Tomy: Greedy Granny

Published October 26, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Greedy Granny is so greedy. She takes all the biscuits away and keeps them on her tray, all to herself. But Granny gets tired and falls asleep, meaning children get a chance to steal Grannies biscuits.

Players take a turn each to spin the spinner.  Then they either miss a go, or try to steal the biscuits. The number on the spinner indicates how many times the Granny button must be pressed.

But beware, as one of those button pushes will eventually wake Granny up, who won’t be happy that everyone is trying to get the biscuits. She will jump up, raise her arms and her false teeth come flying out along with the tray and whatever biscuits are on it.

Should Greedy Granny wake up on your turn then all your stolen biscuits go back to Grannies tray.

To win, you need one of each of the four different biscuits.

This reminds me a bit of buckaroo but uses a granny and biscuits as opposed to a horse. It’s one of those games that keeps us on edge because none of us know when granny will wake up and it can be quite a scare when she does. Spinning a 3 button push increases the risk of granny jumping up,  but she can literally pop up any time, it’s a matter of luck.

Izebella is quite wary about pressing Grannies button. I don’t think she enjoys the whole suspense at all.

Greedy Granny, from Tomy Toys is for ages 5 and over and for 2-4 players. It costs £15 or so from most good toy stores.

Molang

Published October 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Meet Molang, a soft squishy white rabbit based on the character from the online tv series of the same name.

Molang is an adventurous rabbit yet shy and lives with his equally shy friend Piu Piu the chick. Together they go on many adventures together and wear many disguises and costumes.

Molang does look quite similar to those cute Japanese kawaii characters, similar to Hello Kitty too. I believe Molang actually originated in Korea as the word Molang translates to “I don’t know” in Korean. We have not watched any of the Molang episodes yet but they are available on You Tube.

Our Molang plush toy is incredibly soft and really squishy, almost like a big soft stress ball. It can be cuddled and squashed yet won’t lose its natural shape.

Molang is good for children ages 3 and over. He doesn’t do much, in way of any interaction but it does make an awesome night time cuddle buddy.

Molang comes to us via Tomy Toys and many of Molangs cuddly friends are also available and are seeking a loving home full of cuddles.

Tomy Screwball Scramble

Published October 9, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Oh just WOW! I could hardly believe my eyes when I spotted this game. It is one of my childhood favourites, before the era of video games and a time when mobile phones were totally unheard of.

This is Screwball scramble from Tomy toys . I had it as a child and it hasn’t really changed much at all.

In fact, apart from the odd colour change here and there, they are pretty much identical. However I am sure I recall having to manually assemble the old one where as the new one comes ready assembled, only needing the timer slotting in.

The game is played with silver metal balls. Only two come in the box, and I have a feeling these will be lost within a few weeks in this house but they seem easy enough to buy elsewhere.

The game is easy, it’s a solo play game, meaning one player at a time. Each player needs to complete the scramble maze before the timer runs out. It’s not easy, I have not mastered it myself yet, despite being masterclass when younger. It takes a lot of practice and a bit of frustration to master it in time.

The way to play is by pressing or turning the various buttons which each one correspond to one of the many obstacles. The player flip, roll and bounce the ball along each obstacle before finally getting to the end and hitting the finish bell, and all before the timer runs out.

If you also played this game way back in the 1980s then you will probably also want to rush out and buy it for your own children too. Prices start from £15.00 from The Entertainer, Smyths, Toys r Us, Amazon and other toy stores. Ages 5 and over.

Tomy Johnny Tractor & friends + Competition

Published March 15, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Izebella has once again been struck by the awful cold and cough virus which seems to be doing the round of her nursery. One thing that always cheers her up when unwell is a new toy or two to play with and this time those toys come from Tomy toys.

Part of their John Deere: Johnny tractor and friends range comes these two friendly tractors.

They are both suitable for young children ages 18 months and over. Izebella usually turns her nose up at cars but she loves these. She seems to love most toys associated with farms.

The Animal Stacker comes with 4 animal rings. Each one is a different farm animal and when placed in the correct order on the tractor they all make an animal noise. It also plays various tunes too and can be pulled and pushed around.

Izebella did enjoy constantly taking the rings off and putting them back on. Jordanna also wanted to join in to. We did have a little debate on whaf animal the brown ring is. I said goat, Ryan said bull but the noise definitely puts it as a goat.

This toy came with batteries pre installed.
The next tractor is the Remote Control Johnny tractor. This requires one of those square batteries and AA batteries to work.

It’s a pretty fast mover and even works on carpet. Izebella is more than able to use the remote control herself and it’s just about big enough for her little hands.

I have made a short video to show the tractor in action.

Well she seems happy enough with her new toys and it goes to show that tractors are not just for boys.
              COMPETITION

We’re giving you the chance to win a farm-tastic prize from TOMY’s John Deere Johnny Tractor and Friends range. John Deere’s preschool range of toys allows children to learn, develop, and explore farm play through vehicles, sound, movement and role-play and we’re giving away 1 farming bundle.

First farmers will love the Animal Stackers. Stack the animals in the correct order to hear the animal sounds, then when complete, Johnny Tractor will play a tune and the animals will rotate as you push the tractor along!

Also up for grabs is the Remote Controlled Johnny Tractor which will get young farmers whizzing around at the push of a button or two! This chunky John Deere vehicle has soft-touch surfaces with rounded edges for safe play and with its easy-to-use remote control, kids just have two buttons to press – one to move forwards, the other to spin around.
