a little sticky for a few extra minutes, tho dry if that makes sense.

The results are pretty instant, but like most tanning products the best result comes a few hours later or the next day.

I can honestly say that there was not a single steak or bad patch after using this product and I use it all over my body. The light reflecting mineral mica particles become evident once applied. It gives a sort of glimmer in the sun, almost like skin glitter tho no where near as tacky. Imagine bronzed sparkling skin on a tropical beach and that’s the sort of look that this gives. This here is a picture of my lower arm and if you look closely enough you may see the particles.
This is one product that I will want to buy again.
To complete the bronzed summer look, My Pure boast a selection of Bronzing powders and blushers. The one I chose is the Alva organic bronzing powder.

Now this does not come so cheap at £17.85 for a 9gm case. Therefore I was expecting something fairly good if I was to pay this much. There are 3 shade choices with this and I went for the middle one – beige medium.

It comes with the white sponge tho I do think a nice idea would of been to include a little mirror with the case. Anyway this stuff is great for contouring, blusher and to add to the overall bronzed look. I really like the colour, it’s not too dark and has hints of both beige and pink together which perfectly match my tone. There is lots of info on the internet about how to best apply bronzers and blusher and it’s all about face shape and natural skin tone. Not much of this powder is needed so it should last a good few weeks at least.

And the finished bronzed look! (With a sleepy Izebella)

Summer Bronzing with The Body Shop

Published June 15, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Summer is here and it’s time to look like a bronzed goddess. Once again for the second year running, I am having lots of fun trying out all sorts of tanning products which hopefully will give me that much sought after golden glow. If not then I’ll end up a streaky mess instead.

Today’s lovely products come from The Body Shop which is a brand most of us are very familiar with.

I am trying out two products which both assist the “fake tan” process. First  from the brand new Body shop Vitamin C range is the Vitamin C glow boosting moisturiser.

For years I wondered why my fake tan always seemed to go patchy. I always exfoliated but forgot one vital thing and that’s to apply moisturiser before tanning and regularly apply after tanning. It seems to keep the tan even and longer lasting.

This moisturiser is of course packed full of vitamin C and made to give a glow boost. I apply before my tan to enhance it.

It has a lovely invigorating aroma, very fruity. It’s quite lightweight as far as moisturisers go but absorbs into the skin quickly and dries fast.

Once applied it’s time to apply the second product which is the Tinted leg mist.

This tanning product is oil and shimmer free to give a natural looking even, streak free tan. It sprays on and then needs a little rubbing in with a mitt. It’s pretty instant.

My legs were evenly tan ex using this and I did find that it doesn’t rub off onto clothes or bed sheets either, even when sweating.

This leg tanner is £15.00 and the Vitamin C moisturiser is £16.00. Not too bad a price to pay for bronzed looking summer legs. The tan lasts a fairly long time when using the moisturiser too.

St Tropez gradual tan + Anti-aging face lotion

Published August 26, 2014 by Bizzimummy

20140818-224821-82101092.jpg

In 3 years time I will turn the big “40”. It’s hard to believe, I don’t feel it and I’m constantly told I don’t look it. I’m lucky to look younger than my age, I always have done tho it didn’t do me many favours when younger for getting into clubs. I’m well aware that one day age may start to catch up with me so I know it’s important to look after my skin. I also enjoy a bit of colour added to my usual pale complexion.

St Tropez have developed a product to combat the aging which also gives a gradual healthy looking glow to the face.

20140818-225133-82293528.jpg

Gradual tan plus Anti- Aging Face lotion rejuvenated cells and boosts collagen synthesis. It acts to lift fine lines and wrinkles whilst firming and plumping at the same time. Whilst providing complete 24 hour moisturisation it also creates a luminous sun kissed healthy glow.

20140818-225634-82594258.jpg

To get the best results it’s best to apply it every day after cleansing and apply in circular motions around the face and neck.
It’s easy to apply and quickly blends into the skin. No nasty smell and no stickiness or greasy feeling.

I have now been using the product for about ten days and applying daily. I am able to see impressive results. My face has a lovely natural looking glow and my skin is feeling very soft and smooth almost like a baby. I can’t really comment on the anti aging part just yet, I think this is something that only time will tell but I’m sure this product will help.

20140818-230243-82963174.jpg

I have no foundation on in the photographs. The colour you can see is the results of using the St Tropez gradual tan.

It does cost £22 and that’s for a 50ml tube which will probably last 3/4 weeks if applied daily.
