It’s a Troll-Tastic new year!

Published January 1, 2018 by Bizzimummy

Well Happy new teach all my lovely followers and leaders, and to start off 2018 I have a very happy post featuring the loveable Trolls. In our house the trolls movie was just as big a hit with Izebella as Frozen and Tangled both were and of course her favourite character is the loveable Poppy troll.

Just two days before Christmas a very special box arrived at our door from the elves over at Hasbro. As it was so close to the big day, the box contents got wrapped up as an extra surprise for my cute little princess.

Izebella now has two extra troll items in her collection. This includes a huge play set – the PoDular tree playset. This comes with a small poppy figure, other figures can be purchased separately. The playset comes as plastic parts which easily join together. There are special troll swings that can change positions and special troll seats and accessories.

It’s really tall too being 16 inches, very bright and colourful which is probably what caught Izebellas eye the most. It doesn’t have any sort of sound effects or flashing lights and so does not need batteries but she still loves playing with it and swapping the swings around.

The tree set retails around £35 – £40 in most toy stores. I feel this is overpriced considering what it is and I think the Dreamworks brand and whole Trolls franchise is what makes the cost so high. I think it’s good that the poppy figure comes included, I imagine this small figure alone would probably be around £10.

Izebella also now has the new “Hair in the Air” poppy doll.

Poppy has such amazing hair, 14 inches of bright pink hair that can be twisted and bent to create more styles. She comes with a tiara and comb but to be honest these are very small accessories and will easily be lost and aren’t really needed to play with Poppy.

Her gown plays music, her hair lights up with twinkly red lights and sounds and poppy even says the odd few words such as “Wheee” or “Wow”.

It’s obvious to see why little girls love toys like these. Prices for the poppy hair doll seem to vary from £25-£35. I would be happy to pay the lower £25 for this doll but I feel anymore is just too much.

Izebella absolutely loves her new Trolls additions.

Personalised advent calendars

Published November 25, 2016 by Bizzimummy

It’s the time of year when young children everywhere in the U.K. are not only counting down to Christmas but also excitedly awaiting December 1st as this is the day that those small doors on the advent calendars start to be opened.

Now back in the day, a long time ago, when I was a little girl, advent calendars (tho still exciting) were a little boring compared to the ones in shops today. That’s because behind the doors of those old style advents was just a Christmas image and that’s all. Yup; no chocolate, sweets or fancy gift awaiting us behind the torn card, just a coloured image.

Well times have certainly changed over the many years. I do vaguely remember the introduction of chocolate advent calendars but I remember them being very expensive at the time and I definitely do not recall ever having one. (Or maybe my parents were just tight sods) Anyway these days advent calendars never have just a boring image behind the door. The majority bare a piece of shaped chocolate behind each and these can be purchased for just a pound each in many stores. Many of them come with familiar character images, such as the calendars from Kinnerton.

Kinnerton have lots of character calendars to choose from for boys and girls. As well as the advent calendars they also sell many character chocolates including selection boxes and the majority of their products can be found in supermarkets and store such as Poundland.

Izebella has one of their Trolls calendars which also came personalised. This option has now closed as it’s getting so close to the start of December but the Trolls calendars without personalisation are available pretty much everywhere.

Izebella loves Trolls at the moment and especially so Poppy troll. She has seen this calendar and her little face lit up. I cannot comment on how good the chocolate inside is as it’s not December 1st yet and I don’t believe in opening these early. However I have tried Kinnerton chocolate a few times and it’s not at all disappointing. Also the foil wrap in these calendars keeps the chocolates fresh! (I did always wonder how shops could sell them so early on)

Take a look at their other character chocolate products on the website which include Shopkins, peppa pig, simpsons and many more.

Vosene kids: New troll-tactic makeover

Published November 24, 2016 by Bizzimummy

Vosene kids products, which my girls use a lot have been going through a rather exciting makeover to tie in with the launch of the new Dreamworks Trolls movie. From now until February 2017, all kids products will feature the troll characters on the bottles.

This now makes them even more appealing to children. The products inside stay pretty much the same, with a selection of combination shampoos both 2 in 1 and 3 in 1, both of which contain head lice defence products to keep the bugs away. Then why my girls are finished washing they can use the conditioning defence spray for extra protection and detangling there long curly hair.

The new Trolls products are limited edition and on the back of each is a unique scratch off code . This code can be typed into the website (as per instructions on the product) and there is a chance to win one of 40000 mini troll dolls. And guess what? Yes we won one so now Izebella will be excited as Trolls seem to be her latest craze.

Buy Vosene kids troll products from supermarkets, boots, Superdrug and other similar stores.

Crystal Zelfs

Published July 29, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Yes it’s those troll like creatures known as Zelfs once again. These special (and very collectable) Crystal Zelfs were released by Character Options. I believe there are 6 in total to collect of the Crystal series as well as the other series 5 Zelfs. These Crystal Zelfs differ a little to the other ones in series 5 as they all have a magic crystal on their bodies and different magical accessories.

They seem to be the same size as the others and just as cute so I am thinking as they are all part of series 5 that they are quite a special collection.

This one which we have is known as So-Anne. She is pretty multicoloured and bright with the usual funky Zelf hairstyle and she comes with her own little throne which she seems to sit quite proudly on.

The Zelfs don’t really do much alone and are aimed more towards girls than boys. Girls will enjoy brushing their hair and will also no doubt what the Zelf accessories and many sets which can be purchased to use with Zelfs such as this one. They are very collectable too just like the retro trolls which they resemble and I can imagine girls across the country trading and swapping Zelfs with one another. Roll on Zelfs series 6! I have lost count of how many Zelfs my girls now own.

These crystal Zelfs come at £7.99 each.

Zelfs series 5

Published July 9, 2015 by Bizzimummy

Our regular blog readers will know only too well just how much we love our little “Zelf” friends, and that includes me too as well as my little princesses. We are building up quite a collection of the little troll like buddies.

Character Online have just released their latest version of Zelfs and Zelf accessories and are now on series 5. The cute little crettins once again come with their own magical characteristics and each one with a mini hair twirler and brush to use in their zelftastic printed hair.

The funky hair dos contain a collection of stripes and spots and the hair can be tied up with the funky twister accesory.

I was both happy and relieved to kindly be sent two Zelfs from the new collection, thus meaning one each fory girls and less fights. Izebella has Rose-Anne who is a super cute pink girly girl Zelf. Jordanna has Koolah which looks like a little koala.

These new Zelfs are classed as medium size and I should add that the recommended age guide is from 3 years. Izebella is not quite 3 until October but has happily and safety been playing with Zelfs for over a year so just use your judgement if allowing younger ones to play with them.

The new series 5 Zelfs cost just £5.99 each and should be in shops soon. They can be purchased directly from Character Online too.

The Zelfs series 4

The Zelfs live in an enchanted garden full of surprises called Zardenia. Love your Zelf and they’ll share their special powers. Each Zelf is totally unique and has a special power that only shines when they are loved. Each comes with hair styling accessories and comb plus a charm that can be worn by the Zelf or yourzelf.
They dwell in different fabitats tucked all over the garden…in the trees, mounds of rocks and even dark corners. They attend Zardenias School of Rock Garden and swap convo at Witchbrew Bistro.

Character Options have bought out their new wave of Zelfs know as series 4. Both my girls love the zelfs, even Izebella being only 2. Jordanna has quite a collection now with figures from each of the past 3 series so was happy to receive a new one to add to her growing collection.

IMG_2394

This little cutie is known as Cindy-Moo the cowgirl Zelf. Each Zelf comes with its own unique name and character making them all unique and different.

IMG_2395
Cindy-Moo comes with a hair comb, clip and a Garden of Zardinia map which also shows the other Zelfs to collect on the back of it.

IMG_2396.
She has funky pink hair which little girls (and maybe some boys) will enjoy brushing and clipping. Her little body is full of cowprints. Her legs and arms are fully moveable and she has a bendy tail too.

The Zelfs don’t take batteries and therefore don’t really do all that much but sit pretty and wait to be played with and pampered. There are accessories to go with the Zelfs tho that can be purchased separately and make them a little more fun, Zelfs are also very collectable as I have found out. Lots of Jordannas friends also have Zelfs and the girls are often swapping and borrowing.

I like the Zelfs as they remind me very much of my childhood trolls. Similar sizes and very collectable. The Zelfs have a more updated look to them than the old retro trolls tho. They look more cool and funky and have a more alien look to them than the old troll wrinkles. Just take a look.

IMG_2397
Yes I’m a big kid at heart who kept some of her childhood loveable trolls. The hair is very similar on both and both equally adorable.
I wonder if Jordanna will still have her Zelfs when she is my age??

Zelfs series 4 medium figures are available from Character and cost £5.99 each. They are aimed at children aged 5 and over and may come with small parts.

Eye See A Dragon in the Glen. Review & Competition

Published April 2, 2014 by Bizzimummy

This colourful book on first glance may just look like a usual kids book. With a story of dragons and trolls. It’s very bright with lots of pictures and the words are easy enough to read for a young child.
The book however is more than just a story book.
The book is written by One Vision. It contains a subtle message about looking after your eyes and is supported by Optical Express.
The book tells a short story about Lochy the Brave, a troll who attends the eye clinic after harming his eyes in the bright light. As well as the story there are several tests which assists parents in checking the child’s eyes for problems.
The tests are really simple. The book comes with 3D glasses which are needed for the tests and involve counting rings on a dragon and a test card with dragons on.

20140326-191851.jpg
Obviously this book does not replace a proper eye examination but it may assist in spotting early eye problems in young children.
This book was first published in 2012 and supports the charity Children 1st
You can purchase the book yourself from Amazon
My kids enjoyed the book. Jordanna wears glasses most of the time. Without her glasses she had problems with one of the tests, as did I which proves the book works. The book is very decorative and bright. I especially liked the big red dragon. Everytime Izebella sees the dragon now, she roars. Younger children who cannot yet read will also enjoy having the book read to them and can perhaps participate in the test when they are a little older.

20140326-193133.jpg
It is vital to get eye examinations from an early age. Eye problems in children do not always come with signs or symptoms. Children assume that what they see is normal as they have never known anything different. I was so shocked when an eye test picked up Jordanna had an astigmatism . I simply assumed all was fine as she never had a squint or lazy eye. To be told that there was a problem and that she may have spent the first few years of her life with less than perfect/ blurry vision was upsetting. At least now thanks to an eye test: she has glasses and her vision is improving. I was told at one of her appointments that once a child reaches a certain age, their vision is set and it’s extremely difficult to correct it beyond that age. Therefore early medical intervention is very important for a child’s vision.

Zelfs Series 2

Published February 18, 2014 by Bizzimummy

Last year Jordanna had the pleasure of reviewing the Zelfs and the spin Salon.
She was therefore very excited to learn that a new range of Zelfs and accessories were being launched from Character.
There are 12 new medium size Zelfs to collect. All of which measure 8cm and come with a comb and hair accessory. Six of the new Zelfs in the collection also come with a masquerade theme and have a decorative mask on their face. The Zelfs remind me of the retro trolls I had when younger but are much more colourful and brighter and come without clothes. The Zelfs have bright sticky up (punk style) hair dos which are just waiting to be groomed and brushed.
Jordannas new Zelfs is called Buttershy and is a butterfly Zelf.

20140215-160549.jpg
This Zelf has a rather girly look, being purple and pink with butterfly wings and bright funky hair and is also part of the masquerade collection. The Zelfs are very cure with dainty features and bulging eyes. One of these new Zelfs will cost just £5.99. I hear there are some very rare Zelfs in the collections and some due to be released which will be much sought after by little girls everywhere.
Of course the Zelfs need something to keep them entertained so alongside the new Zelf collection comes the Zelfs Toadstool Twirl and Swing play set costing £14.99.

20140215-161233.jpg
The play set features three swings and comes with a small self too. It can be used with the Zelfs in your collection and does not need batteries.

20140215-161350.jpg
It works by simply popping the Zelfs on the sweets and pushing it round. It seems quite a strong, sturdy toy and will certainly appeal to little girls with it’s stand out bright colours.

20140215-161540.jpg
More Zelfs will be released throughout the year including a collection of scented Zelfs and a Beesweet tree house set.
The Zelfs and accessories are suitable for children ages 3 and over.
If you have a child who collects Zelfs or are considering buying a few for birthdays etc then make sure you keep your receipts. Head over to UKmumstvand exchange £30 of Zelfs receipts for the Ultra rare Ruby Zelf.
