Quirky gifts: Not for Ponies

Published December 1, 2017 by Bizzimummy

I so love receiving things for me rather than my children and especially when it’s something a bit more unusual, like this unique sweatshirt.

Of course I love unicorns so I sort of fell in love with this top when I saw it. I’m actually wearing it now too as I’m writing this.

My new unicorn top comes from a strangely named place called Not for Ponies. They have a few other animal themed tops for ladies like myself such a red panda and a cutie kitten but the unicorn did it for me. They don’t just stop at tops for ladies either as there are clothing items for both kids and men, including a few festive themed pieces and a few accessories to buy such as bags and purses.

As for my new unicorn sweatshirt- I love it.

I decided not to include my head or face as my hair was a mess.

I do find it hit or miss when getting the correct size clothing from the internet. For this top I went for the small fitting – 8/10 size. It fits surprisingly well, no tightness, snug but plenty of room left and warm but not so warm that I’m sweating. I do love the little unicorn motif too, so cute.

It costs £28 for one of these and they come in sizes small (8/10) to XXL (16-18)

Back to School: Find me a Gift

Published August 17, 2017 by Bizzimummy

Find me a gift are an online gift paradise with all sorts of weird, wonderful and novelty items and gifts. They also have a lovely Back to School section, with (as you can probably guess!) lots of weird & wonderful stationery pieces for the younger novelty lovers.

Many of their gifts can be personalised, this is something that coma in extremely useful in my house and also at school. After all if stationery has your name on it, then no one can steal it and claim it as theirs (unless they share the same names that is!)

These personalised pencil sets start from £5.99. They arrive ready sharpened in packs of 12 with any child’s name on and little logos such as hearts and footballs.

My daughter Jordanna is now 10 and loves both stationery and make up. She was thrilled when she saw her new nail varnish highlighters.

They look just like my bottles of nail polish until they are opened and it’s actually a highlighter. There are 4 to a pack and these cost £4.99. Very cool and colourful indeed.

Finally, how gorgeous do these unicorns look!

We are all a fan of unicorns in this house and these are incredibly cute as well as being very practical. One of them a coloured pencil holder with 10 colouring pencils £8.99. The other is a coloured tape dispenser complete with two rolls of coloured tape £7.99. They both make great desktop pieces.

Lovely products, which kids will love from Find me a Gift.

A much wanted piece of art; finally on my wall. Photowall!

Published May 23, 2017 by Bizzimummy

When it comes to prints are art pictures there are only a few things I would really choose to buy. These include most things that fall within the fantasy category and no I don’t mean anything sexual. Think fairies, trolls, unicorns etc. Yes I’m a little weird and perhaps live in a dream world sometimes but some of those fantasy images are truly awesome.

I remember being a teenager and a certain shop in the Manchester Arndale which only sold posters. The posters were displayed in rows of huge boards to look at, with the actual poster being all rolled up, ready to take. I can’t quite remember the name of the shop but it was here where I first spotted some fantasy type posters that I really liked.

So many years later along comes Photowall UK who make wall murals and canvas prints. Yes canvas prints can be bought in lots of places but the ones from photowall can be made very large indeed. And they have a category just for Fantasy along with many other category choices.

There are so many images to choose from, I could even upload my own if I really wanted to but I have lots of family photographs already on my walls and I’d already spotted this one.

This being the Castle garden unicorn canvas (it also comes as a wall mural). Now my bedroom wall was looking a little plain and bare and I wanted a big canvas to fill the space. These can be made up to 150cm in length which is really big for a standard wall. I ordered mine as 120cms and I’m glad I did not go bigger because it would have been too big.

Because the canvas prints go really large it does mean they would be difficult to ship without the risk of damage. Also the size of them would greatly increase the shipping costs. Therefore the canvases are sent as DIY packages. Yes I felt quite nervous about the prospect of making a canvas myself.

The packages is a very tall slim box. The canvas comes in a roll and 4 planks of wood, metal joiners, bolts and wall hanger. No instructions come with the box but there are instructions on the photo wall website along with a video which makes it look extremely easy. It’s not the easiest thing but not too difficult.I think smaller size canvases would be easier. The wood planks have peel off sticky sides which all stick to the edge of the canvas. I found lining them all up correctly very tricky with them being so long. Attaching the fastener and bolts was straightforward and hanging was so-so. Again due to the size it took a while to balance it straightish.

Anyway here it is, in pride of place on my bedroom wall.

It looks fantastic and is placed on the main wall opposite my bed, so each morning when I wake up, this is what I will see.

All of these images are taken from my actual canvas and not from photowall.

The detail in this print is just amazing, it’s absolutely beautiful and just the sort of image I’ve been wanting for years. I am very happy with it and even fairly happy that I managed to put the canvas together without help.

The canvases start at £38. The bigger you go, the more it costs. Options include choice of edging and cropping to get the big of the image you want. The canvas can be purchased alone without the frame too. And they have hundreds of images to choose from. I was spoilt for choice and it won’t be long until I buy myself another one.

Magicorn Hood

Published November 20, 2014 by Bizzimummy

It's fair to say that as a blogger I come across some rather strange and unusual items every now and again, but none have so far been more peculiar than this furry and rather mythical garment.

“What the hell is that!” I hear you all cry. Well! It's called a Magicorn hood, that's correct Magicorn. It is sold by Firebox who are fairly well known for selling strange and unusual/hard to get gifts and gadgets but this definitely tops my unusual gift list as far as “ out there” gifts go.

The hood has a lovely wintery feel to it with soft white fur. It has places to put paws and a colourful main with a big golden horn.

It certainly is a strange looking thing.

It even had ears too.

So what do I do with one of these Magicorn hoods then? Do I wear it to go out clubbing?? Certainly not I think I'd get some very strange looks if I did. Saying that tho I can actually picture some of my old raving pals wearing one of these at a rave, I think they may just blend in well. I wouldn't wear it for the school run either, nor to go shopping or to go outside at all. No this is the sort of thing that I could wear indoors with my gown and slippers in the cold winter weather and keep my head and mitts warm. A bit like this!

I think I look a little like a strange snow queen in this shot and then there's this one!

Like some strange creature from Narnia!

It certainly keeps both my head and hands warm but I would have to wear this at home when I am alone. I think I would feel slightly silly sat there in front of friends or family with a fluffy unicorn on my head. They would truly think I had lost the plot.

Still it's quite a fun novelty thing and I think it could be bought out at Christnas parties too. I can imagine all the ladies having a try of it along with the drubken idiot males getting a photograph wearing it.

The horn bit can look a bit erm! Rude, especially if a photograph is taken at the wrong angle like this.

Yes it certainly looks like I have something else on my head that I certainly would not want there.

It can even transform into something actually resembling a strange mythical beast. Just look at the next one! Aaaggh!

In a strange kind of way I do actually like this. I have always loved unicorns and the whole mythical elements around them but that foes not mean I want to be one or dress up as one. It's warm and fluffy and may just save on my heating bills a little as it keeps me a bit warmer.

I do hear that no mythical beasts were slain or injured in the making of this hood and I also hear that the wearer of one of these mythical hoods may attract butterflies and other woodland creatures and even be accepted by the forest nymphs – well that's what Firebox say anyway.

I forgot to mention that this hood is lovely for hugging too and of course both my little princesses absolutely love it and both want one of their eon now.

This Magicorn hood can be purchased from Firebox along with hundreds of other amazing gadgets and gifts. It costs £24.99 and I think it would be perfect for unicorn lovers.
